Yes, as they're only 2.5 months old their color has changed yet. I can't wait to see what they will turn out to be.

Nice tanks!! Look at all those snails. My marimo balls came with snails as well and were gobbled by the big goldfish. Or this is at least what I think, as the largest oranda looks guilty whenever she looks me in the eye. I don't know why betta fish creep out, though :)

That one tank with plants where people asked about CO2 contains relatively easy to take care of plants. It really depends on the plant. If you're thinking of a dwarf hair grass carpet, you have to put it on some plant substrate

Thank you. Yes, they should be ok in the 55 gallon. The tank is as long as the 75 gallon and it's length they need for swimming. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 55 though.

Yay, minimum 4 fish preferably 5. We've had these several times over the years and anything less than 4 and they will get very nippy with each other.

It's not necessary but if you want to occasionally feed them it's fine.

Between your Sun Sun and the overhang filter, you have over 10x filtration GPH for that 55 gallon. Any particular benefit in adding in the sponge filter?

No not really we use it for aeration more than anything else, but with goldfish they recommend at least 10x filtration.

Lifewithpets I agree 100% on the filtration requirement. My 60 gallon has 3 Fancies in it and I run a Fluval 406 and an Eheim 2217 to get about 620 GPH. I actually plan to put an overhang on it in the future in addition. Just researching to find a really quiet one

What is the gel food you feed the snails? Is it also safe if beta eats it or do the bettas not mess with it. I'm excited for your updates coming. Congrats on 10k!

The gel food is Repashy solient green. Bettas can eat it but they tend not to bother it. The snails love it so do plecos.

Not long, the grow you see in the video is approximately 3-4 months growth.

What would be a good substrate for a beginner? Should I do sand or would something else be better?

Any substrate is good. Sand requires more work because you have to gravel vacuum to prevent gas pockets. Also if you're planning on live plants then a substate like fluvial Stratum would be good. It really depends on what you're planning on doing with the tank.

Thanks. No I just moved some across that I'd had in the goldfish tank for 6 weeks to be sure there were no snails.

You could put two fancy goldfish in a 34 gallon tank. Fancy goldfish include, fantails, Ranchu, telescope, and Orandas to name but a few.

Actually I think you may be getting a puffer and using the snails as food for them? I think you mentioned you wanted a puffer in a livestream. Plastic can be good and are cheaper but live absorb ammonia and nitrate which gives you a little flexibility when it comes to water changes

I have a fish that looks just like Henry! He's also not as active as I'd like him to be. I think he's about 2-3 years old now. His fins haven't held up well. I feel bad for him.

I think as the dumbo bettas get older their fins get so heavy it's more difficult for them to swim.

His actually ended up ripping and tearing with time. I'm afraid it's caused him discomfort. I try to give him good water quality but nothing seems to help.

@Jakkie Tea: One of my rescue male's has just started tail-biting as well. He has had over a 1 inch of fin growth in the past month, and he is not used to them. So, he decided to do himself a favor... :( The torn up fins are currently open and damaged tissue, so you want to keep the water exceptionally clean for the next few weeks to avoid the tissue from becoming infected. Good luck!

Most bettas will accept snails but not all of them will.
