The thing about the characters "Shooting Themselves" is due to in Persona 3, to "Summon a Persona" one must be on the verge of death, to break the barriers of it's psyche, so the guns called "Evokers" are essentially shooting "Blank Shells" that only gives the use the allusion of shooting itself, with the "Bang!" The brain goes in Hypermode with fear and shock, causing it to break the psyche of the user and manifest the Persona.

"Wasn't there a Persona anime" Yep! 3 Persona 4 and 5 got adapted into animes, Persona: Trinity Soul is it's own original story, and Persona 3 was adapted into 4 films! Highly recommend that you play the Persona 3 Remake in February :D

@@august...4847 No I don’t quite think so August-San, P2 was never supposed to get an OVA that’s a common misconception. The bonus CD in Japan had a segment where it was presented like the player was flipping through a TV channel and thus the P2 Promotional Segment was included, but it was never meant to go beyond that. The TV flipping thing got cut from the US releases, but the animation was still included in the collection if that makes sense.

To answer a few of your questions if you are still confused about certain things: Persona is a game with two big aspects to it. A time management life simulator and a dungeon crawling segment. Each Mainline Persona story is a standalone and can be played on it's own with only a few lines of dialouge talking about past Persona characters or events to show that it's in the same universe. The story is standalone as well so the Dark Hour from the Persona 3 trailer that you saw will mostly stay in that number of series. It's only on the side releases like Persona Q and the ultimate arena games do the major characters interact with one another in the series. So don't be scared if you feel like missing out on a lot of content starting with Persona 5 as the fanbase suggests you go through the mainline series first before going for the side series. The best way to play the mainline series is with the updated and upgraded version so you are good to go with Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden as it comes with the full base game as well as additional added content. Hope you have fun and enjoy your time with the series!

The story of Persona 5 Royal is one of my favorites of all time, and the antagonist of the Royal section of the story is probably my actual favorite antagonist because he wants the same thing that the Phantom Thieves do, but the way he’s going about it is in opposition to their ideals. I managed to never hear I Believe before I reached that ultimate Palace infiltration, and I am so glad I did because the emotional hit was HUGE.

I couldn't agree more! Persona 5 Royal was a life changing experience for me. That may be a little dramatic, but it's true. Playing through that game with it's incredible story and music and characters got me through some rough times. It was also a huge time commitment, so when I had beaten the final, final boss and the credits started to roll, I admit I was super emotional about it. That's why it's now one of may favorite games, and why I'm a hardcore persona fan! 😁

Indeed "Kimi no Kioku" is a part of "P3 fes" (the name of the opening song). Fun fact: "P3 fes" was playing in Persona 4 the Animation in the episode where they were on the island from P3.

Each has its own themes. 3 is about death and dealing with it. 4 is about reaching out to the truth and never turning away from it no matter how harsh it might be. 5 is about rebeling against society and the people that chain down your innerself. I haven't played 2 or 1 but heard great things, though I played everything from 3 onwards. Royal is a trip and adds new characters into base P5, you will love it and yes everyone thinks that the MC from 5 aka Joker is either hot or cool. All Persona games from 3 onwards are part life sim / RPG combat, you have to manage your time with friends while kicking butt. I hope you enjoy, even if you don't like it then at least you'll hear the fire soundtrack.

Interesting detail in persona 3: where around after Junpei joins the party, in one evening if you talk to him, he'll ask you why evokers are shaped as a gun and is crazy how you point it on your head. Or something along those lines.

The enemies in the persona games are representations of fear, dark thoughts, or the collective unconscious. They come in the form of monsters know as shadows which look like gods or creatures from myth, legends, and some straight up cryptids… and some things that are really hard for me to describe, hopefully someone else can explain the other weird creatures from persona 4 and any other games they show up in.

To simplify things, teens live a regular life in between stumbling across another world based on the hearts and minds of themselves and others, where they fight symbolic monsters and also summon monsters that represent parts of themselves. I don’t know about Persona’s 1 and 2, but in Persona 3, they can only access the other world at midnight, the Dark Hour, in Persona 4, the other world is in the TVs, and in Persona 5, the other world can be unlocked with a smartphone app. Persona 3 has themes of death, Persona 4 has a murder mystery going on in between characters confronting their inner demons, and Persona 5 is about rebelling against a corrupt and abusive world. (I’ve only played 4 and 5 to be honest)

One thing to note about Persona is that its a spin off of tbe Shin Megami Tensei series which is a really hard RPG series. Persona 1 and 2 play similar to SMT, but Persona 3 is when they changed it to be half school simulator and half RPG. The series is great and i recommend not to skip 1 and 2 like most people do

Persona 1 and 2 were Shin Megami Tensei spinoffs. 3, 4, and 5 changed a lot of things and these games are when Persona really came into its own as an IP. So youll notice a definite shift between the "old persona games" and the "modern persona games"

Explaining the Persona spinoffs is about as sane as explaining how the various Kingdom Hearts games tie together. it is fairly straightforward but it is a tangled ride for the unfamiliar. also, fun fact. the vanilla opening to P5 was directed by the same person behind Yuri on Ice, hence the ice skating style of movements

When you play Persona 5 Royal, I have not seen a comparison between the two original endings before. (Not the Royal ending) I’d be curious to find out. (Details below) I will get more specific here. Persona 5 Royal has some extra content like the third semester and some new endings. The confidant you need to rank up to unlock this content is Maruki. Simply put, if you are Rank 8 with Maruki before 11/18, then Ranks 9 & 10 will happen automatically.

What you see is the chronological order the games where relised. Every persona get a remake with new content. Persona 2 is divided in two games the second is a secuel. The ultima and ultimatrix are fighting games. Persona 3 P is the only one that let you choose a female protagonist. Persona Q and Q2 are 3ds and switch games.

To explain a bit on the Persona series as a whole: Persona 1, aka Shin Megami Tensei: Persona and Revelations: Persona, is basically where it all started, and acted as a spinoff of the main series game Shin Megami Tensei. It and the following two games are considered the black sheep of the Persona fandom, mostly because of how awful their translations were. Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment are the next two games in the franchise, still considered black sheep but not to the extent of Revelations: Persona. Persona 3 is where the fandom *truly* begins. Persona 3 FES is sort of like P3 but with DLC, and Persona 3 Portable is somewhat the same except it gives you the ability to play as a female protagonist. Its spinoff is Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night, a rhythm game where the song list is music from Persona 3 itself, as well as remixes made by the official ATLUS team. Persona 3 Reload will be a remake of bits and pieces from P3, P3FES, and P3P. Persona 4 is the next game in the series, with its own different standalone story. Persona 4 Golden acts as the "definitive edition" of Persona 4, with the most content involved in it. Its spinoffs include Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, both fighting game spinoffs created by Arc System Works (the same people that bring you BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, and various other fighting games) and a crossover with the Persona 3 characters; Persona 4 Dancing All Night, the rhythm game with the P4 song setlist; and Persona Q, another crossover with Persona 3 that plays similar to the RPG franchise Etrian Odyssey, where mazes are a big thing. Each Persona game is set in the same world at different times. The second game includes characters from the first, aged up due to the time difference of course. Unfortunately, I don’t believe any of the times a character from 3 or 4 has shown up with characters from another Persona game has ever been canon (someone correct me if I’m wrong). In Persona 1, the characters hear a rumor about a ritual to gain “Personas” and perform it. Afterwards, the city basically splits in half between normal reality and a dark world infested by demonic beings called shadows. The characters then have to use their Personas, gained through the ritual, to fight the shadows and fix things. In the first game that makes up Persona 2, a similar ritual is performed but they also accidentally summon an evil being named Joker, who they have to fight as well as the shadows. A big part of the game is spreading rumors which then become true (like there’s a secret passphrase at a restaurant which allows you to buy weapons from there). I’m not sure about the story of the second game that makes up Persona 2, but I’ve been told there’s either time travel or world hopping to try and save someone. In Persona 3 (and on), the means of gaining and summoning Personas changes. Each day, there is a 25th hour where everyone is encased in a coffin unless they have the potential to unlock a Persona. This is initially triggered by a near-death experience, and so those guns they point at their heads, “Evokers”, fire a kind of blank which triggers that feeling without harming them. During this 25th hour, a group of Persona users delve into a tower from which shadows come out to kill people. The main characters’ Personas in this game all relate to death in some way, such as Orpheus. In Persona 4, you unlock your Persona by facing your true, inner self and accepting that those things that you hate are truly a part of you. This can only happen in a world accessed by entering TVs or being pushed into them by people who already have their Persona. The plot of the game revolves around using the world inside the TVs to solve a string of murders. The main characters’ Personas in this game are mostly based on Japanese deities. In Persona 5, certain people suddenly have an app appear on their phones which allow them to enter a place called the Metaverse. By entering the Metaverse, Persona users can “change the hearts” of people to make them regret their horrible actions (such as abuse, murder, extortion, etc.). The main characters’ Personas for this game are manifestations of rebellion and are things like Arsene Lupin, Captain Kidd, and Loki.

So essentially there are 6 primary games: Revelations Persona, P2 duology(Innocent Sins and Eternal Punishment), 3, 4 and 5. 3 started the trend of enhanced re-releases having two: Fes which included a few new add ons like a combat focused epilogue set one day after the main plot called the Answer which released a year after the og and then Portable, which did stuff like removing the over world and cutscenes tho adding things like a female protag( therefore male romances), part time jobs and full controllable allies, the last bit added in P4 which released the year before. 4 Holden and 5 Royal added new characters, unlockable new story content and new features, like Golden added bonding through riding mopeds while Royal added new activities, grappling hook and special techniques called Showtimes. Then comes the spinoffs and sequels which don't have to be played but add more onto the characters: P4 Arena duology being a pair of fighting games tht act as sequels to both 4 and 3. Then the cartoony ones are the PQ duology tht are a crossover between 3 and 4, then adding 5 in the sequel which are exclusive to the 3ds. The dancing games are non canon rythm titles which was released in 2015 to capitalize on P4's success and since tht did well Atlus released ons for 3 and 5 3 years after. Strikers is a hack and slash set the Summer after P5 which has the gang on a road trip. Lastly Tactica is the tactical turnbased sequel, so essentially P5 meets Fire Emblem, with a cartoonesque art style

no one explained that the rereleases were updates to the games aye? persona 5 royal was a re-release of persona 5, persona 4 golden and persona 3 fes for 4 and 3. Basically atas releases the games 1st and then listens to the fan's feedback for quality of life, and they add some extra story, extra dialog options, a whole extra post game story. those are main games you wanna play. the Q series (chibi) are non-cannon bridges between the games, so persona q 1, connects persona 3 and 4, and persona q2 connects 4 and 5. the dancing in moon/star/etc light are the dancing spin offs. think Dance dance revolution but with the OST from the persona games. Persona 4 Arena is like a street fighter/mortal kombat style fighting game between persona 3 and 4.

Persona 3 FES, 4 Golden and 5 Royal are enhanced editions with some quality of life changes, and an optional extra chapter to the main story. P3 portable was a simplified PSP game with a choice between a male and female protagonist. Arena and Ultimax are 2D fighting games. The ones with "dancing" in the titles are rythm game spinoffs. Q and Q2 are crossover spinoffs. Persona 5 Scramble or Persona 5 Strikers (same game, different name for the english release) is a Dynasty Warriors type of game. Persona 5 Tactica is like an XCOMs game. Persona 3 Reload is the first true remake of a persona game. Not just minor changes and extra content but a completely rebuilt game.

I would say a lot of the joy of this game is from taking your time to enjoy it. Also, I've heard persona 3 is the best of the three, story-wise, so I am very excited to play it. I never played the original because I was apprehensive to play it when my friend said its a lot less player friendly and didnt have a lot of the quality of life features that persona 5 had... but now thats its coming out modern, I feel like it will be one of my favorite games if its better than persona 5.

So as someone who has loved this series for a long, long time I can break it down like this, P1 and P2 are the serious ones, fighting against demons and have been remade, you won't see much of them, Persona 3 is a Thriller, Persona 4 is A Murder Mystery, and Persona 5 is a Heist movie, P3 FES, P4 GOLDEN, and P5 ROYAL are the same story with more added to it to flesh out the story more, like better DLC that adds to the systems and Mechanics, P4 Arena and P4 Arena ULTIMAX are a fighting game continuation of P4 and P3 story, the rhythm games Dancing All(4)/Star(5)/Moon(3) night are also continuations that are.... Technically cannon but you don't need to know, The two PersonaQ games are spinoffs that are not cannon, P5 Scramble/strikers is a Mouso (dynasty warriors) Style game that happens after P5, P3P(or table) is a PSP game that is basically an alternate version of Persona 3, the PersonaQ games belong to Nintendo and we probably won't see any releases on them anymore, Persona 3 RELOAD Is the Persona 3 remake coming out this year

Persona 1 and 2 were more your classic JRPGs set in a school location. Persona 3 onwards adopted a half JRPG half Social sim style. Also a lot of these were out of order due to remakes and spinoffs but as far as the main series goes Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 golden and Persona 5 Royal are the big ones. Plus they’re all their own individual stories like FF however it’s all set in the same universe so like in persona 4 you go and visit the persona 3 school and in 5 characters from 4 are mentioned on the tv and there’s posters and whatnot. The spinoffs are in other genres like Fighting games, Rythm games and my personal favorites are the Persona Q games which act like Etrian Odyssey which are dungeon crawlers where you draw the map as you explore it and solve puzzles and stuff. It was a bit confusing in this video they probably should have grouped them by series like all the persona 2 then all the persona 3 just to lessen some of the bouncing back and forth.

I think Persona 1 & 2 were the only ones remotely connected in the story since the series was originally just a spin off of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Yesss Persona 3 Reload is the remake it’s new opening intro is so good too, tho I still like the old one simply cuz it’s Burn my dread song lol. New one’s good too tho. Persona 3 male protag name is either Minato or Makoto (dependent on either manga or game/anime), Persona 4 Male MC is between Yu Narukami/Souji seta (Yu is more canon/used), Persona 5 Mc is Ren Amamiya/Akira Kurusu (Ren is more canon/used). By used I mean Atlus uses Yu and Ren officially and I think for P3 it’s Makoto that’s more used but I go Minato simply cuz P5 has a character in the main party cast already using the name Makoto. P3P is a version of P3 that gives you a chance of choosing a female MC which I think out of fan made name that Atlus now sticks by is Kotone? Yes there are different stories but they do link in some way or another (at least between persona 3-5). Persona 3 has its base game just P3, then there’s P3P introducing femc, then P3FES (FES has extra story ending). P4 base game, P4A (has both P3 cast and p4 cast). P4G is P4 but a bit more story and a new female character. Then there’s P5, P5 royal, P5S, and now P5T latest spinoff. Between the three games they all have a fun spinoff being the dancing games which has its own funny story. The funny thing about the dancing games is it’s actually P3 vs P4 vs P5 casts but they don’t know that and only their velvet attendants knows I believe 😂. There is a part in the p5 dancing game where one character’s story or “social link” matches with a character from p3 but in an anonymous way. Other then that there’s the persona Q series (chibi ones) on the 3DS which one is p3 and p4 cast and then another being p4 and p5 cast.

Just because i’m getting annoyed Persona 1, 2:Eternal Punishment, 2:Innocent Sin, The Persona 1+2 remasters, 3, 3FES, 3Portable, 4, 4Golden, 5, 5Royal, Q, and Q2 are all turn-based JRPGS. Everything I just mentioned, except for Q and Q2 are the mainline Persona games. Which means when Persona 6 comes out, it will be a turn-based RPG. Now, for all the Spinoffs. Most of the time, Spinoffs delve into other genres. I’ll list them and the genre. Persona Q and Q2 are the only exceptions to this rule. They stick to turn-based. Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, and Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight are all rhythm based games. Think DDR but with a different style. You’ll have to look up gameplay of them to understand. Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are 2D fighting games. Some Persona 3 characters are incorporated in the game/story. Ultimax is a direct sequel to the original Arena game. In Japan, these games are titled P4U and P4U2, respectively. Persona 5 Strikers, is a Warriors game, like Hyrule Warriors or Dynasty Warriors. It’s a direct sequel to Persona 5. Persona 5 Tactica is a Tactics game, like Fire Emblem. Also part of Persona 5’s story. All spinoffs are considered canon unless confirmed otherwise.
