A much more casual overlord explained video revisiting and addressing some issues with one of my older ones. While I did my best to address concerns in the comments, I felt it necessary to update the info with what I know now instead of just leaving it as is. Think of this as a supplement to the original video rather than a redone version.

See personally I'm more of the peron that I came to hear the video, I didn't come to hear you ramble for 2 minutes BEFORE the video. Get me into the content, let me watch the video, grow some repor and put the corrections at the end. Do you want new viewers to say ok this is another click bait title, x out and move on. That decision is usually made within the first minute. Why do you think that most TV shows have a short opening compared to closing. Because they want to get you envolved with the show. Look back to the ealier years of TV. They had a longer opening, do you know why, they were contractually obligated to because of the Screen Actors Guild. They needed to get their names in your face because they needed validation and praise. Learn from print media on this one, you don't have a contact that you have to put the actors names at the beginning of TV or film because you aren't regulated by those SAG people. DONT BURY THE LEAD. You put all the selling points at the beginning and for those that care to read the entire paper they find those corrections on the back page, at the end, This way the important stuff has been gone over before the viewer loses interest. And it would be good while you do the outro, say a special thanks to those who stayed around and listened to the rabble.

@@ZeronicKiba tbf overlord shows perfectly that even those that are hyperintelligent are still hampered in their understanding of everything thanks to their personalities and biases. I'd evsn say it also pretty neatly shows through renner that the hyperintelligent ones without a purpose are much more likely to pay attention to everything in their surroundings way more. And that being weaker than those around her forced her to keep a more open mind so that more possible solutions can present itself. She even ends up admitting that she didn't expect ainz's act. Showing us that she other than those in nazarick besides ainz actively reviews her thoughts and experiences.

If anybody is confused as to why the dragon emperor is to blame for the arrival of players in the nw, platinum dragon lord has a skill called world connector.

It does explain how Platinum's father did it. He had gained the ability to look into other worlds and found Yggdrasil. He saw the world items and wanted them. Using his position as dragon emperor he had a wild magic ritual cooked up and sacrificed countless lives to feed it. He waited for the last second before that world ended and cast the spell. Sadly, it didn't go according to plan. A massive amount of the energy was consumed making the world items real then they fought against being pulled to him. World items resist the affects of other world items. This is why they show up at different times in rough "waves". Its never been explained if the number of items affected how long it took you to show up or not. Ainz guild base had 11 after all and we know the 6 gods had at least one. -edited for spelling cause i mess up sometimes sorry.

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply and thanks a lot for the shoutout! I'm glad that you corrected your mistakes and did not ignore them like most people do. This time however, there are some small wrong details: 1-You totally forgot about Martials Arts being pre-tier magic along side Runecraft and Wild Magic. Also, Runecraft uses real world Norse mythology symbols and so its not exactly 100% NW-related, it could either be a Ygg thing or inspired by a player. 2- The Evil deities were NPCs only in the WN, plus they showed up 400 years later meaning even if they were NPCs it does not mean they went nuts cause they were gone. (There are some theories of Slane using Downfall on them) 3- Also I might have made a mistake before but just cause five elements overcoming world item could change the mechanics does not mean that it was the same item the 8GKs used it, again only speculation not a fact. 4- You Mentioned Minitour Sage and PDL were on good terms, false we don't even have any evidence they even met each other. 5- You said heteromorphic races are generally stronger than human players, wrong. It all depends on each player's build and heteromorphs are actually more limited due to race weakness and efficient build types. 6- You said 8GKs were human, wrong. They were more described as non humans at the very least we can determine not all of them were human players. -Raven. You should really read the Light Novel and go deeper into that, you will get a shit ton of more infos!

5- if I’m not wrong aren’t the heteromorphs stronger in fact for every advantage they gained over humans and Demi humans they also gained a weakness. They were also harder to level because there were no consequences for Pking heteromorphs, so they were mostly hunted down. Ask I feel that a level 100 heteromorph is likely to be much stronger than human or Demi humans, unless you intentionally made a shit build

There’s a theory that what PDL’s Father wanted was the World Items from Yggdrasil and used his Magic to bring them to his World. He unintentionally brought players who had those items and that’s what cause the events to happen the way they did.

while humanoid races are the "Weakest" race demi-human usually have about 2x stats of humanoids and hetromorph usually had 3x stats of a human, however stats means less in the late game especially because it was easy too lvl up. humans couldn't get race lvls while demi-humans and hetromorphs could which race lvl was what boosted the stats, however race lvl and class lvl both took away from your lvl up so humans had too put all 100 lvls into class lvl which long term is better then race lvls (for most players)

In the endgame humans and hetromrphs where simular in strengh but hetros where harder to make and couldn't go into towns and stuf so humans where the most popular If heteros trurly where more powerful in endgame then all hardcore gamers would use them.

my idea is that 8GG were probably all lvl 100 because - they were able to fight each other for a while so they were probalby around same level - there were able to kill and required many DLs to defeat, so definetly lvl 100 and having strong items - They had a guild base and also had at least 1 World Item. So unlikely that they werent at least top tier players on the server. - lvl 100 wasnt so hard to get... i dont think they would be all "alt characters" I like to think they would be comparable to Nazarick. Maybe the 8GG would have some lvl 100 NPCs with them but Nazarick had much stronger items Nazarick was one of (or maybe the) strongest bases in the game. It had a huge amount of levels (because they conquered on 1st try) and was able to generate much more lvl 100 NPCs than other guilds.. Also Ainz Ooal Gown had an abnormal amount of World Items. A testament to the force of the guild, even though they werent the strongest in numbers.

just a note on them having a world item, it is told the way you got them was obscure crazy gimmicks that the devs put in the game so that almost no one would find them. So its possible some of them arent combat related and more like finding a easter egg in a game. Like going into the cake room in Portal, or leaving the boundaries in Breath of the wild. So having a world item doesnt necesarily explain they are extremely strong level wise

3:10 thats not how it works. NPC's levels originate from a pool of levels that bases had. For example: Imagine that you just conquered a dungeon, this dungeons has 500 levels, this means that you can create 5 lv 100 NPC's or you can create 10 lv 50 NPC's, how you distribute those levels is your choice.

You are slightly wrong in the vid, any casual player would have reached lvl 100 pretty quickly (provided he wasn't unprotected low lvl heteromorph to be PKed over and over). But just because most players were lvl 100 doesn't nearly imply their strength was about the same. The real grin was for equipment, world class items, min maxing your build (all knowledge was considered extremely valuable, for example Ainz just randomly acquired one of his trump cards "The goal of all life is death" by having enough lvl in certain undead classes. If it was widely known there is so strong move, probably more players would have gone that way. Tho there were groups that would publicate any discoveries made, which Ainz summed up to be extremely unwise). Players would go over a cycle: get killed-> lose some lvl -> lvl up again -> lvl up something again in hope for stronger overall build. And if we trust Ainz memory lvling was pretty easy

I think the elf mistake comes from the eight greed kings. One of them was an elf because he is Zesshi's grandfather and what makes her a godkin. Zesshi is allied with the Slane Theocracy that worships the 6 gods being 5 humans and an undead. Zesshi is with Slane because of her mother, to escape her godkin father. Hope that helps.

-re: tiered magic, I'm almost 100% certain it was the 6 great gods who made tiered magic not the 8 greed kings, though that's admittedly from a rusty memory; and it's not known if they did it with a world item or a wish spell (like Ains ring); note this lore comes from the WEBNOVEL not the lightnovels. -re: greedkings; they were undoubtedly part of one of the top gilds in the MMO, and the 8 kings were definately at or near max level. they had a number of world items, and a guild hall, they would have ruled the world invincible had it not been for the fact they started warring with each other. As a sidenote, they could respawn in their guild hall, and this was what made them impossible to face even by all the dragonlords. What it took to kill them was one of the world items; a sword which prevented resurrection and created "perma-death" which one of the greed kings went around with killing his guildmates with; when he was the last greed king left he was attacked by the last dragonlords and they basically spawn camped him, dwindling his level down with death after death, until they got their hands on the sword/world item to finish him for good. I believe this story came from the webnovel. -re: the tragic hero dying and not wanting to be resurrected. this is the "great hero" who was around when PDL was traveling around as a suit of armor, taking on all the evil gods; I don't believe he was one of the 8 greed kings.

I love that your getting into more Overlord stuff, keep up the good work. 👍 I'd like to point a few things out tho; 5:53 it's not actually known how old Runecraft is, all that we do know is that it was the dominant magic system used by the dwarves at least 200 years before Nazarick arrived. It's actually been theorized by Ainz that Runecraft was an undiscovered magic system originally from Yggdrasil since one of the runes, Lagu, is recognised to be a rune from Ainz's original world (it's a real rune from our world too). Another thing to note is that it's possible that the other races, like humans, still had access to Martial Arts and Talents before they had access to Tier Magic.

I have my own theory about: Six Great Gods, Eight Greed Kings, Evil Deities, and Dragon Emperor: 1- 3:04 Evil Deities are NPCs of the Six Great Gods in "Web Novel" only. But there was a possibility that they were summon from a World Item, 'cause in YGGDRASIL, there was a World Item which could summon an unlimited number of demons that would eventually consume the entire world. This World Item might be the 'cause of the Evil Deities, who spread chaos and destruction throughout the land until they were all eventually defeated by the Thirteen Heroes. 2- 5:11 Maybe one of the Six Great Gods, had use a Super-Tier Magic [Shooting Star or Wish Upon A Star] on the remaining humans only, and them alone, not Dragon Lords and heteromorphs, to use Tier-Magic or Talents. Only after the Eight Greed Kings might have used "Five Elements Overcoming", that dragons and heteromorphs have a talent to use Tier Magic [elves, lizardman, and frost dragons]. 3- 12:48 There was a strong possibility that the Eight Greed Kings were not humans, but rather Dragonoid Players, which is why Dragon Lords attack them first, they view them as rivals or the Eight Greed Kings attack them first without realizing it. Because in YGGDRASIL, a dragon body parts were use to produce powerful magic strolls or special items. That's why the Dragon Lords attack them first as a revenge, which the Eight Greed Kings possibly fought back in self-defense and overdid it by exterminating them to near extinction, by targeting higher-level Dragon Lords and leaving lower-level dragons as their last target. And a possibility of how the Eight Greed Kings fought amongst each other, due to them having a blood and greed of a dragon, or the Slane Theocracy had used "Downfall of Castle and Country" on a female player and use her to manipulate them into a civil war. The Slane Theocracy possibly did this as a revenge for killing Surshana, their last God of Death. 4- 13:59 There was a possibility that the Dragon Emperor and his fellow Dragon Lords had performed a "Wild Magic Ritual" together to summoned World Items from YGGDRASIL, and accidentally brought Players and Guild Bases with them to the New World. And a possible weakening of wild magic, 'cause wild magic needed too much HP or life energy of many Dragon Lords, or souls. Maybe that's how the Eight Greed Kings easily exterminate the Dragon Lords, because their wild magic is too weak before the main timeline and Overlord Bonus Novel.

humans while being the weakest by stats are actually stronger since they can take more job classes. the meta pick was human, that's why heteromorphs were pk-ed so much and it caused that whole thing in yggdrasil. though that doesn't mean demihuman or heteromorphs were actually weak. it was just the meta. like in games some characters are 'weak' theoretically but if a player who likes it uses it and is actually competent, they can be the strongest. Just like Touch Me was a heteromorph bugman and was the strongest pvp-er out of everyone in yggdrasil. The strongest guild in Yggdrasil was angel-based. Most likely a lot of heteromorph angels and seraphim and some humans of course. So, while humans being the meta-pick (probably because they were easier to use) doesn't necessarily mean they were the strongest.

I think that the idea that one of the Six Great Gods where an Elf is because the Elf King is imensly strong by New World standards. Thus many fans speculate that The Elf King is a descendant of a player. Its likely that The Elf King is a descendant of a player that was not part of the great gods but its also possible that The Elf King is simply an outlier who is not a descendant of a player but simply was born with the potential to be stronger than average.

A Divinity Original Sin 2 or Baldur's Gate 3 type game but in Overlord would be so cool. Imagine creating radically different world states based on how you decide to play Momonga from the start. The game would be more focused on story and decisions and less so on combat, though combat would exist, because obviously there's really not much in the way of challenge for Momonga.

I think one important problem lots of people miss out on is that live service games like mmo-rpgs change over time. For example the level cap on wow I think was level 60 when the game was released, as of today the level cap is 85. Because Ains was transported to the new world at the end of the life of the game I think it is safe for us to assume that it is possible the previous player transported to the new world could have been from an older version of the game, and that many of the things that Ains brought to the new world are also completely never seen before by previous players. The only problem about this idea is that we don't know how time in the new world passes relative to the real world. Even though the history of players in the new world is 600 years old it is possible that all of these players were transported to the new world at the same time as Ains, but they arrived in the new world at completely different timelines.

I can’t remember where I heard it but I listened to a conversation, I believe with Mariyama, but because exp was used as part of spells and so many other applications that most players leveled quickly. You could easily reach level 100, the “fun” was testing and retesting combinations, classes, exploration, you had to write your own guide book, players didn’t share information, it was a way more complex experience. But “level 100” was common even early on.

In the Anime said specifically the Slane Theocracy that when Ainz killed the 180 k people on the Katze Plaines that he used the magic of the gods more over in season 4 they also claimed they knew about 11 tier magic meaning that the six great Gods we able to used high tier magic more likely players level 100 and that's a fact for any gamer we all know that if you wanna use special features in a game you have to level up before actually using weapons ,spells and special gear and supers.

Was actually excited to see armor that looks like a player is using them (gundam red, and platinum armor with floating weapons) Turns out they're not players and realizing most likely Ainz existed in the current timeline without any fellow players alive with him. 3:40 I am not so sure if what I am about to say remains true for the world of Overlord/Yggdrasil but in MMOs usually getting to max level is not the hard part or anything truly notable in any MMO game. Max level is early-midgame or the point where the game at all starts, as max level means you are allowed to be anywhere, and are generally no longer bound to the plot. You can grind and do events with rewards that are actually worth while (drops are normally bound by the currently level and a multiplier, doing events not at max level is a waste of time) and the experiance of the game becomes one where you usually try to get as high a damage value dealt as possible. In games like 'Draken Sang Online' (a game I play), getting to the current max of 100 is easy, but you do only about 100k damge, not enough to be considert a good player, you'll want 1.2Mil in damage to be in the endgame and even then you are not anywhere near done with the game, about 98% of the game is spent at max level and the hard grind of rare and valuable stuff. My point is, it would not be weird for all players who come from Yaggdrasil to have the same level as Ainz Ooal Gown. Only the stats count, gotten via the skills picked and items grinded for; estimating the level is meaningless, as anything other then max is by default smallfry.

I agree with that! It's stated in the LNs that most players rarely had a single piece of Divine Level gear, but Ainz and his friends grinded to allow all of them to possess full Divine Level gear. And now Ainz has nothing but several full sets of Divine Level gear in his base's treasury vault. sure he can't pull out their full potential due to being hyper-specialized but as soon as he uses *[Wish Upon A Star]* to take Nferia's talent then Ainz will be able to use ALL the high level gear without any restrictions!

They could've also just have different builds. Strongest probably meant strongest in combat overall which level plays a big part but isn't the end all be all. Maybe he just had a really combat-oriented build and/or had the most time planning his build.

most likely there was. there was a guy in the thirteen heroes who was known to be extremely weak but came back always stronger. based on how maruyama described the guy, it's like he was a level 1 player levelling up each time and just became stronger. (he was mentioned by the buff girl to climb when climb was asking for help to become stronger). of course because he doesn't have the resources to get the proper job classes and items, he was weaker than fully stacked yggdrasil players. but still, plenty strong in the new world to battle the evil demon lords? I forgot their names. You get what I'm trying to say. This is all just speculation though.

From my perspective :- PDL know about the Players because he is also a player and he has a father in new world is because he just want to hide his identity of being a player so he make a fake father. PDL has about 3-4 world items and searching for more items. Also in the new episode there is a dialogue by PDL :- "We are the one who changed this world structure so we have to take responsibility , because of our power this world changed" , this line gives 100% surebility that he is a player. Also thanks to Akashi for more knowledge, by the way i know most of the information tho but still thanks. ( EDIT: Yes it is stated that level 100 isnt that hard to get for decent players but pretaning to the human race specifically most didnt have to if they didnt want to reach 100 because they chose to fight were they had the advantage which was early to mid range levels, and in this game you can choose to stay around the level you want. Because when you start seeking fights at the level you want sometimes you lose (and lose levels) and some times you win (gain levels). this guild was pretty much all human were talking about as far as leveling goes here. As for why they had advantage and choose to fight at these levels: There were a staggering about of human players in the game world yggdrasil, because the human race was the "meta" they had to put all there levels into there class skills because they didn't have race specific or extra "bloodline" based skills to put lvls into. This made them stronger than most non human races at lower to mid range levels even though non human races stats are boosted to balance them a bit. But at top end levels 90 to 100 this balances out: level 100 human = a level 80 non human. (In terms of raw stats alone) at the largest race margins. This is Because some non humans have less stat boost and some have more. Yes at low to mid levels human is stronger and non humans were hunted for that resson along with the fact that there was no penalty for killing them. However as the guild Ainz ool Gown proved at max level the balancing system works correctly and puts them at an advantage in most cases at high level gameplay along with them all being skilled players. END EDIT ) It seems like they were definitely at least at or around max level. To have and accomplished what they did. We can draw that conclusion based off what Ainz and the Supreme beings had/did. We're never told that Momon/Ainz's guild were the Number one top guild there ever was. However we know they were all 100+ (counting exp they used other things for which is the "+".) the achievements that the guild members had definitely shows there skill and hard-core nature in which they play. Touch-Me for example had world champion armor, and alot of the items they made/obtained suggests that Ainz's guild were at least near the top guilds in the server. I mean no one was ever able to even make it to the Thrown room to fight them back in the game world. We're talking about as far as who is mentioned in the Anime players that are pretty highly leveled/skilled players. The majority of players really never had to or tried to achieve level 80 or above for several reasons and (perhaps) the crazy grind required to do it wasn't worth the benefits. You can on paper make a character level 64 to 75 and really have a fully functional "build" and still be a pretty decent crafter/other skills as well. You had to be pretty dedicated or wealthy and dedicated to want to shoot for a max level build pushing the level 90's to 100 range. Even Ainz has alot of skills lines that really aren't specific for the build he wanted to create because he had everything and more on the "max level necromancer Lich" (and all the requirements for doing that side of things.) After makeing his build he seemed to focus on getting as many magic abilities and as much mp as posable while still being pretty balanced base stat wise.

One thing that I don't often see brought up when discussing players- based on Momon's start, it is almost a certainty that the isekai'd players will all have been those who were there when the servers shut down. A popular MMO wouldn't just decide to shut down unless there were financial issues, so its safe to say that the game was on a decline. It was also shutting down at midnight, so it is very likely that only the most loyal players were there.

I agree that PDL probably killed Riku. He expressed some guilt over something with Riku. In his interactions with the Drop of Red guy we see PDL can be cold and calculating to ppl for the sake of his justice. He seems like the kind of guy who would keep Riku around for his usefulness, then kill him when that usefulness comes to an end. His justice could very well be 'player=evil'.

Just found you're channel, and i'm not a LN reader, but i do have a question; and spoilers are fine. if PDL knows about players, then he HAS to know about ainz right? an undead/lich taking over Re-Estize kingdom AND having blonde homies kindom as a vassel state isn't normal undead behavior, and you have to be pretty strong to achieve such things. also it's not like the spell that killed what, 80k? 200k? and spawned dark young, that's not like a secret? so my questions are: 1. will we see other players ANYTIME in the next season or two? (or ever?) 2. Will we see PDL or others who know about players, talk to ainz/etc in the next season of future?

I would suggest that the six great gods were the ones to use five elements overcoming, it seems unlikely that all six were completely martial characters, so they wouldn't have been able to use their magic without the use of five elements, that's also part of the reason the theocracy enshrined them as gods, because they gave humans the ability to face the more powerful races. In the same vein the dragonlords wild magic hasn't really changed, but tier magic doesn't require the same costs, especially in terms of life being sacrificed, they call tier magic the taint of the dragon emperor because his actions brought the players who introduced tier magic which destroyed their monopoly on power, as even the most good hearted of the dragonlords are still somewhat arrogant. They just ddn't come into conflict with the six great gods, who were more concerned with surviving and establishing a way for other humans to survive in a world where they had no advantages to speak of

Level 100 was the level cap of the last version of YGGDRASIL. I would think is more accurate to say they where at the level cap of the version of YGGDRASIL when they arrived at the new world. A guild base disappearing from YGGDRASIL would have being something Momonga would have being aware off; I he would know it by name. I honestly belive, that the prior player arrival would coincide with prior times when the servers where shutdown, to to version upgrades; moments at which the level cap would be increased also.
