ALL POINTS NORTH | 1000km ultra-endurance race

All Points North is a self-supported, ultra-distance, endurance cycling event ( www.allpointsnorth.cc/ ).
The ’72-hour’ riders set off from event HQ on Friday, 26th May with the challenge to ride to 10 control points spread around the north of England and return to event HQ for a finisher’s meal at 8pm on Monday, 29th May.
Riders are able to choose their own route around the checkpoints and can either ride solo or as a pair. Once out on the road, riders have to be completely self-sufficient, are unable to accept support from anyone and must follow the event rules.
Of the 160 places offered, 130 riders arrived at the start line at A Different Gear and set off on their route around the 10 checkpoints.
85 riders made it back to the finishing line: 39 x 72H solo riders, 7 x 72H pair riders, 33 rookie solo riders and 6 rookie pair riders.

Well done Richard! My son Michael also did the APN23. I'm amazed that anyone could do such a feat. I have a new bike and I'm training up, and I have rather a long way to go before I could even attempt something half that distance. Take care and bless you :)

You can do it! Thanks Stuart. APN was tough, the biggest aspect of that race was the climbing more than anything. So many big big climbs, the distance is one thing, but the climbing I felt overshadowed it. Especially the Dales, Lake District and Pennine sections.

Hey well done ...I'm trying to plan a route from stoke to St Anne's blackpool but a really scenic canal tow path route to keep things simple and flat as much as possible ..do you suppose its possible ?

The Wasdale Head ‘dead end’. Don’t know if it was within the rules, but you could have hike-a-biked over Sty Head Pass to Borrowdale and then onto Keswick?

If this skirts around Scafell pike then indeed this is what a couple of people did, but it was made clear before / during the race that they should still to the bridleway and stay off the footpath.
