I love how in the first 2 games that Luigi just wakes up not thinking someone woke him up but in Luigi's Mansion 3, he knows Polterpup is waking him up and wants him to continue his quest

Luigi’s Mansion 2: Luigi is aware of Polterpup but did not know he was unintentionally labelled as a traitor by being woken up by him. Luigi’s Mansion 3DS: Luigi did not meet Polterpup. But somehow he slipped in with Gooigi on E.Gadd’s time machine to aid Luigi in the past. With the dog bones also coming from the future, he can basically wake him up to ensure the timeline isn’t fucked up by Gooigi in any way. Luigi’s Mansion 3: Luigi knows. Luigi is aware. They are partners.

Not necessarily. If there's only a few years between them, then Polterpup should exist already. It just needs to go from Evershade Valley to Boo Woods, and it will find the Luigi of that time. Maybe he actually remembers Luigi then when they meet in Dark Moon.

Nope, Polterpup was introduced in Dark Moon along with the Gold Bone. If you have one and lose all your health, Polterpup will steal it and revive you. In the remake, you can only get Gold Bones by using amiibo, but they function the same way. And, of course, they return in Luigi's Mansion 3, and they still function the exact same.
