The Kwumsy K2 Keyboard was a unique design and concept, but didn't have the software integration to make it work. Will the Kwumsy KX Portable Monitor suffer that same fate, or will it fall to the same fate?

Now all we need is an LCARS like touch screen interface for screens like this, that doesn't relocate your mouse cursor.

This would be super useful for people like myself with a small office desk but could use any extra screen real estate to add to their laptop. It'd help speed up my charting for sure

If this had stylus support, this would be my ideal mobile monitor. Also, I want to do the Minority Report thing. If gesture interfaces were a thing, I'd be pretty happy with it.

I would say for that price, adding a 2k 120-144hz ips with at least 100% sRGB I think would turn it from a substandard monitor into a value.

Might be good for a home automation interface where you rarely pull up the keyboard to change settings or log in and use touch buttons the rest of the time.

Linux (Xorg) has multi-pointer capability. For windows there are tools like MouseMux to achieve the same, tho I don't know how a touch screen would get treated.

Sure do love a handy little bastard adapter. My brain still tickles at the thought of sticking a raspberry pi inside that Kwumsy keyboard with the widescreen display built into it... would go nicely with my TRS-80 Model 100.

Hi Jeff! It is really interesting, but the price and color quality are disappointing. To be fair, we've got an ok portable monitor that was cheap and isn't getting replaced. On the other hand, that WinMax 2 is looking pretty sexy over there 🙂

Could be used for a customer facing POS display. I wonder if it could pass certification for that usecase. Most touchscreens fail in the most pressed areas after some time.

On windows, Mouse Mux lets you have multiple mice with their own cursors and you can optionally choose to lock them to a screen. You may be able to set the touch input as a mouse and lock that cursor to that screen so your traditional mouse input is free to move across all screens and not jump around or disappear. Purely academic speculation, but worth investigating.

OSes have separate touch input, but yes a lot of the time it moves the cursor too. They are usually built with one mouse in mind, but there is Linux and a software solution for Windows to have multiple cursors which should allow touch to work as in independent pointer.

Hey Crafty, @ 7:00 you said the mouse cursor was hidden on your main monitor when you adjusted the DAW sliders on the touchscreen, yes? I suppose you have tried this setting in Windows 10. Maybe? Go into Settings, Mouse, Additional Mouse Properties, Pointer Options and then un-checking the box "Hide pointer while typing." I don't have a DAW or touchscreen monitor so I did the following test. Open a Word document, click in the document, move the mouse cursor AWAY from the Word window and type some text into the document. The text was entered into the Word document and the mouse cursor was visible and movable in the other window. Happy Happy, Joy Joy!

This is an awesome portable KVM console. I've been emulating this on the cheap - a cheap tablet + hdmi to usb adapter + android webcam app + tablet keyboard. It's generally shit to use but indispensable when troubleshooting without screen/keyboard on hand.

Yep! Can you use the expensive cepture card to use on the tablet ? I think that only the cheap capture cards are recognized by the android as a webcam. But idk, I'd love to know.

I briefly installed a ELO touchscreen monitor I think that was the brand. they had a driver because it was a serial device that allowed me to choose which monitor it acted on and I believe it also returned the mouse to the proper screen. Course this was windows only I couldn't get the thing to work on Mac with a USB serial port. The problem is windows is banking on you having multiple touchscreens and when you do that you touch the other screen and it will return the mouse to the proper monitor usually.

I bought a touchpad display for my wife for use on her laptop (around $150). However, the manufacturer says it is not compatible with the laptop so I had to give her a mini computer to use with it. At first she used the keyboard on the display and used the touch screen to navigate in Windows 10, but she rarely uses the touchscreen now (in part because she forgets it's a touch screen).

I prefer my Lapdoc for this type of application... but admittedly lapdocs are ALSO expensive. I have ALSO been waiting for a 120hz display on a lapdoc too. I dream of an ITX desktop PC with the option of portabalizing with lapdoc that has a backlit keyboard AND 120-144hz display.

It looks really useful, but I am not a fan of on screen keyboards. I really like the stand design. The touch VS mouse issue could be fixed if windows hid the mouse pointer while using the touch screen and returned the mouse curser to its original position when the mouse was moved again.
