I'm glad racing devs don't have a Bethesda like team, because then all the cars would be a hat that an npc below the track wears as they run around.

I'm glad I i snagged this. After playing art of rally, i needed more! The handheld point was spot on by the way!

I was gonna say Art of Rally fits a lot of what he’s praising in this. This looks great though, I gotta check it out.

It's not the Devs releasing broken games. It's the publishers. They decide release dates and will send games out into the wild even if the Devs push back. Indies don't have this issue as much as the publishers are usually kinda of indie themselves

Agile software development at its finest. Just deliver something.. then take care of the bugs.. maybe
@spankyjeffro532011 ай бұрын
Depends what you mean by "broken". Most people have no idea what it takes to develop a video game, especially not how challenging it can be and how demanding idiots can be. If by broken you mean specifically "this thing does not work as the developers intended", then yes. If you mean "I don't like it", then no.

Thanks. This game was not on my radar, for EUR 13 it's a steal.

I've recently gone back to old titles, via emulation, such as Daytona, Outrun2 and the sega rally series. What immediately became obvious, is that a lot of modern titles have forgotten, that no matter the level of graphical fidelity, the realistic handling and FFB simulation, games need to be FUN!

I have 1 weekend event and the last 24h event to beat to finish this game. It’s a great game and has a lot more going on with the physics and feel of the cars than you might expect from its old school visuals.

I certainly will try this game, it looks fantastic to be played on Steam Deck
@aaronogden990011 күн бұрын
It’s good on the Steam Deck. A few tracks with weather effects and loads of headlights shining can drop below 60 but it’s no big deal and you can always lock it to 45-50 for those tracks. Definitely a lot of fun on the Deck.

These comparisons between an indie game by one, or two people vs. a triple A game made by hundreds of devs don't work in the modern era of video games. Ideally, it would be nice if the big studios learned something form the smaller ones, but the reality is the scope and popularity of the games industry and who is running it (CEOs who've never played a game in their life) will always interfere with this e.g. Launching games that work is no longer a priority since many publishers have laid off their QA departments to cut costs. There used to be a time when videos like this weren't just blind optimism, but we're long past that point, unfortunately. The industry operates on segmented levels that no longer influence each other due to various factors, right or wrong.

I agree with a lot of this. I just don’t know what modern racers are missing to be truly great. (Aside from working and working well at release 🤦♂️) Like what made racing games of yesteryears seem to have such a better soul or spirit to them? Are games too formulaic now? Does the realism hurt them? Honestly not sure.

Super Wooden GP 2 or Circuit Superstars whats better?
@jacquesjtheripper59226 ай бұрын
I dont have woden 1 or 2 yet, i,have circuit superstars and i love it. U can do custom championships, there's a replay, controls well once u get the control on joystick. Ai is super competitive, and great for pitstop races, with damage, fuel, tire wear.

can we stop with bashing big developers and studios please, in 9/10 cases, the biggest reason for buggy releases is pressure from studio-management, they're being pressured by leadership from the publisher, and then they themselves are pressured by shareholders and licensing-partners to make sure they deliver on a yearly basis and within all the set parameters to ensure they keep pouring money into said publishers and studios' projects (even though leadership knows it's unreasonable, and so does studio-management and so do the devs, and to some extent, even the players!). the problem then, quite simply put, is too many cooks in the kitchen, entitled players with no chill and well, unless you want to pay even more for games, shitty code/design, simply due to loads of the dev-work needing to be outsourced to help keep costs reasonable. nothing in this video is news to any big studio/publisher, you need to address the ones those studio and publishing bosses need to answer too, the ones who provide the investments, as they're the ones to blame for the ridiculous deadlines which will turn any project into a steaming pile of dung.

The reason why laptops, macs, steamdecks and other devices are not for gaming is they absolutely suck when it comes to graphical fidelity (yes, it always matters), power life, device longevity, customization, and being a fucking heat-spewing brick of stupid. They are NOT meant to game, no matter how many times you slap a "gaming" sticker on them. Sure, you CAN technically play a small racing game on a phone, that does not mean phones are meant for gaming. They are looked down upon for good reason. Either game on a console, or game on a Desktop PC; no excuses.

So what is a steam deck for then exactly? Games look and run great on mine. Maybe yours is broken or, you know, you don't own one.
