Something interesting about Ruud...is when he has time infront of goal he always shoots on a half beat...so he speeds up his shot...so his shot isn't in like with his step pattern...it's like his snatching the shot a bit quicker than he needs to.. I bet that helps to catch keepers slightly unprepared

Great insight. I’m a big fight fan and this is something that a lot of fighters do where they trick their opponent into seeing a pattern occur with one strike and then on the half beat throw something else. Really cool to see this technique translate across sports!

Thought this after seeing the goal at 6:27. He didn’t look at the goal once, he knew the keeper would let him have a first touch before coming out so if he shot straight after, the keeper would have no chance of closing the space at the near post
