Leafs have 8 defensemen and 15 forwards on the roster and currently 1 million over the Cap. Pacioretty and Lorentz are still not signed but I am positive they will be in the lineup. They will be 3 million between the 2 of them. Trading Lily may be the best option. Trading Kampf might be the other option. If they send down Robertson and Reaves they would have to clear waivers. Reaves would most likely clear but Robertson will not. For me I think it's either Lily or Kampf. Of the 2 Kampf makes the most sense. Leafs would be short on Right handed D men.

That would make sense. Despite liljegren being nowhere near the player doughty is, he would fill the need for a puck moving RHD. I think the leafs would want draft capital instead of a contract so probably a win win.

Lil is a 7/8 D and his defensive performance in the playoffs was a horror show! I watched him fall behind the net after the Leafs had just scored and they got scored on. It happened twice in one game. To quote Deadpool, bye bye bye! Trade him.

Whether you like Lilly or not this seems, like many roster decisions now, a business decision. Leafs are squeezed and if you have guys who can do a serviceable job for less money that will win out . Free enough money up from average players and maybe you can afford something meaningful

Let's stop the n on sense about Kampf or even Jarnkrok being traded. Both M NTCs are won't have poor teams with cap on their trade list.

If they trade him it’ll be a mistake. Timmins is a turn over machine and just not very good. I assume Timmins would be the 7th which means of the leafs starting 6 D-man other then Benoit everyone will be in their 30’s, which is not a recipe for short term or long term success

Timmins had 18 giveaways in 25 games, Liljegren had 40 in 55. With 20 less games, Timmins had more takeaways. But the big kicker, you're talking $1.9 million difference in their cap hits.

Lyligren is as good Karlsson right now. Lyligren should be taken to the next level playing with OEL. Benoit has to play with McCabe. You don't give away such a smooth skater, accurate passer. Doesn't cause goals. Toronto drafted weight this year on the blue line 3 years from now Toronto needs a skating defenseman. Costing a 1st round pick. If this is about signing Patches, it's Patches that needs to take a discount to play with Matthews or Taveras on the power play. It's like the Leafs giving away Randy Carlyle.😂

Usually love your content but I'm sorry suggesting that Rafai and Timmins are higher on the depth chart than Lilly makes you lose some credibility. Lilly has elite +/- and numbers when given the chance to be the main guy. 17 points in 21 games when Rielly was out. Issue is the leafs org doesn't know how to develop and be patient with young defensemen. Also how are Rafai and Timmins higher on the org depth chart than Lilly when the org has invested 3M AAV into him?

Neither Nick or I said he was higher than Liljegren in the depth chart. Berube is valuing a few players over Lijegren at this time. Still some time left in camp. We did say that both Rafai and Timmons have moved up in the overall depth chart. - Darius

I would not sign Patcheredy because of his past injuries and will be like Lainey on Montreal so because of his age and go for a centre from the Ducks and Lelagren is too soft and cannot defend for himself in tough scrums. So good to trade him now for a centre to keep Nylander happy and Craig Berube for wahat he really needs and keep Robertson for sure. And Rafiy really impress me how good he placed on the right defence with aggresse toughness in the and great breakout plays whick Berbue wants.

Trade Liljegren and Kampf , Timmins and Robertson and go after a top 6 physical two way forward. Sign Patchs and Lorentz . Between Hakanpaa and Myers I think they will be great 3rd pair defense to pair with OEL and keep McCabe and Benoit together. Rifai and Webber are also very good left hand options for depth.
