One of my good friends is from Tuskegee. Both of his grandfathers were in those experiments. His family got nothing but turmoil and tragedy because of the Syphillis study. A pox on everyone involved with that experiment.

In everything that I have read about the "Tuskegee "Experiment", it did not say say she was unintelligent and unaware. He's saying she was complicit. She did not devise the experiment, she helped carry it out. That whole situation was heinous, tragic and sad.

I knew about the Sergon General Thomas Parran being involved. They had a building named after him at Pitt University and they removed his name when they learned about him. I did not know about her involvement. Thanks for the lesson!

I believe there was a study (or physical poisoning) of Guatemalans in the late 50's before the "Bay of Pigs" not exactly sure of the year but I think th OSS carried it out around 1,300 were injected with Syphilis.

I implore you all to read Medical Apartheid and learn her real role in the study. As well as other African American physicians. I think after you read that chapter you will gain an insight on her perspective. She was a single African American woman dominated in a white male medical society. This was during Jim Crow and in Alabama. I’m not saying she is free of blame what I’m saying is step back and look at the full picture. She was set up to look like a villain. She helps the men a small ways. The men were infected by the time she discovered the true intentions of the study.

Sounds like a clear case of Black on Black crime, which Hughley and others like Michael Eric Dyson say is not a thing, basically because people harm people they live near. They speak of crime from the perspective that physical proximity is their main consideration. How more close than two people be than family? When and where has any people ever considered harming a family member okay a thing to do? Can someone make this inexplicable stance/attitude by some of us make sense? This phase "all skinfolk ain't kinfolk" is said with an attitude of smugness, as if it is a good thing. Do they really hear what they are saying?
