I think its pretty clear which houses most suit each individual wolf. Constance and Hapi in the Black Eagles, Balthus in Golden Deer. Yuri is wildcard. Constance because of her connections with the empire and her goal to revive her house, Hapi because of her hatred of the church, and Balthus because of his relationship with Hilda and her brother. Most heroic stories involve rebellion against an empire. This story (or this version of the story) takes a reversal: an empire rebelling against a dominant (perhaps manipulative) religion.
@shadowsquid1351
@shadowsquid1351 4 жыл бұрын
This ain't heroic at all, it's the villain's route, just because ypu can play their side doesn't make it right, just like FE: Conquest before. Killing innocent ppl defending themselves from the empire's tyranny is evil, conquering long standing peaceful countries because we want to centralize power into a supreme ruler is more evil. It would be heroic if Edie worked in her own empire, fixed it & never invaded the other poor people. TWSitD are the evil ones, Rhea ain't that, church has way more good than bad, not to mention Rhea/church aren't in the empire to begin with.
@yoshikiawano7764
@yoshikiawano7764 4 жыл бұрын
While starting a war rarely is "morally good", mantaing the status quo of Fodlan is equaly so. Yes, the Church of Seiros does benevolent acts like cultivate talent and defend the populace with the Knights of Seiros, it also invest in mantain the current status which enshines nobility based on Crest and the Seiros faith over all else. While Rhea is not "evil", we cannot use arguments that say she did nothing wrong.
@shadowsquid1351
@shadowsquid1351 4 жыл бұрын
@@yoshikiawano7764 If Edie's war was in her own country I wouldn't be so against it, since her territory is the most screwed & it wouldn't include invasion/conquest of the other 2 peaceful countries that have their own rulers, regimes, reforms, people & ethics of their own. It's like if the US invaded Canada & Mexico by military force in hope for complete conquest because they wanted to run their countries in the US's own vision! Here's the thing where the story makes no sense, crests aren't to blame & u see how in every other route they're not even brought up, how they are mended without war (Hanneman). They're a personal problem to Edie herself, but to kill all these ppl in other countries because she doesn't like crests or because few nobles suffered at the hands of TWSitD is delusional. Rhea doesn't "control" Fodlan, since every country has a ruler, she has an influence yes but no control. What's worse is the empire didn't have Rhea or the southern church since they were kicked out from the empire 120 years ago. The nobility "problem" in Edie's case was not really a problem but more of a corrupt regime that can happen in any government, she was more angry about them taking power from her father, her father wanted to centralize all the power into himself & disregard the nobility who helped establish & govern the empire, that is why the insurrection of the 7 happened, due to the greedy emperor's actions & his aspiration to become a supreme ruler. I can't blame the 7 houses for reacting that way tbh at least in this instance, the experiments by TWSitD is a different issue ofc. But yeah the story in CF specially made no sense whatsoever, except at a very surface level, u need to disregard your brain & just blaze through it.

Everyone sides against Edelgard: " -Azula- Edelgard is crazy and needs to go down." (self-fulfilling prophecy, and makes the war longer and worse) Everyone sides with Edelgard: "She actually raised a *lot* of really valid reforms, held back the bad people since we helped her instead, listened to reason, stepped down once she'd installed a meritocracy, and was a good person when you get to know her. Sucks that Dimitri and Rhea had to die, but they basically became murder obsessed rage beasts, so it was kind of unavoidable." Felix: "My life sucks either way." Claude and Seteth: "I strongly disapprove of your methods. But if we had reasons to trust each other back at the Academy, we could've come to an agreement. Such a cruel world we live in. Good luck. I'm going home." Catherine and the Knights: Set fire to a city, can still be avoided in direct combat.
@bob1986
@bob1986 3 жыл бұрын
But that's the tragedy isn't it. Yes Edelgard actually does alot of good if you help her and had valid reasons for her actions, but it requires an insane amount of good faith in her to join up in the first place since she is, as far as one can tell actively working with the people that have been harassing Byleth and the monstary all game, almost killed Flayn and Manuela, actually DID kill Jeralt nearly got Byleth lost in another dimension forever and Sothis needed to (as far as Byleth could tell at the time anyway) sacrifice herself to save them and so on. And Edelgard never explains or tries to justify herself until after you join up with her, and as an enemy NEVER does. And in comparison the only counter viewpoints is that Jeralt was kind of suspicious of Rhea something that he even admits he might have been wrong about shortly before he dies. As a result, while Byleth joining Edelgard might make things turn out ok on that end it's just as logical from their point of view to believe Edelgard is just this crazy dangerous person that needs to be put down and there's no reason to ever believe a word she says.

@@bob1986 how incredible and fake her plan sounds at first glance and the fact it requires good will to be explained is literally why she doesn't explain it tho. Like ofc she only explains it to those that are with her how would she be supposed to explain it to ppl actively trying to kill her who aren't even poised to trust and believe her. There's a reason she explains only after you go to her coronation, it shows you are willing to listen. Most others don't do that Also you do have counter view points. The church doing a sectarian war with you as a puppet, rheas plans for you, the church killing ppll etc. You are supposed to wonder hey maybe the ppl I'm with who carry executions of captives they don't like with no trials aren't the good guys here?

@Erowax
@Erowax 4 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly how I would justify the reason why most of our students would join the Revolution. Sure, some of them have their own reasons, but wouldn’t accept violence as a mean to bring down the crest system, especially Lysithea, who directly witnessed the Archbishop going mad and talking about experiments (which would probably be the last straw for her). As for Ingrid (whom I didn’t recruit), one of her supports (with Felix more specifically) is about choosing either blind loyalty and fighting for their beliefs (hence their dialogue in chapter 16). She can’t just return to the Kingdom army which is still loyal to the Church when she witnessed the events of the Holy Church. That reality check takes priority over her affiliation with the Kingdom, which takes priority over her personal/familial crest issues (considering that she was this devoted to her homeland).

Bessie Burnet I’ll need a full list, because there are 16 recruitable characters in Crimson Flower. The 6 Blue Lions, the 6 Golden Deer, Alois, Shamir, and the professors. Here’s my picks for definite Empire suppporters: Lysithea - Her friendship with Edelgard is too good to pass up. Felix - “I’m not coming back! I won’t serve the boar!” Sylvain - He hates what the crest system did to his brother. Ingrid - I can see her being disgusted by Dimitri’s misguided revenge quest. Ashe & Lorenz - They flat out abandon their houses for the empire in the pro-church routes. Raphael - “I may have lived on Alliance land, but that doesn’t mean I served their lords.” Mercedes - I cant pass up her reuniting with and fighting alongside Jeritza. Also, she said she wants to help people, even without the church. Marianne - She looks up to Edelgard for her Radiant Strength, willing to make an Enemy of half the continent to realize her ideals. Alois & Leonie - Their loyalty is to Jeralt, and he told Byleth not to let his guard down against Rhea. Shamir - She sympathizes with Byleth, as she’s a mercenary who was brought into the knights, but she never really felt like she belonged there. Hanneman; (Edit: I saw his support conversations with Edelgard) He despises the crest-centric nobility, and is taking the Syndrome approach. (Everyone can have crests, so they won't be special anymore.) Manuela; After hearing that Rhea ordered Byleth to murder his own student, she’ll be quick to ditch Rhea. Ignatz & Annette - They don’t really have much reason to join the empire, and their deaths can be entirely avoided, so I say, don’t bother recruiting them, just make sure not to kill them.

Most of the students don't fit here at all. Mercedes especially has absolutely no reason to think that the Goddess would be against the church as it is. Honestly Crimson Flower would make more sense if certain students refused to follow you, staying behind like Flayn. The game giving you a free pass for supporting a fascistic imperial regime launching a unilateral war of aggression is... interesting. This is before you remember that Flayn's kidnapping was absolutely done on Edelgard's orders (those were Flame Emperor soldiers) - Edelgard is absolutely responsible for most of the bad stuff that happens during part 1, and her having a super secret (and convoluted) plan for defeating TWSITD doesn't cut it. Her plan to beat them involves giving them absolutely everything they want, which is a bad start. Yeah so Remire, Flayn's near death, Manuela's near death, Jeralt's death (committed by a murderous spy that Edelgard and Hubert protected from detection) - all on Edelgard. So guess who shouldn't be here? Most of the cast. Leonie, Mercedes, Lysithea, Ingrid... you get the idea. Oh and the game avoids having to confront this by removing Sothis just before all this plays out. She isn't allowed to voice her opinion. She's removed from the narrative, so you get to go on your genocidal spree against the Nabateans without having her inside your head pricking your conscience. But Edelgard is a cute GF or whatever, so great XD
@demijaymes
@demijaymes 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on a lot of points but there are reasons Mercedes would join. Remember that Byleth literally fused with the Goddess. Therefore, Mercie's logic is that Byleth- an extension of the Goddess- is trying to fight corruption in the church to restore it. She also pretty much knows at this point that her brother is Jeritza/The Death Knight and knows by joining Edelgard (his superior), she's guaranteed to reunite with him. And if you read their supports, she makes it very clear that she would allow him to kill her as the DK because she feels immense guilt over abandoning him and blames herself for his other personality. She would literally do anything to see her brother again. Leonie makes sense here for the same reasons as Alois. She promised Jeralt (her hero) that she would look after Byleth if anything ever happened to him. So if Byleth had already recruited her, she stays with them to honor that promise. She also comes to respect Byleth as much as she respects Jeralt. And unlike Alois, she knew Jeralt didn't trust Rhea. Lysithea despises the crest system and has been through the same thing as Edelgard. Because of how manipulative and persuasive Edel is, she convinces Lysithea the only way to destroy the system is her way. So I'd say on this route, the only characters who have good reasons to join are Mercedes, Leonie, Alois, Shamir, Ashe, Marianne, Lysithea, Lorenz, Manuela, Hanneman, the Ashen Wolves (except maybe Balthus), and MAYBE Sylvain. I do agree that Mercedes and Leonie do have as many reasons to oppose as join though. Lysithea will surrender and ask to join after being defeated as an enemy, partially out of self-preservation and partially because she wants the crest system and nobility abolished. Edit: This coming from a very anti-Edelgard person who disagrees with her ideals and actions. CF is also my least favorite route.

Leonie: how could side with empire knowing they were connected to jeralt's death..... answer me. Answer me you traitor...... You understand that as far as leonie is concerned empire is responsible... she wouldn't be wrong either it's literally edelgard's fault that kronya got to move around like she did in the monastery

@@worthywill9294 and then kronya, and eventually the rest of those who slither in the dark, get killed by Edelgard in CF. Although mostly offscreen, they do pay for their crimes
