I tell people that A Court of Silver Flames is overall a healing journey for Nesta instead of primarily focusing on intimate scenes. I hope you’ll end up enjoying it! My tbr for this month is finishing The Weaver and The Witch Queen and finally getting to Divine Rivals!

ACOSF was honestly potentially my favorite book far. I always liked Nesta I found her to a really interesting Character and I loved that she was unlikeable. I found her journey of healing to not only be authentic but captivating as well! I recently had surgery so my January TBR is also quite ambitious, and also includes once upon a broken heart!

YES THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE THE TIME WAR!!!!!! Hands down one of my absolute fav books. Also quite literally the perfect enemies to lovers story. After you finish it, you need to look up TIHYLTTW and Bigolas Dickolas, because it’s such a wonderful and weird internet story

I have to say A Court of Silver Flames was one of my most disliked books I read in 2023. The first books of the series were good, decent enough, but I couldn’t wait to get through this one and never pick it back up again! 1.5 ⭐️ for me! I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts!

Riyria Revelations has been on my shelf for literal YEARS! I finally picked it up in 2023, blew through all three (I adore Royce and Hadrian)... and then I read all four Riyria Chronicles and I'm entering 2024 two books into Legends of the First Empire. It was a Michael J. Sullivan year, for sure.

I loved 'This is how you loose the time war' ❤ It's a beautiful forbidden love story, and letters felt very poetic. And it was very fun to get crumbs of information in each letter and building the big picture little by little. Sometimes, one of them would write something and I'd be like "Wait, what? This is a thing in this universe??" I never read anything like this, just like when I read Vita Nostra ❤

Same exact boat on the SJM universe. I'm ready for CC#3, but have been putting off Court of Silver Flames. And we have the same views on CC#2. I feel like January is always the month I feel the most motivated to read a tone of books ! I just finished Blood Song 1 and absolutely loved it, so I might pick up book 2 this month too. I also plan on reading Valour, Silver Under Nightfall and maybe Nettle and Bone but I only read one T. Kingfisher book and gave it 3 🌟 (it was A House With Good Bones) so I don’t know… This will be my very first year making actual TBRs. I usually just pick up a book according to my mood but I sometimes am stuck not knowing what I wanna read and spend daaaays not reading anything. I hope it’ll help me with that issue. I also really hope to get to Legends of the First Empire this year 🤗

I wish you the best of luck with A Court of Silver Flames. Like you, I have not had the best of experiences with her recent works (really loved House of Earth and Blood out of her recent works) I detested A Court of Silver Flames and House of Sky and Breath and, like you, I am reading Crecent City 3 to see if I like it. Don't have the highest of hopes. I am also one of those people that didn't really like ACOTAR as a whole and I feel it's one of her weakest series.

I DNF’d silver flames at the 80% mark ): I just couldn’t do it anymore and that’s coming from someone who actually really likes Nesta’s character. I personally did not like the way that story was told and I just didn’t care about the romance whatsoever. But I hope you enjoy it! I might have liked acosf more if I hadn’t gone on an SJM bender in the months leading up to reading it! I think I just got sick of her writing style and I found it formulaic, but again, that might be because I didn’t space her books out 😅

The only reason to read other Cosmere series before Stormlight is to notice some fun Easter eggs. None of them are essential to the plot and you’ll be able to follow the story just fine if you haven’t read anything else!

Love 'resentful reading experience' because it's how I feel. I'm reading CC3 because I like ACOTAR and want to know what happens with those characters, but I could not care less what happens in CC. I doubt I'd even continue with CC if it wasn't for the connection. I really hate that twist and direct connection. I very much prefer all the series being easter eggs to each other. I like SJM's stories, but I don't think she's actually a very good writer overall, and I don't think she's a strong enough writer to carry so many threads and characters. She's tried that in CC and they're they're way too bloated and messy.

@@christy2935 omg yeeeeeeeesssssssss. I think of her as the gateway author. Everyone dives into her worlds, gets obsessed, and often finds (after reading many more books, fantasy or not) that they've outgrown her books. At least that's where I am.
