Clean up the shillings using Hot water from a kettle and some baking soda as it only removes all the dirt and gunk

@@BitsAndBobsCoins I don't mind cleaning mine up as that method is practically harmless and is the only safe one, but I do clean my cupro nickle coins in vinegar

Baking soda is extremely abrasive and really damaging to coins, if you must clean use only non abrasive product.@@HelluvaHazbinfan33

I'm assuming you checked all those silver shillings against those already in your date run to make certain you kept the best quality examples before putting the lesser quality coins into your silver trough?

I've seen people use acetone to remove dirt like the green stuff on the 2, shilling coins

Some people do that I personally don't clean my coins at all

Do you intend to sell the silver coins on the trough for their weight in silver rather than selling them on as collector's coins? Surely it would be better to keep them circulating between collectors?

I stack for weight but it may be better to sell as a collectors coin I will sell in over 30 years so it all depends on the silver price
