This season I decided to work with my fairy tale type decks. Winter is often thought of as a time to hunker down and be indoors and tell stories. So I thought it would be a good time to work with the few fairy tale decks that I have. I'm probably also going to work some with the Tarot of Bones by Lupa. I also decided that I'm creating a new Winter Solstice tradition for myself. My family would often have a Grinch party, where we'd wear our pajamas, eat snacks, and watch the Grinch movie. I decided I'm going to do that as my celebration on the Winter Solstice. 😊🎄❄☃️ A fun and quirky way to celebrate that night.

The Hierophant is Sinterklaas (Sint Nicolaas) in The Netherlands. We celebrate a day with presents on December 5th, similar to your Santa Claus with Xmas. I guess they're the same person in history.

Wow Lisa .. your self control is remarkable. You sat on a deck for a year without touching it? If I was that excited about a deck .. I won’t be holding my hands off it .. I also think of Christmas as a Dec/Jan Season. We keep the decorations and tree for the full of Jan. I just started this tradition in my house a few years ago and we love it. It’s still winter after all and much slower in this time of the year so it’s perfect for it .. I hope you have an enjoyable Yule season 😁.

To me, it's the Baby New year on the Sun card. I suppose it's the Sun's rebirth as a Baby on the Winter Solstice. Or maybe another celebrated Baby Sun.

I don’t feel the confusion of the different Hemispheres quite as much as at Yule! In Australia we are moving into Litha - Summer Solstice 🌞 and it’s so far from snow and winter warming. I wish Llewellyn would do the Almanac for both hemi’s!!

I have the Santa's Helpers deck too - the previous one didn't grab me either, but this one is so cute! I also have the Merry Christmas Lenormand on pre-order - just hoping it will ship in time! The 12 days of Yuletide book looks really good too. My seasonal fiction reading (which I don't read every year, so that I don't get bored with it) is "The Dark is Rising" by Susan Cooper - it's middle-grade fiction that I remember fondly from my childhood, steeped in British folklore and set in the wintery landscape of the English countryside. It has a very pagan feel, since starts with the young hero's birthday on Yule Eve and follows his quest to collect a set of sun symbols (quartered circles).

Not seasonal, but just ordered the Sacred Forest Oracle that I've had my eye on for ages (it was in the sale) :) Then for reading, it's a revisit to The Bear and the Nightingale (sort of seasonal) and treated myself to The Diary of a Christmas Elf (a children's book, but I've read the author's other works and they are just a delight. The Night I Met Father Christmas was beautiful).

Am planning on using the Green Witch Tarot and The Celtic Dragon Tarot for The month of December, Oracle Deck, I haven't decided yet.... Am tabling the Christmas Lenormand Deck for purchasing maybe next summer, August, so I can play and look at the cards before doing any readings for it in Nov/Dec for 2022. Am rearranging a couple of rooms, got two done and one 85% done, recording a month challenge a day and a VR, plus shopping, getting the tree up and some crafts done for gifts.

I am supposed to be asleep but a Lisa video? I can take my mobile to bed and just enjoy it :) .. I am waiting for your anti-haul video and I wonder if you’ll do a 2021 deck additions/changes .. an overlook on what happened this year? A “Deck Reflection” video? I honestly do that myself at home because I want to see how it went .. what decks surprised me .. what I need to work on more .. etc

I would love to do something like this. I have been keeping track of the decks in, so I might share some sort of somethingggg like that. I'll have to think about how I might want to put it together (and then see about securing the time lol)

I need to choose my decks for the Yule season! You definitely sold me on the Sabbat book…what a wonderful idea to color in it! As for a seasonal fiction book, I am rereading The Metcalfe Family Album which is a fabulous fictional book shaped like a generational Christmas album written in by each generations bride in a family. It has documents to read, letters, tickets, and diary entries. It’s just stunning!

The Yuletide self care book looks amazing! Have the Seasons of the Witch deck and have also been waiting to use it. The Winter Waite is adorable, you always pick up such great symbolism and meaning from the cards. I saw it online and thought, "cute but..., Why get another clone?" Totally came alive through your walkthrough and excitement.. I've got the Happy tarot and it always reminds me of elves and candy land, so I'll probably use that, but right now I'm seriously into my Mystical Manga tarot (I trimmed it and the artwork shows so much better) and my Wheel of the Year tarot.

Hellooo Lisa!!!! I think I need the Yuletide book. December is my birthday month - it's magic month for me!! My birthday is on December 1., then I'm celebrating December 5.night St. Nicholas day (Czech Republic), December 13. is my name day Lucie (Czech Republic) - St. Lucia day and then we have Christmas Eve (Czech Republic)/Christmas Day (Canada). I spent my childhood in Czech and later moved to Canada thats why I keep celebrating all those different days. I was growing up with overload of fairy tales books/movies and my favourite is a movie Three wishes for Cinderella (1973) Tri risky pro Popelku omg I can watch this everyday, anytime. I have even ringtone on my phone all year around (its a very popular Christmas song from this movie). It's a Czech movie with German co-production, set in winter time with spirited heroine and three magic hazel nuts. Its nothing like the other versions of Cinderella. The way its made, it's a simple story and so beautiful. Sorry for the long ramble, I'm little bit a nut about this and December as a whole.
