A former member of XOMG POP!, a girl group put together by JoJo Siwa on a TV reality show called Siwas Dance Pop Revolution has called out JoJo in a Rolling Stone article for allegedly putting her through gruelling work schedules, even when she'd just been through surgery.

As someone with inside info on that show, they are all fine for the most part and from what I know most of them weren’t traumatized from what happened during filming (for most people it was more traumatizing after filming when the episode was released) It wasn’t on the same extreme as xomgpop because most of them had 1 episode deals that were shot in a week and then it was over unless they asked you to come back for another episode in the future

Like Leigha/Anjie said in the comments, the "everything's great" statement was just from the moms of the three original members who are still in the group. The first former member to be let go from the group, Kiya, can't say much because of the NDA, but did say in Insta stories that she "was glad to leave when she did and never looked back," is happy that Leigha got to tell her own story, and wants to be an entertainment lawyer to "protect other kids from being taken advantage of." And then Kinley (who left the group on her own) also can't say much directly, but her new single Heart Beats is almost certainly a response to her experience with the Siwas: how she was talked down to and forced to play a character in the group, and now she's able to be herself again.

It is amazing how well Kinley's new song fits that. The song write has said that they wrote it years ago and it has been sitting in a draw waiting for the right person. Agree, Anjie has said that she now regrets what she said about Charity (Kiya's mum) when Kiya left the group. They have both left for pretty much the same reasons. I find it scary that Leigha missed enough school that she is going to repeat sophomore year. The others are younger but soon it will catch up with them if they are missing out on the foundations. I can't help wondering if JoJo just doesn't think that they need that much time seeing as she finished her schooling at 15 (she was home-schooled her whole life because the testing that was done on the first day of school she tested at the 3rd grade level) so she probably didn't need much time/help to get her required schooling done.

It's a reality TV show, most reality shows have horrible conditions which make the participants more likely to cry or yell from frustration, emotional torment, and hunger. It's horrible, especially to do something like that to children, but it's also nothing new. There should be laws in place to make doing this illegal!

Problem is that half the behaviour that was mentioned was after they were already in the group. They would get a present if they were the person with the most social media posts/likes for the week. Things like that. On going issues with needing to practice/perform while sick or injured - yes the show must go on but did they need to film a music video so soon after Leigha's surgery or could it have waited. It seems like they might have learned from that one as the music video that they did straight after Penelope had her appendix out they ended up not having dancing in it (even then she seemed to be doing things really quickly afterwards again).

The REALLY wild thing to me isn’t how JoJo and her mother treated the kids (that was expected to be honest, given her close, continued friendship with Abbey Miller) but the grown adults FROTHING AT THE BIT over these little girls! I had never heard of this girl group until the drama started so I had a quick search here on YT and the comments on videos of these girls are FULL of adults saying how they love watching this girl or that girl and can’t wait to watch them grow and become world sensations and just so much more (some commenting on bodies and costumes) it was just crazy! And when I called them out for the creepiness I got the typical “you’re just jealous your kid will probably never be famous) Sir/Ma’am I just read you talking about a CHILDS body and how they are “gonna fill out nicely when they hit puberty” IM GLAD IF MY DAUGHTER IS NEVER FAMOUS

Just playing devil's advocate here but the whole "make the kids cry" thing is on the producers and how reality tv works. The way the girls were treated on dance moms is not a secret anymore so to me it is on the moms who put their kids in that situation despite moms from DM talking about how it worked for the kids... and you know that every mom on that show had seen dance moms. Kids just shouldnt be on reality tv. As for the group itself, I don't know much about the inner workings so I am not going to comment on that but I think there should be room for child entertainers to cater to a child audience because it can be problematic for kids to only have adults to look up to. It was a great idea to make a group of kids to take over as JoJo became an adult.

I mean an exploited entertainment child deciding to exploit children for more fame is certainly a different direction.... Unless you look at the evolution of the artistic athlete (gymnastics, ballet, figure skating,...) from certain country regimes (cough USSR cough cough) going from that training program as athletes and then becoming a coach and training children in ways similar to what they went through as children.

I understand a bit. If you're going to be in that kind of group you have to be healthy. It's harsh but reality. But if there were 7 and then only 3, It can't be the parents/kids fault every time. That being said, I hope they're able to make a comeback and the girls who left find the best new opportunities. They are very talented with a lot of potential so it would be a shame for it to go to waste.

They are little girls pushed into it by their PARENTS. Their parents really have full control as they are minors. They used their children for money and none of the girls deserve that. They will grow up with a lot if problems.
