We skipped the prior version of this game because if I'm going to put time (and money) into a game I'd rather it be this one. ---- Thumbnail art by MadameBerry / madameberry bsky.app/profi... / nakate

If memory serves, pressing online does not actually put you online, but rather downloads other people's Kirbys but are still played as AI.

You say, "controversial" I say, "paying the cost of a game, to make a free to play game, into a real game".
@VallaPhantasm7 күн бұрын
It's less that Beam Mage "slows" the boss down (Colossal Waddle Dee just kinda moves slow already), it's that using the charge attack fills a kind of "time gauge" that you see on them, when it fills up it freezes the boss in place and ALSO stops the timer for a few seconds. You can time stop a boss multiple times but it gets harder to do the more times it triggers, but it can absolutely save fights that are running too long (or help get that Speed Clear bonus and such)

Yep, played this... took forever to do anything free-to-play though, but you could eventually do everything free-to-play. Got pretty deep into the bosses by myself. Mostly skipped a few weapon levels, rarely bought armor, bought only necessary stuff with enough slowly scrounged up gem apples or what was needed to acquire more apples through challenges. Taught me the importance of patience and picking and choosing what was necessary, budgeting when you don't have much of a budget basically, it was a once a day kind of game for thirty minutes. Sword was easy mode, hammer was the highest damage output and required active dodging, healer could self heal and do some damage as a range attacker and mage was better ranged damage dealer. Never bought gem apples, saw and beat the final boss eventually though. Took a long time doing it for free like Pokémon Picross, which I also finished for free... then found out it had a hard mode and stopped playing it.

Super Kirby Clash is actually officially called "free-to-start" as opposed to "free-to-play", since there's no way one is beating it without Microtransagolor lmao
@SomeGuy712x7 күн бұрын
Actually, you can beat this game just fine without spending a penny. It may take a while, having to wait for tree/bell harvests for some Gem Apples and materials, but I've done it.

I've beaten it without paying. This one's way more generous with its gem apple rewards than the 3Ds game

Ah, so now we're on Super Kirby Clash. I've played enough of this to beat the regular final boss and see the ending. I haven't really played it since... aside from opening the game nearly every day to collect 16-19 Gem Apples daily. I'm currently sitting at 29070 Gem Apples, without having spent even a penny on this game. Also, I'm at experience level 40. Perhaps at some point, I'll start playing it again for realsies and complete more of the game. Also, I'll have to go back and tally the stats for your Kirby Star Allies playthrough later when I get the chance, and then edit my comments here with updated values like usual. Death count: 0 [367+X] (0 today) Deathless episodes: 1 [190+X] (1 today) (X represents the Kirby Star Allies stats, of course.) (1:32) Yep, gotta tally all of the eldritch beings destroyed. :P (4:35) Yeah, you can jump and even fly temporarily in the town area. You can also spit out air puffs, but otherwise can't use any attacking moves here. (Not that there would be stuff to attack here anyway.) (7:37) RIP Hornhead. (8:13) Actually, your maximum level will increase at certain points. I'm at level 40 right now, and one of my Switch friends is at level 57. (8:25) That is false. Your level applies to all classes at once. (9:46) After 12 hours pass, you can harvest more Gem Apples. I usually just harvest them once per day, without trying to do so exactly every 12 hours. (10:19) Hey there, Magolor. How's it going? Nice that he's doing honest work here. (11:35) I made sure to get my Codexes maxed out. They're totally worth it. (11:46) I don't think I ever bothered with the Stickers. (11:58) Every few days (I'm not sure on how the timing of this works), I'll see a present icon above the Gem Apples selection here, and by going into the Gem Apple shop and clicking on that present icon, I get 3 Gem Apples for free. Still don't have to spend a penny for this little extra benefit to occasionally appear. (14:51) This is a good Codex to max out early. With it maxed out, you get 50 of each normal material and 6 Gem Apples each time you ring the Adventurer Bell. Note that after ringing the bell, you have to wait 23 hours before you can ring it again for free, or you can spend 10 Gem Apples to ring it again early. (Yes, it's 23 hours, not 24 hours. I'm actually glad for this, so that I can ring it daily at roughly the same time each day with an hour's worth of wiggle room.) (16:55) Yeah, the further you progress in the game, the more weapons and armor get added to the shop. (19:06) I've never done anything with amiibos myself. I don't even own any at all. (20:22) I have entered a few passwords to get rewards in the past. Doing a quick check right now, most passwords have expired, but there are a few that have no set expiration date, and thus should still work right now. (21:06) Nice. I'm glad you're making use of the passwords. (21:53) Yeah, those are good amounts of materials to start off the game with. (24:12) Don't forget about the Adventurer Bell. (25:25) Let's hope you spend the money wisely. If you buy all seven One-Time Bargain Packs, it'll be a little over 10% cheaper than if you buy the 5000 pack at the very bottom. (26:45) Since I've never spent a penny on this game, my tree is still at just level 2 and yields only 10 gem apples at a time. But, when I harvest daily over the course of several years, they do add up! (27:35) Oh, no... Please don't spend $39.99 when you could spend just $35.73 instead for all of the One-Time Bargains above to total the same 5000... (28:15) Welp, purchase made. You spent $4.26 more than you really needed to, but I guess you won't be sweating over that small amount. (28:29) Wow, that is one impressive-looking tree now. And, the music is more upbeat. (29:47) Next, you'll max out the Codexes, right? (29:54) Wait, what... Magolor is still up to something sinister? (30:26) Sudden jump cut to you maxing out the last Codex. (31:17) That means when you hold down the attack button for your charge attack, it'll charge a bit faster. (32:32) Pretty much, yeah. (33:47) You should be fine to just equip the best stuff for each class. (34:04) That can be solved by ringing the bell, which will give you 50 of each normal material and 6 Gem Apples now that the Codex for it is maxed out. And, you do NOT have to be online to use the bell. If you do go online with it, the game will find six other players of comparable level to yours to become CPU allies in a few future fights (along with maybe one of your Switch friends who's also played this game, regardless of their level). But, if you don't go online, the game still gives you six default CPU allies of similar level to you, and you get the same exact rewards. (34:51) I always like to click Online for the bell, unless my Internet is down or I'm not at home (or I misclick, which happens sometimes too), but choosing Offline is fine. (35:31) Once every 23 hours for free. (Again, I'm glad it's 23 and not 24, which lets me ring it at around the same time daily with an hour's worth of leeway.) (36:27) I seriously doubt I'll ever 100% this game myself, but who knows what I'll decide to do in the future? (37:32) Yep, all of your roles share the same level. (41:48) Note that the vigor timer starts up the instant you spend some vigor to play a mission, so you'll have recovered some vigor by the time you're done with that fight, which means you may be able to play more rounds in succession than you may have initially thought, based on the numbers. (42:46) RIP Colossal Spear Waddle Dee.

Man it's been a long time since I've played this game. I remember 100% the heck out of it. And yeah I did get the most OP armor and weapons till I was done. Good times.

My only annoyance with this game is how they want you to pay money to lvl up the tree instead of it naturally growing more and more based on your progression. This wouldnt be an issue if say the player got access to 50 gem apples thanks to the tree by beating the main story solo.

I 100%'d this game after playing on and off for a few years and buying all the sale apples to max the tree. Pyribbit EX can eat my entire ass. ah damn you could've saved a few bucks by maxing the tree with the sales i'm looking forward to you progressing and seeing how far the game goes, because hoo boy

no added plot for star allies? didn't that drop the biggest lore bomb of the series in boss text? (disagree with it all you want. any rumor put to text within a game is 99% of the time true). that void created most of the eldrich beings from the series from encountering bad emotions, and kirby is what resulted from void encountering good ones
@idunno_7 күн бұрын
That stuff is mostly fan theory. Officially, Void isn't really connected to anything. The dark matter stuff came from Hyness, who wanted it to be reborn as a destroyer of worlds, while the Kirby face only appears after its core gets exposed. Since Star Allies left out a lot of stuff in the English version, it also left out that Void gets influenced by the first thing it sees. It just copies Kirby cause of his positive influence
