Who here likes to parler franglais? Not anglais. Not français. But franglais. Swear it's the best language - and it's perfect for those occasions where you're trying to show off in French, but then immediately want to revert back to comfort when you start struggling.

Fr why would you go there and pay that much for regular orange juice that you can buy at the supermarket, the whole point is no one really knows the exact formula of what's inside, and it is real oranges, but it's a mixture

His history was completely wrong though, the French did not slaughter the natives. We did make allies with some of them and help them war against their enemies, but that's it when it comes to slaughter. We only traded with them and tried to convert them, that's it. Most of the disgusting things actually happened (and continue to happen) under british rule.

when someone asks “what did Damon just say?” and you legit can’t remember if it was in French or English and that was only two seconds ago THAT’S BILINGUAL CULTURE and that makes me want to move to Montreal so bad. that being said my French friends and I living in London speak in franglais more and more often and we’ve stopped apologizing about it. Montreal is known for food, where was the food?! Schwartz!? Also for cheap fun try Boneventure's indoor skating rink, comedy nest, fireworks at LaRonde, zip-lining at the Vieux Port (this is pricey though), roof-top clubs, free art galleries, museums, street music, laser-tag, indoor mini-putt, videogame themed bars where you can play Nintendo, cat cafe, bull-riding, Mont-Royal views of the city, arcades, casinos, you name it. Don't blow money at tourist attractions like the Julep lol

The Orange Julep is quite iconic in Montreal. I have always loved going to the Orange Julep, but I will never forget the time my Aunt and Uncle brought me and my Sister there at Midnight. I was quite young, we were in our pajamas, and it was an exciting, unexpected adventure. The most iconic part of “The Big Orange” (apart from their building), is their drink, the “Gibeau Orange Julep”. It is delicious and while the exact recipe is unknown, I have made this version several times and it is close enough for me. It is so good, that MTL Blog featured it as the closest recipe they have tried! Ingredients 1 6 oz. can orange juice 1 cup milk 1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 12 Ice Cubes *Optional egg whites/egg substitute may be added for the frothy texture. About 3 Tbsp, but it is not mandatory.* Instructions Put everything in the blender except for the ice. Blend for 10-15 seconds until frothy. Add the ice and blend for another 20 seconds until thoroughly crushed. Have a taste test. If it isn’t as sweet as you would like, add a tiny bit more Vanilla extract. Just be careful- sometimes people put too much vanilla in it and it ends up tasting way too sweet. Simple, isn’t it?

I lived in montreal for 8 months because Im studying engineering at mcgill. It's so cool to see you visit so many places that ive explored as an outsider and a lover of quebecois culture, like Jean mance parc and the underground tunnels. The switching to english thing is so relatable!!! It's like walking on a thin rope, if you trip a little bit your french conversation is over. This video is the coolest thing ever and I hope that the next time you're in montreal i'll happen to be there as well!

It's a little unfortunate you didn't have a Montreal buff with you guys to explain the context of some situations and sites you visited...Julep being the last remaining old drive throughs other than that being a common fast food joint. The orange Julep juice is basically the same as Orange Julius. MTL Crew Cafe is situated in the first headquarters of the RBC Bank, and until 3years ago before the cafe opened, you could see the remains of the old bank cashier counters and piled up library lamps. There's also a NightClub in the old vault . The underground is just a major shopping mall crossing metro stations and takes you to the train station as well. If you understand the different passages you will find that it's almost true, you can do a lot without stepping out during winter. It's also going through a major transformation at the moment ! There's so much to say!

Although I very much appreciate living in Europe, Montreal's probably still one of my favorite cities, since it's a nice blend of Europe and North America. Plus Québécois is DA BOMB.

the outside stairs were started after a ruling of the city when they obliged every new duplex( appartements) to have at least a certain percentage of the front porch be greenery (so grass usually) because the city was starting to feel very crowded (like paris where all the buildings start at the street) so all buildings constructed kinda lose a part of their land and had to be kinda smaller un less you bought more land, so they started using that space for stairs so they werent wasting that space inside the appartement and they didnt have to heat in the winter so it's cheaper for electricity.

She probably spoke to you in English cause of your accent in French. She could tell your mother tongue is English especially that you said “ avocado toast” instead of “ pain à l’avocat”

Cathy Bugdale in Montreal “ roti “ is rarely used. Usually reserved for Jamaican food.

@@Stephanie-ki5oz Heu, non?? On dit "roti" pour le pain grillé au déjeuner tout le temps. Cathy is right and we say roti a lot, it's even written in a lot of breakfast place's menus. We sometimes franglais it and say "2 toasts à l'avocat, svp" or "2 rotis avec des avocats, svp".

@@douaadaif1468 I'm not that old and always heard rôti in French. Et pas juste à Montréal. C'est pas une question d'âge. J'imagine que ça dépend si tu vis plus dans un quartier anglo que franco.
