My guess is this shit blew up, I've boosted NA subaru motors the same way over 15 times and literally blew the heads off my block with ARP head studs, cracked cylinder walls, detonated pistons, threw rods, shoved a valve through the valve covers and that was all on 8 psi Fast as fuck, but itll also blow up fast as fuck. Not worth it, dont do it!
@hunterjames94283 жыл бұрын
Would it do the same on a built engine?
@brianaggson10743 жыл бұрын
@@hunterjames9428 depends on how you build it. If it's an NA block that's open deck itll have issues but if its semi closed deck and has decent internals it may be fine. NA blocks are weak, the cylinder walls are prone to flex because they're is nothing keeping them stable to the block. Just open coolant journals. Also youd have to probably port the heads a little bit to help with flow but that's neither here nor there. I've done this quite a few times with stock compression, stock block and it never lasts that long but it is a different kind of fast for a Subaru.

Wow! Seems pretty cool lol I bought a 2007 Impreza 2.5i that was a previous project from a friend of mine. It's currently running a EJ253 short block with Ej205 heads, EJ205 harness, EJ205 manifold and a EJ205 ECU. It has a TD04 turbo with a COBB downpipe and NUR SPEC R exhaust. The car runs perfectly fine at 7 PSI. However, when I try adjusting the boost I get explosions from my exhaust. I would assume its because of the high compression ratio that the short block has. I replaced the spark plugs with some NGK Iridium 6 and still have the same problem. But, whatever car is pretty fast. My old 2003 WRX was running about 18 psi and was fun until I wrecked it 3 months ago. Keep us updated with your project and tell us what problems you ran into. But I would assume that you must change the harness and ECU to a turbo ECU in order to have the best results otherwise I think the car will run like shit. But blessings man nice video!!!!

You HAVE TO get your cylinder head machined for higher compression ratio.

How reliable is it ؟
@zanechilson93065 жыл бұрын
Muhammad Qassoum Na 2.5 headgaskets are already the downfall of that engine, add boost and you're asking for trouble. If you swap in some STI headgaskets or thicker ones to lower your compression, some arp headstuds, put some fuel to it and keep your boost SUPER LOW you'll be okay for a while. Build one of these Subaru eBay specials and you'll have a grenade under the hood. Save your money and get a wrx or do a wrx/sti drivetrain swap if you want reliable. eBay may be cheap to get to your house but it won't be when your running 2.5i suddenly decides it doesn't want to run at 12:1 compression anymore.

I'm seeing 2 different sets of headers from "Jet.com" which is now owned by walmart: HDS-SWRX02-1P HDS-SWRX02-2P What is the difference? Been toying around with the idea of swapping the shortblock on my 2006 2.5i and running the SOHC heads with a turbo setup, so I'm watching a ton of videos.

i hope you know for a fact that non turbo 2.5 subaru engine are already fragile enough while N/A. if you try to boost it higher than 7-8 psi, this engine wont last for mor than 500 km, not even kidding.

Joe pap I have a 2008 Subaru Impreza hatchback not the WRX or sti even tho it looks like one with the hood scoop and rear wing but anyways it’s an automatic for one and I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to the stock engine or do I really need to do an engine swap?... like can I make the engine I have more stronger and powerful or is it to fragile cause I would love to make my engine bay look all pretty and have all kinds of power ( im looking for like 250HP to 300HP is my goal) but is that only possible with an engine swap?
@Snack5926 жыл бұрын
Mike Fawc sadly if you are looking for that much power, i would recommend to just sell Yours and buy a turbo one.. and then you can go and cranck up the boost with supporting mods . The stock 2.5 cant handle power unless you put tens of Thousands $ in it . Sadly
@mikefawc226 жыл бұрын
Joe pap so it is possible then? I’m not really understanding why it would cost tens of thousands of dollars? What exactly would it take? I do realize buying one with a turbo or even an engine swap would be easier however I’m not really looking for the easy way out.. I just really am interested in learning from this I want to try and do as much as I can my self so I can learn and even if I could get it up to the 250HP I would be more then happy I’m just looking for a little extra power to have fun with lol are there any performance upgrades I can do to the engine block it’s self to make it stronger?
