Only had the lower coolant hose on mine and it’s already a know issue Blew a shock but that’s more down to lowering springs, been spot on even after mapping 👌🏻

Exactly mate. I replaced mine when i was underneath it before it let go on me. I'll mention the lower hose clamp though in a video to come! Handy heads up, appreciate the comment dude 👊
@danwah4 жыл бұрын
Hey, would the lower coolant hose have anything to do with a very slow coolant leak by any chance? Mine had dropped down to below the minimum at one point, called out RAC, couldn't find any leak, topped it up and it's went down over the course of a year or so, very slowly to about the mid level. Had it booked in at Renault and they couldn't find any problems either. Remember seeing something on rs forum that had the same issue, only leaked under heavy load. That forum is now gone and this is the it thing I've found on the issue.
@VersionOneUK4 жыл бұрын
@@danwah hey mate, it potentially will be that, and the fact its doing it more under heavy loads would make sense. If you remove both undertrays on the front you' be able to see the hose and if its seeping, or been seeping. Super easy fix and a very common problem, i did mine before it let go. Clear up the area if thats the issue and a jubilee clip will do the job or if you want the official part renault do sell it as i got hold of one.

I think when it pulls you forward when you're at a standstill is called clutch drag. In normal and sport the clio has a little bit of drag but if you put it in race mode you'll notice it doesn't do it.
@VersionOneUK4 жыл бұрын
Mine doesn't do it at all mate. My mates mini does, i was talking about torque converters as opposed to dual clutch setups. The ol clio is solid 👌

Great video Ash, owning a Mk4 myself, I can agree with everything you’ve said, very reliable, almost flawlessly reliable, extremely capable and fun to drive, and I have to disagree with you on one thing, they sound amazing straightpiped! (With primary cat left in like mine!) As for value for money, I don’t think you can buy another modern hot hatch with an auto box and a turbo for this sort of money, unless you get an older Golf R32 or something in another category, so for £9000ish, this is a mega car, turns heads, sparks conversation and isn’t boring like a Fiesta ST or 208Gti which i class as a league below because of how capable this Clio is. I’m not a race driver, but I’ve had mine at it’s limit on country roads, absolutely left a 350bhp Golf Gti for dust whilst I was on the bumper of a supercharged 650bhp E92 M3! (Obviously not as quick round corners)
@VersionOneUK4 жыл бұрын
Yeah dude exactly. You can see how they are becoming more popular as they come down in price... As for the straight pipe thing, yours having a cat in means its not straight piped and the cat probably helps keep some harshness out of the tone. I'm talking STRAIGHT pipe dude, full decat, no silencers no backbox. Good community on these cars too 👊
@HoltBlackheathFPV4 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with Fiesta ST’s being boring, in fact they are widely known for being very fun cars. Defo not a class below a Clio RS either. I own a MK8 ST running around 250hp and I don’t know many FWD cars that could out-corner it, the LSD is witchcraft.
@VersionOneUK4 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure they mean the mk7 fiesta... I rate both the mk7 and mk8 just how common the 7 is makes them less desirable imo. I haven't had a go in a mk8 fiesta as of yet but i actually like them more than the 7. The sound way better too, which is weird being a 3 cylinder ha
@HoltBlackheathFPV4 жыл бұрын
VersionOne Yeah I agree with the MK7’s being common, I’m seeing more and more MK8’s around now too which is annoying for me haha. Also bang on it being a 3 pot, such a unique sound. Interested in reviewing it?

Just got one last week. its a 2015 Clio Rs with 49k in Yellow. Got it from Renault. From 60mph onwards steering vibrates a lot. also there is always a constant plasticky vibration coming from the dashboard ... I am a bit reluctant.. Don't know if I should keep the car or not.

Great video there buddy, got a question. We bought a 2014 clio RS, gonna pick it up saturday. It has been chipped to 213.5hp and 317.9nm torque. Is this within the safe zone of the car without damaging it or excessive overloading the standard parts?

Thanks mate! Appreciate it 👊 has the car got any other mods to support it? And they sound like very safe figures to me, i'm sure if you took it for an independent map you'd squeeze a bit more out of her!

I currently own a Megane RS250, but i am really interested in getting a clio trophy instead, since its more ”everyday use-friendly”, and cheaper to maintain. How would you compare the performance of them? I currently run approx 310 hp in the megane. Will the clio be about as fast as it is lighter? Thanks in advance.
@VersionOneUK4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I don't reckon it will be as quick as a 310bhp meg no, on a hybrid turbo, probably... You'll save time on the shifts but rolling i'd say a meg would pull away. Mines running 265ish and definitely gets on, just not on a megs level i'd say. Still great fun though with 260+ and an auto box you'll upset some people for sure
@adampettersson86554 жыл бұрын
VersionOne Yea I see, But the gearbox will probably make it feel faster haha. I actually drove a clio trophy a few years ago when they came out, and i was actually surprised by its performance (this was before i had the meg). So I can imagine with a tune and stuff it will be great fun. And it will be a much better day-to-day car than the meg for sure.
