I got a lot of crazy videos coming! This one I go over something that should help every producer when trying to figure out what to do with a sample. Here are all the options:
00:00 - Intro
00:42 - Lifting
01:55 - Stutters (+ Pharrell's Signature Four-Count Start)
03:37 - Playing the chops fast (Nujabes Technique)
04:56 - Reverse
06:15 - Rearranging (+ 9th Wonder Technique)
07:16 - Combining Samples
08:12 - Microchops + Bigger Loops
09:14 - Layering
11:23 - Drums
12:38 - Microchopping
15:38 - Outro (Patreon)

What's your favorite technique?? Which one do you use the most?? Also thanks for all the love as always. The video took a ton of work, and it is the culmination of a lot of my work in the past 18 months. So please share it to the wider producer community! @@Narokx Yea watched it. Its really good and useful info but IMO you can squeeze a lot more content out of the work you on it. For example take some of these patterns and break them down. You can make 10 more vids out of that.. I know that for me, break down percussion pattern vids are very useful and usually ill save them in a playlist and watch multiple times and even try finger drum alongside which will be also a lot of reviews. Just an idea :)

Very informative! My favorite technique is to chop based on the transients in ableton simpler. That way opens you up to so many possibilities that you'd never find if you just chop by the beat. I find that's also where I can chop the most unconventional jazzy grooves, Dilla style.

@@Narokx true indeed. Im curious however to who introduced the term microchopping. Cause I first heard it in reference to Exile. But one could say all beats were ‘microchopped’ when samplers only had a few seconds of sampling time in the early days. So its a bit of a confusing term to me.

@Narokx
@Narokx Жыл бұрын
I am tired of answering this, so I will update my "Kaytranada Technique" video with a quick KZbin Short explaining how to do it with midside EQ... But basically yeah, mid side EQ you can choose which side of the sample to filter, so if the elements you want removed from the sample are hard panned right, you can filter the right side with an EQ, but then you have to find a way to make your beat mono again because it will be 100 left side
