@hugorezende199Ай бұрын
Diferent music of course, but lets agree thats Aquiles has an insane precision and he is spot on every time. But yes, too much stuff. For us mortals, this 4 piece kit is more acessible and realistic.

I get that I’m in the minority here, but guys…seriously? His timekeeping is suspect (watch it again and take note of how he stops playing once his meter starts falling off), has little to no experience with tuning, doesn’t know the specifics of his shells, has zero chops (not that that’s all that important here), and offers practically no useful advice for players. He even admits many of his choices with gear came down to practical reasons, like how much space he had to transport them, or just taking whatever backline was provided to him. Some gear he picked because of how cool it looked over its functionality. Calling it ‘minimalist’ is a misnomer, as it’s less about intentionally subtracting so much as it’s his inability to use anything additional. Listen, I’m not saying everyone has to have crazy chops or a buttload of gear, but for a channel called ‘drum rundown’ I’d certainly expect the drummer to..I dunno give us useful information when running down his drums? Again, I understand looking at the comments that his band, approach, and (bafflingly) his gear appeal to some, but some of us come here to see how professionals do it. Hoping to see more of that content in the future.
@brettvandenbosch87722 жыл бұрын
Have you even heard of All Them Whitches? If you have, have you listened to them? You come off like you don’t know what your talking about.
@jarradjames19512 жыл бұрын
Hey Sekou, thanks for tuning in and watching. I was really excited to launch this episode, mostly because it was the first one we filmed, and it helped bring into focus what the ethos of a drum Rundown could be. I was even more excited after we launched our first episode with Matt of Animals As Leaders, when so many new fans started requesting a rundown with Robby, specifically. If you haven't checked out the first episode, it is an absolute master class in specificity of kit set up, wood construction, function and form, given by quite arguably the best technical drummer alive, so plenty of chops and absolutely perfect meter. And that is why I love this episode as a follow up: It sets the tone of the Rundown, and shows range while highlighting the dichotomy of approaches to drum set ups, recording methods, and the vast variety of types of drummers. Some are form, some are function, some kits are based on science, some are based on feel. Hopefully we can showcase the insane diversity of what professional drummers play at some of the biggest gigs in the world. I for one am glad that not every drummer plays some stock big name brand kit with some stock Bonham chops, I feel like this series would get very boring, very fast. Happy to have given ATW fans a look behind the kit, and answers to some burning questions they've had for some time. Hang with us, we are gonna get even weirder. Next up we have some absolute technicians, and some self taught cats, some picking kits solely based on stage look, and others with more gear and set ups on stage than most full bands have. If they have the gigs, we'll show the rigs. Robby has some of the coolest of both. Thanks again for watchin', and we'll see ya on the next one...

@@brettvandenbosch8772 Yeah, I listened. But as you've addressed literally none of the valid, easily proven criticisms I brought up regarding the above video, I'm guessing you're more of a fan than you are a critical thinker.
@FortyDeuce2 жыл бұрын
@@jarradjames1951 Well said, my man. As I'd said in my original comment, I'm in no way implying the only drummers worth covering are incendiary technicians with crazy gear. I'm a fan of minimalist playing from musical drummers, as much as I am of the other kind. Robbie's playing, vague knowledge and description of his gear didn't strike me as all that professional, but I'll concede that at the end of the day that's just my opinion. Not a matter of right vs wrong. You're a great interviewer and looking forward to more from this channel.
