If I am not mistaken, the 585 integrated losses the preamp not the dac from the 585.5. Both are beautiful and great sounding pieces that make one rethink having to go to separates. I love your enthusiasm!

What Pre-Amp / Powered-Amp combo would be ideal to drive two Salon2's? Would the integrated Amp be enough to do the Salon2's justice?

Hi Tigger. We would strongly recommend the Mark Levinson Equipment. I think the best combo would be to use either the No. 534 or 536. Also good would be the No.532H. The Mark Levinson Integrated No.585.5 would be excellent, but just not able to hit the really high Volume mark. Please call the store if we can help you with further advise and purchase.

Tigger, My advice is to buy as much power as you can. Those are not efficient speakers and dynamic range matters a lot.

Mark Levinson gear used to look so much more stylish back in the 90's in my opinion. Just my opinion, nothing to get angry about, but their stuff is no longer pretty, kind of boring looking really. Obviously that says nothing about the way it sounds.

@@Relayer6a Who cares, he's essentially a marketing guy, the name on the brand. People don't buy ML for sound; They buy it for status. Although they make some very nice digital source components, I don't know why anyone who loves music would spend large sums of money for a solid-state amp and preamp. I'll take my 300B SET amp over ML gear any day.

If you look at the post I was replying to you will see that Ron thought buying ML product somehow kept Mark living high on the hog. Mark Levinson the man hasn't received a single penny from the company that bears his name in decades was my only point.

Not really. He lost this company that bares his name in a divorce settlement. So, actually his ex took everything including his name from him.
