Hi, I don't understand how the first model can have all those features that will ensure optimal record playing,, but the second model has a whole bunch different/ superior features also to ensure optimal record playing,, given that the second model is so different in component spec. would lead to the assumption it is superior, and produces better results,, so one must then surely question the first models ability.

The VPI Prime 21 in Walnut is now $5,000 and the Prime Signature 21 in Black is $8,200, or Rosewood for $9,200. My understanding is that VPI is raising prices effective July 1st, 2022. Can't say that surprises me given the high rate of inflation these days.

Looking at buying the prime. What options can I add to the prime at a later date to upgrade it?

Hi Colin. Thank you for your question. My favorite upgrade is the least expensive, the dual pivot that stabilizes the tonearm, $150. Other worthy upgrades would be the VPI ADS speed control, a lift up to raise the arm at the end of the record, and better feet to reduce vibration. Before you do too many upgrades to the table I would also put good money into an upgraded cartridge.

Michael Fremer says VPI think anti-skate takes away more than it adds (or words to that effect). The looped cable has an anti-skate effect.

Prime Signature has a lot of commonality with the ML . I know they make the ML , I'm talking about design features.

prime sig has a different tone arm compared to the prime. JMW10 3DR

Thanks, Eugene, both tables feature a 3D Printed JMW-10 Tonearm. The Signature arm is wired with Nordost Reference wire and gets the Metalic Gloss Black finish.

Close ups, we do not see anything. Show the tone arm, show the cartridge, show the belt, show every inch of the turntable like it was the voluptuous woman we admire the most. Thanks for the video though.
