These videos have given me a real sense of the social history of Wallsend and the north-east of England. This is interesting for me as that's where many of my ancestors came from. I'm Australian, born in Australia, about 5th or 6th generation born here. Also, along with Vera using a Geordie accent for the role, you have educated me about the origins of some of the words and phrases used by my grandmother and my father and other family members. There's something really 'familiar' about all your stories, esp. the ordinary working class people and their way of living. Thanks so much 😊

I remember the shop you mention for sale on the corner of Union Street and Roman Wall as my Aunt lived in Union Street and my Gran lived in Roman Wall, i remember buying sweets from there , and in particular, Fruit Bonbons, yummy.

Ahh I love old sweets, I wish we still had the same ones from when we were kids, but they all change over time and don't seem as nice now.
