Same, this show’s been comforting my anxiety for about 2 weeks straight now. I thought I was just a crazy person, then I started reading the comment sections. Maybe it’s the fantasy of having a tight nit group of friends who are all passionate about the same thing I am. All my friends get that familiar glaze in their eyes whenever I start talking about archeology.

@@mintybadger6905 I can definitely relate to seeing 'friends' eyes glaze over when I try to talk about something that interest me. I think you're right about that close knit team aspect being comforting; they come across as something of a model work family, all unique individuals who often disagree, yet come the end the day they'll be laughing off their theory rivalries or just laughing at themselves and each other over a drink and getting right back to work the next day with no petty drama. It's good for the soul to see people just getting along working together like that

As an avid armchair archaeologist and an American of British ancestry, I was exceptionally pleased when I discovered Time Team about a year ago. I have watched quite a few of the episodes so far, and came to like all of the various members of the group. I was saddened when I discovered that Mick Aston had passed away in 2013 and Robin Bush in 2010.Both added so much to the series, Mick in particular. I often made fun of the multicolored striped sweater he wore in so many episodes. Eventually, I will get through all of the episodes, and will probably watch them more than once.

I remember watching this one in 1994. I was then 19 years old and desperately wanted to become an archaeologist. This show validated the fact that Archaeology could be interesting and exciting to my friends who thought I was crazy to want to take it up as a career. I also remember being horrified as Tony jumped into trenches with abandon, trampling artifacts with no knowledge of 'protocol'. Watching the change in his knowledge over the 20 years of the show, and how he went from being an interested and enthusiastic bystander to a knowledgeable and reverent team member was a privilege.

I am the opposite! -- Meaning, I considered archaeology myself when I was young (once upon a time) but now, after watching and loving many episodes of this program, I am glad I didn't. But you can judge people by what we know to be true about their time, and the problem with "don't judge people then by the standards now" is that a lot of people use that line as a way to distract from, or negate, sound judgements about people from different times _as if_ they were made because of today's standards. It's a common thought trap to encounter today.

I first discovered Time Team in the later seasons, so funny to go back to the beginning and see how much hair everyone had! And no trademark outfits or accessories!

Carenza is a formidable proponent of her views , warding off all comers with her powers of intellect and will ! She'd make a powerful queen !

when I watch the later seasons then watch this...I am astounded at the progress the archeologists make later on and how little they were able to find in the early seasons. still, a great show.
