This cartoon would not likely air today due to Dingbat stereotyping as a Chinese and a Native American. Tho, it’s not as bad compared to the notorious 1941 Bugs Bunny cartoon of the same name. The main issue with that short is a African-American stereotype in a horribly racist manner.
@RoninCatholic9 ай бұрын
Note that literally nobody cares about the Irish and Anglo-American stereotype dances the Dingbat also used, and wouldn't care if he wore a Russian hat while doing the Cossack dance he sometimes does in other shorts. This is because political correctness isn't about cultural sensitivity, but about attacking the things that made the West great (Christendom in particular, but also rationality, the scientific method, and personal political freedom derived from natural rights) and seeing "whiteness" as a proxy for that. Almost everyone of any "minority" group either thinks their own stereotypes are funny and something to embrace as a joke now and again or at least that the stereotypes of other minorities are funny and resonant. White people of certain political backgrounds get offended on behalf of blacks, Asians, and Indians far more than these people get offended on behalf of themselves and almost infinitely more than they would ever rally to defend each other. That, or in certain Western nations, knowing that feigned outrage can be weaponized and not _actually_ being bothered by the stereotypical depiction (or being bothered only because it's accurate enough to hurt their feelings by highlighting a real and significant cultural problem, like how "ebonics" and functional illiteracy make someone sound dumb) and cynically exploiting this. We can even point to concrete precedent on this. White people were offended on behalf of Mexicans for the stereotypical depiction of Speedy Gonzales (a womanizing border-hopping criminal) and so Warner temporarily removed him and his shorts from the Looney Tunes lineup until Mexicans collectively said they weren't offended and thought he as funny. Who'd be more familiar with criminal border-hopping thugs and thieves than Mexicans? Some even go so far as to see Speedy as a hero, somehow.

This is a terrible take bro, you're both taking this cartoon for kid and throwing your own political dog crap in it is pretty hilarious to me. because some people think stereotypes are funny, doesn't mean you student be aware that other people think it would be offensive. Am Mexican and I like speedy Gonzales, doesn't mean other Mexicans like speedy Gonzales, speedy is at least a cool character that show's respect for Mexican culture, the bird turning into a typical Chinese, native American stereotype is only funny for people who aren't those culture's, the native American and Chinese clothing is only accurate to white people who no barely little about them, am pretty sure animator's form the 50 or 60 didn't give a shit about how offensive it would be to people at the time, as for the top comments they can literally get rid of the racist stereotypes it's a real snowflake move to worry about how offensive it could be but you could literally just get rid of it by editing them out of the shot. It kinda sad to see people bitch about stuff like this, it's just a cartoon for stupid baby's.
@Mario-kl8yq8 ай бұрын
But like seriously bro you literally wrote a entire essay about how racism isn't bad for you, that's fucking dum but what do I know. am just getting annoyed by political beliefs on "both sides" by this point, even am starting to realize arguing about stupid cartoon shit takes the soul out of you. Also speedy Gonzales is like a robin hood character for some of us like his main adversary was Silvester as the border portal like.... Come on man. also all the Looney tunes character are morally in the wrong in most of thare shorts. like bugs being a asshole for no reason "most" of the time. Also the Irish dance can be offensive if you make it offensive if the people of Irish descent see it as offensive. Also "robin catholic" the name literally says a thousand words on your political beliefs. So with all that said I don't really care on any one's political beliefs. if you think Mexican are all just one note thugs your free to think that,and if you think a cartoon should be banned for showing some racist imagery for a few frames you can have that belief too. Also am not going to respond anybody because I know you or me don't really care, if this comment section becomes world war 3.... we'll that's all of your problems. goodnight tri-state area!

You're are having a political argument about a cartoon from the 50s or 60s, that's pretty pathetic.
@Mario-kl8yq8 ай бұрын
@@RoninCatholic note that nobody cares about you're political beliefs in a cartoon about a dingbat from the 1950s. Also ronin catholic that explains a lot about your political beliefs. Don't what to judge you off on that but concerting you wrote all of that, yah a little hard to take, that to seriously, probably a good guy though. I just can't take people who write stuff about politics left or right seriously. That's all I have too say probably won't respond if it becomes world war 3 in the comment section.
