You can make a hat stand by using a candle stick and glueing a styrofoam ball on top. You can leave it as is or cover the styrofoam with felt or fabric. You can also use a small lamp base, just remove all of the electrical parts and glue the styrofoam ball on top. I work at a Victorian home museum and that’s what we use to display vintage hats.

I always thought that decorating storefront windows in seasonal themes would be the perfect job. Your display of these collected vintage equestrian-themed pieces is masterful. Your home is always so attractively decorated. the equine decor is simply gorgeous I may be a little OCD in this area, but a great way to get the kinks out of those acetate/ saton ribbons that are used in the trophy ribbbons is to simply run them though a curling iron or flat iron set on low setting, just slide it through quickly, the heat shouldn;t bother the foiling on the ribbon but straighten the kinks out. I also have used this method for straightening out silk and velvet ribbons as well...
