When I was researching this video, I only saw that the TIE Lander had been named or shown in canon material, and the vague picture shown in the Complete Locations book looked like what we see in Rogue One. Now that Rogue One has been released for home video, it would appear that those ships are, in fact, the TIE Boarding Shuttle as some of you have pointed out. Sorry for the mixup! Although at the moment the Lander and the Boarding Shuttle might be the same, but Boarding Shuttle in the case of Rogue One is a more accurate name.

For those who don't know, TIE stands for "Twin Ion Engines." In real life, an ion engine was used to propel a probe across the solar system. It's great fuel efficiency for long journeys. But it's not great for combat maneuverability.

Possibly! I read somewhere (sorry, can't remember the source) that Captain Phasma is capable of piloting all First Order vehicles. And I known it's not really canon, but she's shown flying a Special Forces TIE Fighter in one of the bonus levels of Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so, it would seem like there's a chance of a special Phasma TIE, or just Captain Phasma in a TIE fighter in the upcoming films.

One problem I've seen, the TIE bomber like craft in rogue one are identified TIE/br boarding shuttles, originally intended to appear in ANH first but cut for various reasons with only the interior of the boarding pod visible in the final film, with the variant in ESB still unnamed, but likely to be the TIE/sh Shuttle, a variant meant for use by the lower ranks (although the reason Needa took it is likely because the Lambda-class didn't yet exist in canon when ESB was made). The TIE Lander in both Canon and legends is described as a *triple hulled* ship, both examples you used were twin hulled.

I've not seen a variant of the TIE Defender with six laser cannons. The model I'm familiar with is armed with four laser cannons and two ion cannons. This was a response to the effectiveness of the twin ion cannons mounted on Y-wings.

Honestly, even though it could have had a much more imaginative design, I think the First Order TIE S/F might be the best, because it's got the full package: Speed, maneuverability, defensive shields, firepower, and even a secondary gunner position for even more firepower. Heil to the First Order!

Your wish for the TIE Phantom is a nice idea, but if i have to choose, i would wish for the TIE Hunter. It´s by for the most versatile, having lasers, ion cannons and torpedoes with shields and hyperdrive. Basically, it´s the Gunship in TIE style, but faster and more agile, while being way cheaper than the TIE Defender.

I think you made a slight mistake: I don't think a Tie Lander could carry a company of Stormtroopers, because company size is generally 100+ personnel. Maybe they carried a squad 10 or less? Nitpicking, yes...but it stood out to me. Otherwise, nice video!

A COMPANY could not possibly fit inside a TIE, that's near 200 troopers. The ship seen in ESB was the TIE SHUTTLE, and had inverted wings. The TIE Defender had 4 lasers and 2 ion-cannons.

ReapingPhant0m the problem with the empire is that they werent planning on a large war. They needed numbers to cover the whole galaxy, and they didnt think the "rebel scum" would have the strength and organisatian that it had, so they basicly could just scare them away. When they realised they needed an army for a war it was to late to just change their whole economy. So the imperial army was build for "peacekeeping" not to win a war.

Actually those in Rogue one are not TIE landers, as they lack the third pod under the two others. I looked on wikis, and it appears that those are actually TIE/br boarding shuttles, specialized in... boarding ships, same for Captain Needa's ship in Episofe V, as it's a variant of it, named the TIE/sh VIP shuttle.
