Love Little River Band. I always felt they were very underrated and never got the overall credit and recognition they deserved. One of my favorite bands that would be categorized as yacht rock. I remember, during the late 70's and early 80's, they had a string of hit songs played all over top 40 radio. My favorite songs from them are "Reminiscing" (Today's featured song although I didn't know it's the most played song in radio history), "Help Is On Its Way", and "Lonesome Loser". Great band.

My wife and I have an unforgettable memory of a 2005 house party we hosted when all but a dozen or so folks had left...1-2am...my best friend put Reminiscing on the stereo...everyone chilled, solidly drunk, probably high & happy...WE ALL sang the song together as a unit smiling at each other as we sang, aware that it was a special moment. Pure bonding of friends and human spirit over music...this song obviously had touched all our lives up to that exact moment. That's what a great song can do! Cheers, LRB!

I was in High school and working at my home town’s local drugstore (all around store) seemingly always in the back room filling bags of ice for the liquor section. The radio on the loudspeaker could be heard back there and The Little River Band was absolutely in their heyday. This song puts me right back to that time when I was young and didn’t care about tomorrow, just scooping ice and nodding my head to the music. Great song.

What a beautiful song. It came out when I was young and although I really didn't understand the song's meaning, I did understand that people liked to remember their past. My mom and grandmother were always talking about the past (the good memories anyway - there was some bad too). When I got older, the lyrics meant a lot more to me. Now that my husband has passed away, I can relate to this song more than ever.

Great segment about a classic. As a 5 year-old in 1978, this was such a smooth and buttery sound all the way through, from the vocals, to the bass, to the strings and harmonies. It was ear candy like nothing else that year, which is saying something as 1978 was the year of the Bee Gees. Also, I still think that Mike Rutherford was influenced by those great rhythm chords when Genesis wrote "Throwing it All Away". There's definitely a bit of a nod to Reminiscing there, to my ears. Such a special song, and an oddball on the scene at the time. I recall liking this song as a kid, and I remember in my twenties I had a LRB vinyl and heard Reminiscing with musician ears for the first time and was shocked at how complex and almost jazzy, and yet ragtime-ish, and yet still almost with a southern rambling to it. That moment made me realize just how talented that band really was and I was kinda surprised they were all over the radio as much as they were. Turns out The Little River Band was such a big part of my childhood listening prior to 6yo (not that my parent-bots were avid music fans, they only listened contemporary stuff on the radio). But there was something so special about the musicianship, especially the vocals by various members of the group, a couple of them could belt, and the main singer was this crooner with an amazing tone to his voice. So many of their songs made it into my deep memory. I pulled up a playlist of theirs a few years ago and was shocked at a) how many of the songs I knew, and b) that all of those songs were by one group, Night Owl being a special favorite of mine. I'm also rather disgusted at how absent their music has been in the last 30 years of "classic rock" and 70/80s contemporary radio stations. If anyone listened to radio anymore I'd say we should try to change that, lol. But now in the age of streaming "we" actually get the say so of what gets played a lot, and us older fools know what's good from back in the day and I think programs such as yours, Mr. Adam, are really helping keep the music alive for newer generations. I love that you are giving these guys their "due," it's long overdue, lol. Keep up the great work. Wayne Nelon should be publicly mocked and ridiculed and run out of business. Or at least wear an eyepatch and have a hook for a hand so everyone knows what he really is. Sorry, stepping down from my soapbox now...

Adam, I am truly moved by this salute to Graeham Gobles masterpiece. I was among the very fortunate youths who were first to own this album, in 1978 was emblazoned in my soul. The meticulousness of these band mates that created a genre of it’s own, I worked in radio that very same year in my first job. And it stuck. Funny how all these years later, the music of our generation was relevant and truly mattered.

In the 70s and 80s, Aussie bands were playing for a relatively small market and had to “sell” their songs live to a pretty brutal rock pub audience. It wasn’t the place for the shy or those who preferred the studio. You can hear in a lot of bands a “live” sound, from the Easybeats to AC/DC to INXS to 90s/noughties bands like Spiderbait, Regurgitator, The Grates and Powderfinger. I don’t know much about LRBs history live but I bet they were good.

I'm an Aussie, watched LRB on Countdown. When it was released, I absolutely loved it as a teenager. I was also brought up on musicals and music of the 1930s and 40s. This is such an elegant work. It's my favourite LRB song, still ranks as one of my favourite songs.

Little River Band..where do I start..😊. I’ve loved their work since the beginning. In the early 80’s, I used to frequent a pub in Melbourne (AU) to see a band that had two ex-LRB members (David Briggs & Roger McLachlan). Glen Shorrock once made me a hot chocolate in the upstairs bar of the same pub. I also loved the version of the band fronted by John Farnham, and last but not least, a dear friend, Adrian Scott, was in a latter version of LRB when they were fronted by Steve Wade (another very talented singer). My favourite song of theirs is Long Way There…🥰🥰

I was a little too young to really appreciate this song at the time. But, with that said, what a treat to visit this song again later in life. I never appreciated the layering and complexity until now. Thank you for moving this and bringing it back from obscurity.

The classic story of LRB is where the name came from, they were travelling from Melbourne to Geelong and were told they needed a better name (can't remember the original name) and were passing a sign for a freeway exit for 'Little River".

Love LRB and Goble is a good interview. He likes to talk and has a lot of interesting things to say. for those of you who don't know the story of how they lost their name there is a great Goble interview by John Beaudoin of Rock History Music on You Tube and also an Australian 60 minutes interview of Goble, Birtles and Shorrock. They trusted their management and it backfired on them. Glenn Shorrock is also one of the best pop/rock vocalists of any era. Guy has a great voice! they should be in the R&R HOF also.

I'm a American and I'm very upset what has Happened to my favorite band . I've been been a die hard fan from day one . Seen them multiple times. The Clasic line up should be in the Rock n Roll hall of fame . The group that calls themselves LRB now is a disgrace to us true fans. It's belongs to Australia not America. I miss not seeing and hearing Graham Glenn and Beebs vocals . The best harmonies ever in Rock n Roll history. Thank you to the true LRB for amazing memories. I listen to your creative genius every day.

This is the difference in classic and modern music. Guys working hard to creat a sound no one had heard before. Real musicians at the top of their craft building melodies and harmonies with layers of sound . Guitars, keys , drums , bass , and even a horn , woven tight with smooth vocals , great harmonies and lyrics you can visualize! Working a pop song so perfect that it lasts for years.
