One of my cousins read a motionless in white somg to my aunt. The really liked the lyrics. She thought they had so much meaning. Then my cousin played the song for her. And she was shocked. I will never get over the lyrics, I weep every time I watch the video, it shows to me that he went through a chaotic, complicated relationship that left him numb and broken inside but then you see his people, the people that he loves that love him back and will try to fix him and bring him back to life. It's literally perfection to see the old couple dressing him so carefully and patiently, I can't hold my tears when I see Jack putting him on the young renegade jacket and how you can see him singing and dancing back again. This is fucking poetic, I will be 75 years old and I will still love this song and video like I did the first time I watched it

. As a fan, you GROW, with the band. That means, you grow with them through everything. That includes the music. It's still the ATL you know and love, they're just growing. It's amazing! The only way to be able to grow and learn is to go out of your comfort zone. I think they will finally start to get the amount of recognition that they actually deserve. This is an amazing thing, I understand why you would be upset, but seriously. Growing up isn't a bad thing, it's opening doors where you don't know what gonna happen yet, it's exciting.
@king_julian3277 жыл бұрын
Katelyn Marie Couldn't agree with you more:)
@katmarie48127 жыл бұрын
Sclera LaLaLa ok then this wasn't @ you? I never said you HAD to like the artist, or their music. My comment was at the fans who are having a harder time with their band (in this case, ATL) doing new things with their music and their styles. You can like, or not like whatever you want to. Never said you couldn't.
@katmarie48127 жыл бұрын
Sclera LaLaLa I apologize I misunderstood your comment. But that's not what I meant either, I agree, not liking a band doesn't mean you're not growing. That's true. I just meant, that fans having a hard time with the band exploring other things, don't have to worry. That they can grow with them and accept instead of thinking of the negatives. Or they don't have to. It's up to them.
@alexokeeffe69957 жыл бұрын
Katelyn Marie you might grow with the band, but not everyone grows in the same direction. As someone who continues to love the gritty pop punk sound that they has in the past, this is a very disappointing track for me. I hoped that after Future Hearts they would go back to their edgier style but in fact they've dived even further into the indie pop style. This track sounds like they're trying to do what all other FBR bands do which is mellow their sound to appeal to a larger audience and it doesn't sit well with me. This track sounds like they're pandering to a new audience and just leaving what they had behind idk
@katmarie48127 жыл бұрын
Alex ØKeeffe I understand and I can also agree. Maybe they are doing that, maybe they aren't. You don't HAVE to love the band when they change. Cause obviously this is a big change from what they usually do, but we haven't heard the whole record yet. Maybe they have a mix of what they used to have and a little bit of what was on future hearts? Maybe they're honestly growing up and don't find a huge interest in some of the subjects they used to write? Idk, you have a really valid point though.

Been a fan of All Time Low since I heard their music on MTV in 8th grade. 7 years later and I still can't get enough. I can't quite understand why everyone complains that they are changing it up and trying out new styles. If they stayed the same, it would literally be so boring, and people would complain about that too. Give them a chance with this new label, at least they are still making music and doing what they love.

I've been listening to all time low since I was 12 and I'm 18 now and I still love them. You know their old music still exists, right? If you prefer that, great, listen to it. No one is forcing you to like this song. But if every time new music comes along you complain that it doesn't sound like your old faves, you're not giving them a chance. New songs become old favourites eventually.
@xotbirdox7 жыл бұрын
Me. I've been listening to them since I was 14 and now I'm nearly 19. I became a woman in this fandom. I hate when people say they've changed. I don't think they have. They've only grown musically and that's not a bad thing at all. But like honestly, they've never really been "heavy" pop punk so I don't understand why people are surprised when they make light songs. Pop punk has two sides anyway, that's kind of the point of the genre. Keep Hustlin'.

Yeah I think for the most part that does scare me but at the same time it's their job. I mean the lyric "and come down to voice a generation" from So long soldier shows that it's a dream for his to be able to write music that will touch as many people as possible. "Fake fans" will be the downside to it but the fact that their music, even just one song, will be able to make someone new feel something they hadn't before, makes me happy.

I didn't even realize this until I watched this for the second time... We all endure phases through self-discovery. In creating who we are, we often get lost and make choices based upon influence and pressure rather than our own truth. Because these actions don't align with us, they feel like a mistake and we stand as blank as Alex does the first half of this song contemplating everything. This is all represented from 1:30 (when Alex just stands there while being poked and prodded by what seem like a bad crowd) til 2:11 when Lisa comes back (I believe it was also Lisa in the beginning, just in her mirrored process of self-discovery and pressure to be something she truly is not). The reason they come back together in their different phases expresses their souls being connected even when their actions don't match their truth. At 2:37 we see a younger Alex being him the clothing to replace the old shell of a tshirt that Lisa removed as a symbol of inviting him into a safe place for him to be his true self regardless of his skeletons. We're then greeted by his parents who dress him and Jack who puts on his jacket... all developmental people who have always been there through the evolution of the man they see today. The song starts building and we see Rian and Zack now, and then at 3:16 Alex breaks into what all older ATL fans see as the true Alex or we become nostalgic to the sound and elements we all fell in love with. This video meant more to me right now in my element of self discovery than I realized until watching it twice over. I've loved this band since I was 14 and I love them even more at 24.

I have thousands of songs I've been listening to over the years, and for some reason, to this day, this is my favourite song STILL. I don't even know why, I don't really listen to all time low as a band but this song always comes on top right next to legends like Queen and the Beatles. Why is this song so godamn perfect?!

People who are complaining need to take a step back and look at this from a different perspective. All Time Low have been around for awhile and of course they need to grow and evolve. They are experimenting with sound and staying relevant. They continue to write catchy as hell songs and be inventive and not sound like every other "Pop-Punk" band. I am so excited for their new album and to see how they have grown musically.

To me, this song is about him making peace with his wife's past. By saying "she's got her secrets, yeah I've got mine too" he acknowledges that she's not the only one who has made mistakes. I think the kind of soft tone really suits the first half of the song. It feels like him being trapped in her past. Then he breaks the cycle and the guitars kick in. It's clever and carries a lot of emotion. Maybe I'm just stating the obvious but I like this sound for this song. Even though it's different.

Why is everyone bitching saying "last time they changed record labels, dirty work came out". What? First of all Dirty Work wasn't a bad album at all. Yes it wasn't there best but it was still pretty good. Second, they wouldn't just switch records for the fun of it. Obviously they didn't want to be a part of hopeless records anymore for some reason and needed to switch. Also to the people saying that the album is gonna be shit because they're on the same record as panic and top, you're stupid. Just because some people don't like panic or top doesn't mean it's going to have any influence on the content that All Time Low produces. I'm actually really excited for this new era for All Time Low and I can't wait for the new album.

Wow I just ran by this song and band a hour ago and never knew of them. It's like it's talking about the way my mind works in worry with my soul mate. She was wild and did lots of stuff I didn't like hearing about or knowing of like the bar scenes and partying a lot and doing drugs and I grew up a good boy never in trouble, stayed away from drugs or going to parties and wasn't a bad boy and she was the opposite of me and it's a ton of dirty laundry but I ain't perfect either and you know what, I shouldn't sweat it what she's done in her past before me, I love her and should love her for her as she has went through all those bad relationships and wild partying times and drugs and recovering from them and staying away from it for over a year now for me, I am her support and we both went through terrible past marriages and both had very bad childhoods even though I never caused trouble and she did but through it all we found each other and through all her abusive women beating ex's she selected me, finally a good guy that is different from the bad boy scene. The part of the video of the guys ripping off his clothes is like me standing there and all her bad ex's are trying to rip the good from me making me Bad like them and trying to ruin my vision of her and my mind trying to let them tear me down but she is always there to grab my hand to let me know I am the one she loves and wants to marry and have the future with that she's always wanted, so her ex's can't compete with me or bring me down to their level as I'm her now and future. The past is the past, I need to accept it, not dwell on her past or worry about what she's done or who's she's been with and love her for her the best I can and not care what she's done but what we will do in the now and present and near future cause at the end of the day, I did tons of sneaky bad shit to when I was a teen and no where near perfect myself so I get his message and it's like it's speaking to me in its own awesome way. Great song!

I've been a fan of ATL since 2005, when their first album was released, and every single time they release a new album, I hear the same shit about the way their music has changed when the first single of the album gets released. You can complain about how this "sounds like every moody pop song on the radio right now" all you want, but they also have older songs that sound like this, too. This is just 1 song. We have no idea what the rest of the album is going to sound like. If you don't like this song, so be it. Go back to listening to their old songs and albums and don't listen to this. You're entitled to your opinion, but shitting on an entire album that you haven't even heard just because of one song doesn't make you "edgy", it just makes you an asshole.
