I think it’s also important to mention that the option you should go for also depends on what you plan to do in VR. If you just want to sit/walk/kick, then other solutions might be alright. If you plan to mainly dance in VR, anything other than vive/tundra trackers right now will not work. That is what I wanted trackers for and the information I found online always mentioned that IMU/slimevr/haritora is fine for dancing too, but that’s only casual 1 dance when you’re bored in VRChat. So I wasted money and then purchased vive trackers anyway.

An alternative to building your own slimevr trackers is using phones as trackers! It works well enough to fuck around vr. Look it up if you happen to have 5 phones lying around

As someone who was working on body tracking systems before SlimeVR got popular, the IMUs nowadays are good about handling drift to a very reasonable level. Some sensors have their own onboard systems that are dedicated to just eliminating drift and interference issues. Issue is that you have to also know how to use said systems, and that's where things get dicey. Plus, so you have to recalibrate maybe an hour or so. If the price is lower or you can use something else to also help it (headset information is a good one), then drifting shouldn't be too big of an issue. In my own tests, I've had about 1 degree off after 24 hours of no movement. With motion, I never had a good enough of a test for this so I can't say.

I mean, the 1.0 is the same as the 2.0 in my opinion, although I don’t believe they have an IMU. So losing tracking means no rotation or anything

Haritora X is definitely becoming more available, and all you need is Bluetooth connectivity; which is just a $10 dongle at worst. Biggest issue with SlimeVR is that it isn't user friendly to setup at all. Also has drifiting issues, and uses Wifi to connect. Hadn't seen any issues with connectivity, unless you literally have a wifi connected phone in your pocket, but drifting is the biggest issue, since they aren't super professional grade IMU's like a mocap suit. Also, wouldn't recommend the Vive tracker 1.0 or 2.0. The 3.0 trackers have way better battery life overall, and generally matches the battery life of Index controllers. Only $130 each, but they are generally always available at least.

I can’t wait to see what a big company like apple does for FBT. I keep picturing something similar to an AirTag attached with medical-grade reusable sticky gel to adhere directly to the skin.

Prep the site with a little alcohol wipe before each use, keep them clean when put away and the sticky stuff should be good for months!

Personally i hate the index and rwther the vive pro 2 and knuckles controllers, purely xos index doesnt have a warranty in Australia

Thank you for a more recent update on everything available for VR related options. Also does Rokoko equipment work for VRC or just for tracking movement inside of isolated programs.

i use 3 cv1 controllers and does the same as vive and its cheaper and you can use 4 lighthouses

There’s a fbt solution that works as good as vive trackers with ps move and cost way cheaper, even cheaper than one vive 3.0 trackers. There’s a guy who made a 30 min video about it. It’s just a little hassle to set up but works great for mocap.
awesome, everything is hard to get right now because of supply issues

So I was told that you needed either a Vive or Index to have the base stations work with either Tundra trackers or Vive trackers, is this not the case?
@3hxde2 жыл бұрын
Disagree with vive trackers being the absolute best but base station tracking is definitely the best for ease of use and best for clean tracking that is somewhat reliable compared to most of the others

Fofamit, regarding Kinect v2 I am not very clear about your opinion since you focused more on the price than on a precision comparison, is it more recommended than using android, iphone, leap motion, etc?
