Wouldn’t mind 4:3 if you could watch it in landscape and zoomed in to 16:9. Doesn’t work on mobile (iOS KZbin app) and I’m not sure how many people actually watch long form content in portrait. Saw another person say the same on their Samsung S21 so not an iOS issue, KZbin doesn’t know what to do with 4:3.

Does the zoom-to-fill feature only work on 16:9 videos for you? Because it definitely worked for me regardless of the aspect ratio historically on both the latest iOS and Android 12, on KZbin and... certain other video sharing sites, you know... In fact, it would even stretch portrait-oriented videos to the entire screen in landscape rotation if you tried.

60p? 60Hz? But yeah, I agree. Most people are watching this on 16:9 or wider screens, so it wastes a huge chunk of their screen space for no good reason, and genuinely looks works on 1080p screens. If you're watching this on a phone or an ultrawide monitor with a 21:9 or greater aspect ratio, it's a nightmare.

I did not buy Variations because I heard from multiple reviews that they can be shouty with certain songs, and I'm very sensitive to that. I bought the Dunu SA6 instead, and they never feel fatiguing or harsh whatsoever, so I'm pretty happy.

I have to agree with zeos. Shouty is not an attribute with my pair. In fact my only complaint with the sound is a recession in vocals and too much sub bass on some songs. Long story short, the Variations are stunning on 90% of my very diverse playlist.

I bought the TA1 back on January for 22.5 bucks at AliExpress (some coupons here and there), they are good but honestly as you said they need a little bit more bright but overall I prefer them over the BL-03 of my sister, I still take my SSP and SSR anyday but else I frickin love the TA1 and personally just because I got the Japanese version I love them. Personal recommendation, get the TA1, SSP, SSR and the KSC75 with an old iPod and you reached college end game stuff.

Not all old IEMs suck. I have some Ultimate Ears Superfi 3s from around 2005 that still sound great. They sound super good on something with the ifi bass boost. Single BA so bass isn’t the strong suit but man are they clear. If you can find a set for cheap, check them out.

Yes, Variations technically hits deeper and the bass doesnt bleed into the mids. In fact, Mammoths are just horribly tuned given most preference standards.

From my experience with the Variations, they are missing detail on the top end. For example, the Variations is not able to provide resolving detail on the sleigh bells in Hanggai-"Yekul Song" that even my Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones can present with ease. I'm actually quite shocked that this detail is not present on such an expensive pair of IEMs.

@@MechInfantry2AD fair point ..I love my set ( driven in balanced mode) ..but I suspect you’re IEM’s stable, much like mine offers something different and variety ( the true source of life) ..however I suspect that you and I are looking at our endgame iem ..that won’t break the bank. If the OH10’s aren’t entertaining ( 😳) maybe the OH7’s ..but then you’re into $1k US and at that point Starlight’s and Nanas come into the picture. Enjoy the music and do try to have some fun. Wow the Quality or rather details of this particular video is really poor. It has to do with 4:3, the 16:9 is a zoomed in version of this picture what benefits the detail. Because in this video on a 1440p Monitor and 1440p Resolution, I can only barely read the Singxer Logo if I'm in full screen mode, and than only if the camera is still for a moment. Outside of full screen mode, letters need to be bigger than that to read it. The motion bluer in 30 fps destroy the picture to the point this could be a podcast with a few pictures of the product and it would be about the same. It needs the zoom in or cropping to 16:9 or make it 16:10 and 60 fps to be able to read anything that is smaller than the "TA 1" letters consistently. 35:00 around that time you can also see how overexposed or just too bright everything is. Look at the girl picture on the bottom, and compare it to the one above, the one above is not rich in details on this video. However, I checked it on 2 Monitors and I can see contour of the bottom picture but that's pretty much it :(

The problem with the P1 is that they need a LOT of power to sound even remotely good. I truly love my P1 only on my ifi Hip-DAC with Xbass on (the pair being bass light it complement them nicely). Sound really really good in this configuration, but meh on everything else I have (included my desk setup SMSL SU-8 to a Drop 789) But yeah, outside of already owning a ifi amp with Xbass I wouldn't recommend the P1 to anyone. It's the most overhyped pair of IEM ever. Even if they kinda live to the hype in the perfect setup.

@@thierryfaquet7405 Schiit Asgard 2 and topping a50s didn’t save them for me. My own fault for not just getting the t1 or t2 in the line, but I wanted to see what planars in my head would sound like. Haven’t tried them since getting a Loki mini to over EQ the bass. Now I have a weekend project-take the jumper out of my basx100 and slowly twist the dial! Darn you! Darn you to heck! :)

Bad review for the variations? yeah i didn't like em & sold my pair: bass on them is horrible. it's slow and muddy and there is way to much of it (now happy with the etymotics er4sr, so I'm really not a bass head). I thought the mids where just fine. very natural and cohesive for multi driver but also nothing special (especially considering they cost 500 quid). Highs are fantastic though. and another reason I sold them is the fit. those nozzles barely fit in my ear canals, so talking or chewing was almost painful. tl;dr not a downright bad iem but I wouldn't pay more than 150 for them

One thing to remember is, because very few channels use this it's really jarring. It's also not very good on a television or if you prefer landscape mode. I understand why Z likes it. He has the super tall and then Sony flagship phone, bunch of vertical monitors and the 43 CRT. I don't have any of that hardware.
