Hello, great video, and great review. I just wanted to add that there is still an indicator that shows which values a certain effect is on when switching from for example the "delay" effect to the "reverb" effect. For example, if you store the "reverb mix" at "noon", then switch to the "delay" control and then store the "delay mix" for example at 3/4 and return to the "reverb" settings, you will see that when you turn the "mix" potentiometer the LED light starts flashing at exactly the position where you last memorized the value of that effect you are at, which is very helpful to me and probably to others as well. 11:00 When I first plugged in my Ventris, the Room was the first engine I tried and that's exactly what I thought. It is also great for adding a little "space" to direct recordings if you connect it in stereo and set it subtle.

I didn't think you bought these to do subtle
@DoNoise
@DoNoise 4 жыл бұрын
@@MarkRigler This is just one of the things you buy it for :) I think it is really useful for this application, though. Direct recordings may sound too dry or "lifeless" but a subtle stereo room reverb can help a lot with that. I find that most room reverbs sound more like tile rooms or bathrooms, which create some unpleasant resonating frequencies. Ventris/Collider's Room algo sounds very Hi-Fi.

Ah good, a review I can trust is always provided by henning. One thing I find odd is having reverb on the right as it would be on left after delay in a typical order that is. I have the nemesis and its great but always hoped for a dual delay function like the delay in the collider. Thanks as always henning.

haha... you are buying into the marketing and stats.... These are guitar signals! These are being reproduced by 12 inch speakers without tweeters... there is NO high end and 48KHz is wayyyyyyy more than you need to adequately sample a guitar sound. You would not be able to hear a difference... not even in a quiet studio setting.... most certainly not in a band setting. There will be ZERO difference! Feature wise... the Avalanche is nice, but very limited... the SA Collider does many many different algorithms and is a completely different tool.

I’m really like this pedal. I’m looking at everything reverb computers pedals. Out there now. I currently am using an Oceans 11, Hall of Fame 2, Caline Snake Bite and Ernie Ball ambient delay for all of my reverb needs. Between those and my 3 OD pedals I’m tired of tap dancing. This looks like it can replace all of my reverbs in one box and midi. These videos are great keep it up. How else can we hear all of these pedals.

@@shckltnebay The Collider is a great piece of gear, although it isn't perfect. The delays are excellent, but I find the reverbs to be a bit too digital for my taste; however, I use very minimal reverb for any of my other gigs, so take my opinion with a large grain of salt. I've never experience hiss or latency with the Collider, so it could be a defective unit for this player or just a junky signal chain. The only time I've ever had noise issues with this rig is when someone put a PoE injector under my board (I use a stereo Dante output). Cheap PoE injector introduced 60 cycle hum but that is going to happen, no matter how good the rest of your signal chain is - it's essentially a pretty powerful radio frequency at that minimal distance. As an ambient tool, it is easy to use, simple to program, and has great tone for the music this board is dedicated to. The downsides? The DSP is a little bit of a limiting factor - you can run 1 delay and 1 'verb; or two 'verbs; or two delays. Don't get me wrong - that's fairly flexible, but it also becomes an issue when you need to run stacked delays and a big washy 'verb (I really don't have any scenarios when I would stack 'verbs). I also do not use the editing software as it seems to be a kludgy and I really don't need that much superfine tweakery - the knobs and my ear have sufficed for this long, so why make it more complicated? A minor issue (for me anyway) - the tap tempo is tricky as hell to use. I've added an outboard dual momentary switch, which is very helpful for setting tap tempo and switching between the four onboard presets. No plans to go full MIDI at this point, so I'm of little help there. I would highly recommend it for players who need a good basic ambient tone, don't want to tweak through endless menus or editing software, and don't mind adding a second outboard delay if they need it. My two cents, anyway...Cheers!

got one on a whim; i don't THINK it's going to replace my blue sky for my main reverb, even if it is possibly better at le reverbs. just simply because the bluesky is just so darn simple. the delay side of the collider is also fantastic while finding sounds and tones, but again, while it is intuitive and easy to use, it's just not as easy as others i have at my disposal. in the end though, the collider hasn't not been at my feet since i got it. so what do i know; other than i don't regret buying it. fantastic pedal thanks for the video henning,

No matter how this sounds good, and maybe the best one out there at the moment soundwise, I still fancy the Seymour Duncan Dark Sun a bit more, THANKS TO the number of onboard presets, and the important thing: All outputs/inputs at the front of the pedal. Ok the SD is much bigger, but when putting this small pedal (the Collider) on your board you're ending up with just equally as much space to the left and right, because this one has outputs inputs on all sides, front, left, right and so on. Cramming everything in i such a small space, is going to reach some physical and optical limit at one point. You can't see the settings from above while standing, and you have to bend down and squint and put on your mondo magnifier glasses to see anything. BTW Seymour Duncan Dark Sun hits the mark with it's 5 second delay max. You can do Frippertronics, and ambient soundcapes. Anything from 3 seconds and below (Collider has 2,5 seconds max) is too short really. But that's a niche effect that some doesn't really care for.

I bet this would sound amazing with the clean from the carvin vld1 pedal . Which is another peal I plan on getting . My plan is to use my hughes and kettner black spirit really for the speaker Simulation only really. I'm going to have a y cable come out of the speaker simulation into my effects then from the stereo effects put with y cables from each side with one side of each side of the y cable with one side being able to feed direct into a board and the other side feeding a power amp . For the preamp section I'm just going to go into the clean channel of the bs with my kraken and a vai vld1 a carl martin dc drive , phaser and wha . This is the best set up I can figure out with stuff I all ready have and not complete changing out my rig and being able to go direct . I have three tube amps two head and one combo but one of them don't take pedals well at all and the old marshall is like a old harley davidson it works for a while then it's got to go in the shop . Really I have to much stuff as it is but going the bs route seems to be the best way to go to get the tones I want if any of what I described made sense . I guess I would not have to buy a power amp though and instead just get my marshall fixed again and run into it on one side and my music man 410 HD for the other . The trainwreck for as much as it was and as long as I had sounds good on its own but is very hard to tame and does not take pedals well at all except for a little bit of drive and a wah . I know this post was way to long but this is the best set up I can figure out with what I done have and still being able to get a good speaker simulation.

Source Audio is absolutely spanking the market with useful digital pedals lately. The best part is that you donMt just have a reverb engine and a delay engine, but TWO engines. Both can do BOTH, so dual delays, or a spring in a shimmer.....yes please! Been an eventide/strymon guy for years, but the smallness, the simple design, the extra flexibility under the hood, the app, and the MIDI functionality......winner! I have plenty of analog pedals when I want things to be kind of simple. When using digital, I want it to do anything I want.....cuz its digital. No limitations.

Hey Henning. Looking at your Mr Googoo shirt of tapes made me realize you need one of stripes of multi-colored duct tape. Maybe with the Friedman logo somewhere in it.

This an amazing pedal, and I purchased one. I am now thinking of purchasing 2nd, and running them in parallel where I dedicate one pedal to the dual delays and the second pedal to the dual reverbs. In this configuration I could also have up to 4 delays only or 4 reverbs only running, or any other combination up to 4 effects, or internally on each pedal run the effects in either series or parallel :).

I assume delay and reverb can be used simultaneously and the pedal automatically places reverb after delay in terms of signal path?

Love this pedal but I've grown tired of tweaking for tones over the years. Preferred a simple pedal that just delivers. The UAFX Starlight and Golden Reverberator are perfect for me and the tones have greater useability and nothing short of high end studio quality.

@@EytschPi42 Probably yes. There's a split stereo option (one engine to right, the other to left). Using that, he should be able to go Collider In 1 - Out 1 - Tremolo - Collider In 2 - Collider Out 2 - Amp. Probably should be checked and confirmed with Source Audio support line, though.

Pressing and holding either footswitch (assuming the corresponding effect is bypassed) scrolls through the 4 (or 8 in Preset Extension Mode) user presets. The left footswitch (Delay) scrolls downward through the presets and the right footswitch (Reverb) scrolls upward through the user presets.

Is it true that the Collider's preset switching takes between 200 ms and 1 second (when using Midi / Effects Switcher)? I would need something like the collider for my live pedalboard, but waiting a second for the sound to appear is not okay at all. Do you have any experience with that? I've also read that the delay/reverb unnaturally stops immediately when turning the collider of - is that true?
