Thank you for talking about the mount problems. I've told a few other skaters and was told I didn't know what I was talking about. The boot is good. The plate is mounted poorly. It's mounted like an inline skate instead of centered on ball of foot. I started having a lot of shin pain after a few months at the rink. Getting a new plate (reactor), and having it set farther back and centered and mounted properly made a huge difference. I wish they sold the colored boots seperate. I would reccomend them more if they did. As it stands. They need remounted right out of the box. It seems to be worse on smaller sizes (like the 4 i wear) but the sole is made with pre-marked holes and they align to the big toe. Also. The rock plate has a long tail end. Which causes smaller skates to have the plate too far forward. Otherwise the plate sticks out the back.

I had these for 4 months and the material connected to the heel tore. Took them to a shoe clinic and they said they were done. Learned that when you see glue or shine near base when it’s starting to peel, you can get them repaired. Another issue with the boot was the front rivets started to get loose. The plate had play on the front. Not sure how that happened. Anyways drilling them out was a nightmare since they spun and there was no meat to grab on the bottom part of the rivet. This was my right boot that suffered these issues. Left is good but I noticed it’s peeling near the base. I skate multiple times per week and really push myself learning how to jump. Thinking about going to a reidell 220. Seen your overview. Seems like a good step up.

Yesss , before watching this video I knew I loved my skates and now that I’m looking for a second pair, I wanted to find the hype with the moxi brand but find myself going back to look at the boardwalk (especially now that they have more colors!) Great video. I sold my Moxi Lollies and now own 2 pairs of Boardwalks. Love them for street, trail and court practice skating with the wide toe box and lower heel drop. I agree on the orange cushions. I replaced those after an upgrade to Reactor Fuse plates for a pair of Chaya Melrose skates. The orange ones were loosey-goosey, still after trying to tighten the trucks down. I now use the yellow cushions on those plates. Thanks for your insight.

I've been rocking on the boardwalks since 2014 and LOVE them ( I'm glad I have the OG's before they added the massive logo on the tongue ). The only major thing I did was replace the rivets with bolts so I had the option of changing plates. Which I did stuck with the rock plate but in purple to match the boot. As a rhythm skater these are amazing enough ankle support, comfortable to wear for hours on end and they don't look like anything else out on the floor. I'm currently running the Team Roller Bones Logos in a 57 101 but they are still to soft so I'm looking at getting the All American plus's after watching your review of the velvets ( I'd have to sacrifice my purple color scheme but hey functionality is more important than fashion XD )

So I have a set of blue Boardwalks and also white Fames. Before the Fame I ordered some Moxi Lollys (Amazon) in lilac. They were beautiful but I noticed one toe stop wasn’t centered. I decided for the price they should be centered on the boot, so I returned them-(before the return window closed) That’s when I ordered the Fame for a second pair of indoor skates. Later I contacted Moxi and requested if I ordered the Lolly could I get a guarantee the toe stop would be centered. They said it’s centered on the plate and shouldn’t affect the boot? I didn’t like it being off center. What do you think, please?
@rollerskateuniverse6763 Жыл бұрын
No 2 boots are exactly the same, even between the pair, bit the center seam isn't the center of the boots, either.... The true center is approximately between the 2nd and 3rd toe. Having a mount off by 2-3mm won't have any effect on them at all, any more than that, though, is worth returning

I bought 2 pairs of sure grips after watching these. I loved them but I have one problem and I want to ask your opinion to me it seems like the plate is mounted off. When you look at them from the top you can notice the wheels look uneven. So take a good look at them and tell me what you think please. They are supposed to be mounted aligned with your middle toe? Seems like these are mounted aligned with your big toe.
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
Good question. Typically a mount that is aligned between the 2nd and 3rd toe is centered. When factories build them, they typically get close enough, due to high production volume, versus a builder that takes time with every mount. These small differences generally will not affect anything tangible for a recreational skater. On the other hand, someone that skates 30+ hours a week and competes, it will be noticeable. I skated these on a factory mount, and there was very little that was noticeable regarding the mount. Lately there's been a lot of mass hysteria over factory mounts. A lot of people are blaming the mount for their inability to do things on their skates. That being said. It takes a LOT to be off far enough to make a tangible difference in the skating experience

Excellent question! The 120 offers a slightly increased amount of lateral support, but the thrust plate on them doesn't have a very good track record for durability. On the current Boardwalk, the plate is attached to the boot with rivets. Question- can they be upgraded easily? Also, is there a plate that has matching holes? I was considering the Suregrip Avanti. I had been looking at these vs the Lolly and am leaning toward the Boardwalk b/c of you but I also know I’m not overly keen on the plate. Also- thank you for the video! This is hands down the best, most informative review and I wish you had so many more!
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, the rivets can be drilled and punched out in favor of standard mounting hardware. As far as plates with matching hole patterns, I'm not certain of it unfortunately. But usually if the hole location on the plates is far enough away from the preexisting holes on the boot, there shouldn't be any adverse effects. Hope this helps!

@@rollerskateuniverse6763 so another question- maybe I'm crazy but I'm not stoked about the bolt-on toe stop and that's part of my reason for considering the switch. I wanted to get a heeled boot to give a try. I have a pair of Sure Grip Rebels that came with a DA45 plate and a pair of Riedell Bluestreaks (got on a crazy deal b/c they were 2nds and small) with Pilot Falcons. I've never had a bolt-on toe stop and I kind of hate it. I'm not a crazy good skater, maybe an advanced beginner. I did derby some years ago but never got serious about it b/c of time/locations conflicts. Would it be dumb to just drop the money for a plate (I'm assuming a 3 as I'm in a 5 boot) and give it a whirl with measurements? They say they've "made mounting easy by including four mounting holes in the front of the plate to aid in mounting different boot types." If it won't line up, I can suck up the toe stop and either sell/return the plates or save them for an upgraded boot in the future. Thoughts? Advice? Would also consider taking them to a shop and seeing if it's possible to swap the DA45s onto the Riedells and but the Pilot on the Suregrips.
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
@@erinmcmahon3785 they can be swapped, although shops won't take plates back if they've been mounted. Also, all of the plates mentioned have adjustable stops. Bolt-on stops are non adjustable. Follow the manufacturers size charts if unsure on sizing. Hope this helps!
