It's rare that someone showcases a product like this, and successfully delivers the reasons of how musicians and aspiring composers/scorers could BENEFIT in such detail. This REALLY is a great product sell. Very well done Homay - it would be nice to see you covering so much more like this!

I have Albion One for a year now and, of course, I still don’t know all the instruments, but among my favorites are: Legato strings mid (really gives this emotional sound) Woodwinds high (long and short) Strings staccato and spiccato Brass high long Strings octaves long (and short) The legacy cymbals and gongs XXL percussion stereo mix And the strings long (especially in the higher octaves) And much more... :)

I just got Albion One and this was a very helpful walk through of how to use different pieces of it together. One thing this video makes clear though is that there is obviously a lot of work to putting together a great track such as this one -- lots and lots of details. I imagine one could get the basic idea down, perhaps in a day, but then it could take weeks to get all the details perfected. Homay is clearly very skilled at this.

Well, film music can be any type of music, as long as it fits the film's story. For example, Full Metal Jacket has non-orchestral music in it, the movie mixes up the music genres through-out. It was stylistic but yet suited its scene's tone.

Thanks Homay! I'm very new to all this but bought Albion One a month or so ago to do original music for my demo reels. It's wonderful! I'm wondering: 1) can you guys publish a template that sets up Logic with all the instruments organized, it would be so much easier for beginners as I spend so much time just trying to discover each sound. Having the whole orchestra laid out as you have it might make it so much easier to get going 2) can you recommend some compatible (hopefully inexpensive) DAW control surfaces for regulating expression and dynamics - it's hard to figure out what's best. (I was looking at the Korg NanoKontrol but some reviews state it may not be that compatible)

A great tutorial, especially with all the sounds coming from one library, but I think if you used a stock reverb instead of the third party one, it would be more appealing, especially if people are on a budget!

Although this is not a specific Albion ONE question... But does Spitfire have any vids on setting up Templates and/or channel VI assigning... If that's a proper question? Lol. Hope I'm asking it the correct way.... So many composers that do vids have massive amount of channels and I'm not sure if it's a sample of ( for example) Brass Longs, or Woods spiccato....etc. Or are these just set up like templates... Using the same set up I'm referring to.

What is going on at 9:33? I have never seen 2 sets of automation in the same pane. Why is it called modulation when she is controlling volume?
@settingscon5 жыл бұрын
There are 2 automation lines because she selected multiples clips with different automation between them. She is controlling the MIDI CC1, which is standardized as Modulation, but you can set any kind of parameter to any CC, independently of what it's regularly called. And Spitfire Libraries usually default the Dynamics (she is controlling the dynamics, not the volume) parameter of their VSTs to CC1, so even though it's called Modulation, she is actually writing dynamics.

Combinations of sounds is a good reason. The BBC is one I want to get some day, when funds allow, but I use combos all of the time. I use the Studio Session sounds alongside Albion all of the time. Great blends. BBC will do it all, but more options and options for combos with different ambiances is cool, I think.
@ralfnolte1745 жыл бұрын
Stevensons Steamband, Brunel Loops and most of all: Easter Island Drums are all part of Albion One. The Taiko (and Taiko-Like) Hits there are just great, and you will not find too many good Taiko-Libs below the price of Albion One. If you aim at Zimmer-esque sounds, you'll need that HUGE Percussion sound. Look at SD2 from eastwest or Action Strikes from NI and check the pricetag for that alone.
@WillWilson5 жыл бұрын
Albion is a sketchpad, it gives you a selection of instruments and combinations you can use to make great music but lacks the individual instrument samples for solo instruments or even sections like violins in isolation. BBCSO is a full symphony orchestra with each section individually sampled allowing you to have full control over each instrument and also includes solo instruments. There are plenty of good Spitfire videos on how to start with Albion and then add detail and additional interest with larger more detailed libraries like SCS or Symphonic ranges. Christian Henson has done a series of about 3 videos I think starting with Albion One and then building up.
@synkrotron5 жыл бұрын
If you are on a budget and you are thinking of getting into orchestral stuff (let's face it, it ain't cheap diving down the sample library rabbit hole), as great as the benefits may be of having many libraries, I think that getting the BBCSO is best to dive into first and then, if you are sure that the orchestral bug has bitten, get stuff like Albion One in order to increase your sound palette. Personally, the only sample stuff I have is Battery (been using that for percussion since V2), Noire (which is my most recent purchase) and LABS (which is free). So I find that BBCSO is quite a pricey starting point. But I would prefer to go for that library, along with its amazing depth (solo stuff and ensembles), than start dipping into a selection of libraries that may be cheaper, but not quite give me what I want. I will be sitting on the fence a while longer... The current deal has some time to run...
