Use the concept of addition. 0+0 = 0 0+1 = 1 1+0 = 1 1 + 1 = 2 (but in binary we can't write like this) We have to use the series 8 bit (8 place of 1 or 0) series: 0 : 00000000 1 : 00000001 2 : 00000010 3 : 00000011 4 : 00000100 So 1+1 = 10 in binary But how you can convtert decimal number to binary: The series starts from left to right direction, with multiple of 2

I believe that in the case of the subtraction 1110b - 0011b = 1011b (given that we are considering SIGNED numbers in 4 bits) the equivalent in the decimal system, using 2's complement is: (-2) -3 = -5. We are doing operations In 4 bits (1 sign +3 magnitude) so the SIGNED decimals 14 and 11 cannot be represented. We have instead : 1110b -> -2, -0011b -> -3 and 1011b -> -5 regards

If someone finds subtraction as a hard task here is a simple trick to do subtraction using 2's complement addition. Leave values as it is till you find first 1 starting from Left (Least Significant Bit) (Leave first 1 as it is too) after that revert all values. . (as you can see first 1 from left is as it is) Now add this 2's complement to first value and drop the carry at MSB if you get it. EX. 1011-0111 (no of bits should be equal) 2's complement of 0111 is 1001. Now 1011+1001 = 10100 (right most1 is carry so drop it) ans is 0100 = 4 FOR NEGATIVE SUBTRACTION In negative subtraction if we don't get any carry again we take 2's complement of answer 8-11 ==> 1000 - 1011 == - 0011 (-3) 2's Comp of 1011 = 0101, 1000+0101 = 1101, 2'scomp of 1101 is 0011
