I have a Sonos ARC soundbar and I just purchased the Sony A80K OLED TV. I use DirectTV satellite as my provider. I currently have my soundbar in the eArc port of the TV and my receiver in the HDMI 4 port. 3&4 ports are the 2.1 ports. I see a bit of blurriness when watching TV currently, will that improve any by putting my directv receiver into the HDMI 1 in on the soundbar?

HELP ! My Samsung soundbar A40M only has a usb port and a fiber optical cable. My newest Xfinity DVR has no fiber optical cable. I don't have any sound. It was working fine with the old fiber optical cable. It is suppose to be paired via Bluetooth to the vizio TV .Update !! After a night's sleep, I just verified the HDMI connections and they were correctly installed. I thought I would restart the cable box and to my suprise it worked! Samsung soundbar is working now ! Thanks for your input and I will continue to watch your videos for sure.

Based on what you've stated, we'd connect the Xfinity direct to the TV and then connect the TV to the sound bar by way of the optical cable. You'll then perhaps need to adjust settings within the TV (ie: set audio to external speakers) and on the sound bar set it to the Optical input. Some other things you described seem a little unclear.

I have a set top box which is dolby digital. I am thinking to buy a sound bar which has dolby (Samsung Q800T). But my tv is old, and doesn't have ARC and just two HDMI input ports. The sound bar has two HDMI ports (one is ARC). Can I use these 3 to get dolby sound? Is it possible to connect my settop box to the sound bar non-ARC HDMI and connect the HDMI ARC from the settop box to the TV non-ARC HDMI input port? Does this work? Thanks in advance.

Good day. I finally got everything working but the output is connected to to HDMI 1 on back of tv instead of the arc. When I plugged it in there I got sound but no picture. I have been having an issue with sound being off with the audio cable. Does that sound like I'm getting optimal sound? It does seem better. I just want to make sure connections are optimal

Good Video. Pulling my hair out. Bought "Monster" 37" Brand Soundbar and used HDMI line from my LG TV(only 1 HDMI Slot). Works/Pairs GREAT as of a year ago to now. TV has only one HDMI(ARC) connection, used that to Soundbar. Sound Bar with the DISH Hopper Sling pairs great. Question. I wanted to buy a Home Bluetooth System for surround sound. This Model I want is .........Boytone BT-324F Bluetooth Speaker System. If the Boytone can Connect/Pair with the Hopper, can it play together with my Soundbar ??? DISH Website says ".............you can have pair UP to 5 Devices, BUT you can ONLY use TWO at once." No problem, just want Soundbar to work WITH the Home System. Do you think I should buy it, get it, and set it up, then turn on to PAIR up with Hopper, and it will pair BUT work with the Soundbar w/o fooling with a HDMI. No YT help Videos. No DISH Website help. I'm lost. So, my Mom hates the remote that came with the soundbar. It’s tiny. She uses the cable remote for the sound on the TV. Is there a way she can use the cable remote to also adjust the sound on the tv/cable and the soundbar. I tried programming the Aux on the remote to the soundbar but Spectrum said a code doesn’t exist for that type of soundbar.

Great video, I saw another tutorial that said you must also connect the optical port on the cable box directly to the tv for the set up to work properly, is that true. They also said that you must connect the cable box hdmi cable to an hdmi port labeled hdmi out on your soundbar not the Arc or In ports

Cant you just use the HDMI arc port on your sound bar and connect to your tv HDMI arc port. Using on cable? Then you can connect your TV set box to one of the other tv HDMI inputs along with any other source like a fire stick to one of the tv other HDMI inputs. That way you just select your tv input source and the sound bar plays the sound from that source?

What is the point of this? Just connect a high speed hdmi lead from the soundbar to the arc hdmi on your tv, and set top box from your set top box to any available hdmi on the tv.

Yes, I did use an HDMI splitter. One HDMI from the Cable box to the splitter IN port, a second HDMI OUT port to the soundbar, and a third HDMI Out port to my TV. I also had to go to the TV Menu and select External Speakers. Hopes this helps.

My box was connected to my soundbar. My tv has a built in DVD which I had to program everything back onto the tv to watch a movie. No connections were changed. Presumably, both your TV AND soundbar are “ARC HDMI” capable. “If” so you’d likely want to connect the HDMI ARC port on your TV to the HDMI port on your sound. Then, your cable box will hook up direct to your TV using “generally” any other available HDMI port. Now, if what we’re saying proves accurate, based on your equipment (both !) having ARC, then you could also need to enable the ARC feature within each device’s settings

Only HDMI or Optical Audio cables will allow a “surround sound” (best) signal. RCA is analog and just carries “stereo” (not best) signal

If I have a smart TV wouldn't it be "smart"er to connect the cable box to the TV using normal HDMI ports while keeping the TV to soundbar connection on the HDMI-ARC connection that you've shown? That way, wouldn't the sound from other inputs on the TV (like Netflix,KZbin, etc.) also play through the soundbar? Also, my soundbar (on order) will have a digital audio port requiring an optical cable. When is it advisable to use that?

If your TV can't process certain audio formats like Dolby Atmos, but your soundbar can process those formats then it is going to be better to connect your cable box, bluray player to the soundbar and then HDMI ARC out to your TV. You can do it the way you said, but you just won't get the best audio quality experience.

Great video, I followed the directions with my new Samsung HW-Q600c sound bar and satelite box. The only issue I'm having is that everytime I turn the TV on I have to use the sound bar remote and toggle the sound bar mode to HDMI. For some reason whenever I turn the TV off and then turn back on again, I have to do this with the Soundbar remote. Otherwise I get a blank screen and a message on the TV saying "no source" This doesn't make sense to me as the sound bar is in HDMI when I turn it off. And it says HDMI when I turn it back on, but I still have to scroll through the sound bar modes back to HDMI before it will work. Anyone else have something like this?

Connect blue ray and cable box up to TV directly. Connect TV audio Toslink Optical output to soundbar. Check TV menu audio settings for “external speakers” and select it (not all TVs have such setting and if not ignore this step)

The audio will not come through the sound bar If your TV has a Toslink Audio output and if your sound bar has a Toslink Audio input you could make that Toslink cable connection and then you’d hear Netflix audio through your sound bar

Everything is great except KZbin. If I watch KZbin for some reason there is a sound delay that doesn't match the picture. This only happens on KZbin.

Too many spots for failure doing it this way. Best way is HDMI from external device (cable box, PS5, whatever) sending video and audio to TV then audio out with digital optical audio (you may have to go into settings on TV manufacturer remote to set audio out to optical).
