Thank you! The salesman at Best Buy kept saying that I’d have to get the $600 sound bar versus the $400 sound bar because it has the extra HDMI ports directly on the sound bar itself. I could’ve sworn that using the HDMI arc input I would be able to get the sound from anything else I plugged into the TV. Thanks for confirming.

Wow! I was trying to get sound via our QLed Arc to our Klipsch Fives for hours before I found your video while searching for a solution. I just picked up a Vizio M7, this video help me out but an update my Visio you MUST either set the TV speaker settings to "OFF" or "AUTO", ..."ON" will not work, you'll only hear sound from the tv not the sound bar. I would suggest "AUTO" so when you turn the sound bar OFF the tv automatically turns its speakers back on and vice-versa.

Our LG soundbar wasn’t working with Samsung tv. I went into settings and CEC was on but I thought well I’ll turn that off and on see what happens. All of a sudden the sound come out of the soundbar. Thank you!!

I set all this stuff up correctly, switched over all the settings, and had it working but everytime I would turn off the devices it would stop working. I ended up just getting an optical cable and being done with it until they make a sound receiver that supports 4k 120hz.

I have the JBL 5.1 Soundbar and subwoofer with detachable speakers that will not pair. I have tried the Dim button for 5 seconds then Bass+ then Bass- which was recommended numerous times with no luck. Can this problem be fixed or repaired? I have the Vizio Oled and just ordered the JBL 9.1 sound bar that has E-ARC. Now what HMDI cable should I get for the e-Arc port? My number 2 & 3 ports are 2.1. And Port 1 is the e-arc on my Vizio tv. I got HMDI 2.0 high speed hdr, Hi speed ethernet port. Is that the best for Maximize in Derby Atmos and DTX? I don’t need 2.1 cable? I know the 2.0 is at 18g bandwidth and the 2.1 is at 48gb. Thanks

Okay so I have a Vizio tv and sound bar. On sound bar I’m on the “HDMI arc” setting and I’m using the HDMI ARC port of tv. I have the CEC enabled and tv finds the sound bar. Once I disable tv speakers sound bar doesn’t work and I cannot turn volume up and down? Any ideas why or what setting I’m missing? I do noticed once I back out of the CEC setting on tv and I go back to it I have to click on device discovery so the Vizio SB3651 appears

Followed your directions and everything was working fine but...at some point voices dropped off. Background sounds continued to sound fine but lost dialogue. Seems to happen randomly and with certain shows like football games, news and some movies. It's super frustrating. Reached out to Sony (tv) and they suggested resetting but still having issues. I know I'm not alone on this.

potential cause and something to explore is the audio format your device is outputting and the audio format your sound system is set to and/or capable of processing. These would be found in the respect sound settings of each component.

Good video but didn´t help me. But I figured out how to get it work anyway: I have a set top box used with my old TV and use it with my new TV. In the beginning I could not get any sound from the soundbar connected to the TV´s HDMI ARC port when the set top box was the source. Only when the source was e.g. an app in the TV did the soundbar work. No settings made any difference. But I found out that if I started the TV with the set top box disconnected and waited until I saw a message on the screen that ARC was active and then connected the set top box, the soundbar worked. I don´t understand why but it always work.

Can someone explain to me why I have to unplug the supplying device's hemi cable (fire cube tv) to get Dolby? If I try, I only get pcm as an option when playing a ! movie, but if u plug the HDMI going into the tv from the fire tv and replug it back in, it switches from pcm to Dolby digital. I have to do this every single time.

Only thing he didn't show........I have the same TV (V405-G9) & the middle HDMI port for that year was the 1.4 version, the others were 2.0. However, if there's HDMI outputs on the soundbar, one can make use of these to have an additional HDMI 2.0 connection. My 4K Amazon Firestick resides there & Roku ultra is where the Google Mini (top port). I've not used the middle HDMI port because some says everything must be HDCP 2.2 (feature of HDMI 2.0) to work properly. By chance, the later (HDMI 2.1) version of this VIZIO TV fixed this, with all ports being the same. Only there's no 4K 120Hz port like many HDMI 2.1 TV's, so unless VIZIO releases a firmware update, it's no better than HDMI 2.0, as far as viewing goes. This is a budget TV ($225-250 range), yet for the price, still a decent TV. Took 3 calls to no avail to VIZIO support to enable UHD support, which was greyed out on every available HDMI 2.0 port, should had been covered in manual. A VIZIO rep on Reddit showed me the trick to unlock ports after 3 months of ownership.

Whats the point, if u lose an hdmi input simply for sound output thru arc? If i have 2 game systems and a bluray player needing inputs, dedicating the 3rd input for sound seems dumb, or its geared for lazy people that dont want to use 2 remotes and have them power on together.

I have a 2014 TV with HDMI 1 and 2. There is no HDMI ARC. I need to buy a replacement sound bar, but the current ones that have HDMI require HDMI ARC. Is there any way to adapt my non-ARC TV to be able to use the ARC on a new sound bar? Or do I have to get rid of a perfectly good TV? I want the HDMI (ARC) connection so I can continue to use my ROKU remote to control everything (not have to use the sound bar remote AND TV remote). Anyone have any ideas?
