At last......have been reading all about sounders BUT you have been the only folk who have taken the proper way to sort this all out. I have had an expensive soundbar for a week now and have not been able to use it. not one person has explained how to get the sound from the tv. toy folk deserve a high mention and all the accolades going thanks very much

Thank you! The salesman at Best Buy kept saying that I’d have to get the $600 sound bar versus the $400 sound bar because it has the extra HDMI ports directly on the sound bar itself. I could’ve sworn that using the HDMI arc input I would be able to get the sound from anything else I plugged into the TV. Thanks for confirming.

I connected my new Vizio sound bar to my Vizio tv using the ARC ports, and set up the TV as you demonstrated, selecting the ARC port on the sound bar. The sound is great, but randomly, it will drop out and revert back to the TV speakers momentarily, then switch back to the sound bar while leaving the TV speakers on. It's been quite frustrating! I had to switch to using the TV's optical output and the optical input on the sound bar for the sound to be uninterrupted, but it's not as good. Have I missed something?

Just bought a SONOS sound bar. My TV is older, but does have the required HDMI ARC. However, the new cable with the sound bar will not "seat" in the TV's ARC port hence the message on attempting set-up on my iPhone App is that the ARC is not connected (the earlier setup set to power on the sound bar was fine -- I heard the "beep". Wondering if the TV's flawed and I'll need to modernize it, or is there something I"m not thinking of.

I’m using Denon 1712, I can only get stereo via HDMI ARC from my Sony TV, I was thinking this could resolve my Xbox series S issue as it is using HDMI2.0 but my AVR only supports HDMI 1.4a, I just need the audio to be processed by my AVR, it connects to 7.1 channel speakers, any advice is appreciated.

I want to add a soundbar to a 2011 Toshiba TV (no HDMI-ARC but REGZA-LINK). Both the soundbar and TV do, however, have optical audio ports so I connected them that way. I was unsuccessful. What other TV settings, if any, do I need to configure for working soundbar?

I just picked up a Vizio M7, this video help me out but an update my Visio you MUST either set the TV speaker settings to "OFF" or "AUTO", ..."ON" will not work, you'll only hear sound from the tv not the sound bar. I would suggest "AUTO" so when you turn the sound bar OFF the tv automatically turns its speakers back on and vice-versa.

Our LG soundbar wasn’t working with Samsung tv. I went into settings and CEC was on but I thought well I’ll turn that off and on see what happens. All of a sudden the sound come out of the soundbar. Thank you!!

I have a 70 inch e series Vizio 4K TV and a Bose 300 soundtouch sound bar . I connected my soundbar to The Arc in the back of my TV set and now when I turn the TV on it automatically goes to the Bose soundbar HDMI ark . And I have to keep switching back to either my TV or my fire stick . Sometimes two maybe three times before it stays on TV without switching back to Bose HDM I Arc by itself .
