I have an old as dirt TV. No sound bar or other external devices, except a streaming stick. The sound is gone. Poof! Question: If hardware is bad in tv, can an external sound device even work?

It's too bad Samsung and many others did not watch this video and others that show how to use RCA, optical and various other ports and now in 2024 many are going strictly to HDMI ports. It's a marketing ploy that too many companies are using to get people to buy their newer Chinese garbage in order to connect surround sound to their TV. I have this Yamaha receiver and returned an expensive Samsung 65 inch TV to Best Buy because, it only had HDMI connections and that is the only connection my NOT made in China, Yamaha receiver does not have. I enjoy the amazing theater effect from my Yamaha and will not be buying any Chinese garbage in order to have a semi good surround sound effect when I already have a magnificent WIRED surround sound system. Thanks for these 2 videos. They are very helpful.

Thanks for the info and my problem is I don't have access to a wire internet system and my internet can only come via my Netgear router. What I'm looking for is how to connect my Netgear router to the NBNCo router setup and then connect the Netgear router to my desktop computer as it is now.

I cant get tv sound through the surround system, i have an older sony surround sound system and a tcl tv. It was working fine vith a newer sony System. I tried everything But no go. Dvd surround sound is good but no sound When I try to have tv surround sound . I had a newer sony that worked great. I'm going nuts trying to get Tv sound to go through the sony surround . Bran new hdmi arc cable still doesn't work .

It's a shame because these TVs have antenna's already built in to do this ( I was doing it for a couple of years ) then they blocked the signal where you have to buy an Antenna

Thank you, but you didnt say how to connect the mediabox. I connected it directly to the tv (by HDMI), and the tv connected to the receiver (by HDMI ARC). The aerial tv cable is connected to the mediabox. And still, I have no sound&video. Why so?

If anyone is struggling to get HDMI signal out to their 4K tv. Try plugging in a regular computer monitor. That's what worked for me. Also enable picture by picture for some Sony 4K TVs.
