Glock 17 Vs Glock 19 [Easy Choice, But Not For Everyone]

Personally, I'd go with the Glock 19 for daily carry-it’s compact but still solid. Which one would you all pick?

Carried both for 20 years. I too loved the 19. I carried it with a finger extension (no extra rounds, just a small extension) in my duty holster, and two Glock 17 mags on my belt.

Glock 17 for duty and war, glock 19 for normal edc. If you can cc a g17 even better. The full size frame is what you want in a stressful situation hence duty size

German shooter here - and still 8 months until I can get my own gun. I have to admit, it kind of love the look&feel of the 19 gen 5 fs (+mos). It's just the right size, mass, balance,... and the new trigger is just sweet, but not too sweet. Sure the pdp is fancy and all, but it looks so damn tryhard to me.

As a sports shooter you need: a clean "Führungszeugnis" (no felonies), a psychological reliability check, a year of training in a registered shooting club, a test in "Sachkunde" (weapon law, technical and handling kowledge) and then a proof of still being in that shootclub and training. Then you may apply for your own gun. Simple, eh? Oh, and you have to prove you do have a gunsafe that is fulfillling an EN norm and by now you agree to be ok with full house searches at any time.

19 when outdoors. Easier to conceal even with a mini light setup. 17 when at home, with full size light setup. Simple.

I love my glock 19..i can wear it concealed all day...its compact and also big at the same time..15 plus 1...very accurate

If I already ccw a 442 s&w but need a truck/back pack/ camp/home defense pistol is the 17 the way to go. I mean I’m not worried about concealment at all so any reason to go 19 or 19cx over the 17?

I honestly tried my CZ P10C to a Glock G17 and that’s when I realized that I did the right choice on CZ. Glock has its fan base that makes me cringe (used to be a Glock fanboy and still has a GSSF card)

Seems to me if you were smart you wouldn't even look at the 17 and you would buy the 47 and than you would buy the 19 the end they stopped making the 17 plus the 47 comes with mos which is better .

The most correct answer is neither. Let me explain, listen & hear my reasoning before you dismiss the truth. The Glock is ok, the problem is it's outdated & overrated for the following reasons. All glocks get sloppy with group patterns on targets after 1000 rounds. The problem is the recoil spring that comes with it is simply sub standard. The issue can be solved by getting the Glock titanium recoil spring. Every elite unit in the military, police, FBI, CIA, nsa, and those who are in the know and whose lives depend on a tough, tactical, & truly reliable gun make the correct decision to invest in the: SIG SAUER P226 MK25 MODEL. THIS HANDGUN BY SIG SAUER IS FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY. Don't believe me, do the following test, put each gun side by side at the range. Fire a few 100 rounds with each weapon. Then do the test again blindfolded, you will feel the superior action and better grouping capabilities of the SIG SAUER. YOUR WELCOME.. THIS WEAPON IS MY PERSONAL CHOICE MY QUALIFICATIONS ARE US ARMY, I AM AN 18 BRAVO, SPECIAL FORCES OPERATOR & SNIPER. HANDS DOWN, NUFF SAID.

Personally I prefer the older glocks like the Gen 3. I carried one in law enforcement for years and shot thousands of rounds through it. It never got sloppy, never failed to fire, never doubled fed, never stove piped, not once. They make a very dependable firearm that does it job every time. There are always new firearms coming out with a new bell or whistle but definitely doesn’t make the Glock outdated. If I were to return to law enforcement tomorrow I would carry a Glock 22 or 23. But even though I could rely on the Glock there are many other pistols I like just as well and better. As you say the Sig P226 is amazing, dependable, and accurate. Most any quality gun in the hands of an accomplished shooter can be a winner. Just watch what Doug Koenig can do with a gun designed over 100 years ago, the 1911.
