I don't like EV's, but maybe it would be interesting make some FF movie with electric cars... It would be in future, where EV's are completely normal, BUT, there will also be classic cars with combustion petrol engines. And that cars will be ilegal, so not only racing is ilegal.. But even riding normal car is ilegal, and it would be problem for cops. And be honest, EV cars have potentional to be fast in straight line, so race between Tesla and some old 60's muscle car would be interesting too. Or Tesla vs. JDM drift car, Tesla would be faster, but JDM would win in corners. I don't want to live in world where is only EV's street legal, but as a movie, it would be interesting...

@@harikrishnanunni3966 I'm guessing the thought was he short shifted for the nitrous shot, and ended up still just on the bottom of the power curve, making the downshift risky, but feasible. He was only going to get more power for a few 100 to maybe 1k RPM before having to shift up again. Kind of depends on where he was in top gear (which we didn't get to see) before the shift, and how long gearing is.

Well the scene is somewhat realistic but not that much as the old muscle cars didn't have that many gears they only went to 4 or 5 whereas Evo and Eclipse have 6 gears. What I'm trying to say is that originally muscle cars. they would be in the lead in the race first because of their v8 engine, but in terms of top speed the Evo and Eclipse would be faster since they have more gears, and if in this scene they used a gtr34 or supra it would be another story, I am not saying that the Japanese cars are better than American ones, I am only giving a point of view because if we are realistic it is a race of old cars against modern ones.

The 2 cars were supplied by Mistubishi for the movie, so why wouldn't they use them. The eclipse was still popular with tuners at the time. the 3000GT was more beautiful and aggressive but the eclipse was done fine in my opinion.

I never understood the amount of CGI they used during the races. They literally had the cars racing there and then, why not just blur the background, have the evo go slightly faster than the charger from the side slowly and speed up the footage. Would've ended up looking much better that way.

I think it's because they wanted the scenes to be more dynamic, but yeah, there really isn't anything in the races that couldn't have been done practically. The only scenes I can think of where the CG was necessary was that one shot during the first race where it does a clean pan between the 4 drivers and the Mustang being thrown around by the trucks during the audition race, and the latter is only because it's dangerous to film it practically.
