@@tweak06 Its meant to reflect one of the main satirical points of this film. Romero was commenting on the disastrous 2003 war in Iraq. The raiders are like America. They have overwhelming firepower and a callous indifference. The town is meant to represent a Developing Country that they are invading and plundering for its resources. Its about how one-sided and inglorious the conflict was.

I’d probably empathize with the zombies more if they weren’t an infectious flesh craving hoard looking to eat us all. If we could be thoroughly convinced that just staying away from them could keep them away then that’s one thing. But they’re evolving and becoming capable of complex tasks and problem solving.

They were "fine" because nobody was around. The moment humans showed up they would attack them. Humans killing them as they're getting supplies isn't provoking them, it's just common sense to avoid being eaten.

@@aribounty327 I agree. If the zombies didn’t attack on sight then that’s less incentive for people to attack them when getting supplies. But no, their hunger for flesh is too powerful. Killing them before they have the chance to kill us isn’t villainy, it’s basic survival instinct

Here is hoping Twilight of the Dead (Romero's final chapter in The Dead saga) will be at least as good as this. Its for all intents and purposes Land of the Dead 2. Will prob come out in 2024.

Well not 2024 apparently, but everything we hear so far about the movie is pretty good. As the got a very competent director and Greg Nicotero who worked with Romero doing the makeup of the zombies is already in the movie. I have the feeling the movie is in good hands. George's family seem to be very invested on get Twilight of the Dead right.
