Why do you use auto when sealing the corn? That is what the manual mode is for. If you use a vacuum until you can see the air is out of the bag and then push the seal you don't lose all your liquid and ruin the machine
@ChaplainDaveSparks8 ай бұрын
Maybe ... if you took the cheap sealer, put it in a *LONG* bag and used the _Seal-A-Meal_ to pull a vacuum on it, it would help dry out the insides of the cheap one...

I actually highly recommend to anyone looking into getting a vacuum sealer to shop around at thrift stores. Last year I picked up a FoodSaver brand sealer that was their top of the line model a few years ago for $5 and have seen the same one or slightly newer for $10 to $15 at other times, and this particular one when it was brand new was a $150 sealer, and usually just like the one I got they’ve barely ever been used. A lot of people buy them thinking they’ll use it and then it sits collecting dust after one or two uses.

You are right about thrift stores. I picked up a nice one for about $15 some time ago. It lasted a few months, and he rubber strip came apart. I have picked up a few since then, and when I got home, neither worked. I plugged them and tested them. They made noise and seemed to get hot, but they didn't seal the bags well. Also, you never know long it will take to find one. So definitely keep on the lookout for a deal, but it's a dice throw unless you take it home and test it and return it if you aren't happy with it. Of course buying cheap Chinesium stuff is a risk, but you usually have 30 days to send it back.

I used to put a rolled up paper towel in with moist steaks across the width of the bag to absorb the juices before the seal.
@mrkraemer7772210 ай бұрын
When you tried the corn in the Seal-a-Meal, a lot the juice had already been sucked out by the other vacuum sealer - so the Seal-a-Meal actually did worse at sealing than you originally thought it had. If you had used a fresh bag and new can of corn, you'd have a much better comparison of the two machines. Who knows, with a full can of corn juice the Seal-a-Meal might have been in just as bad shape as the other vacuum sealer.
@TheArby1314 күн бұрын
If you set the sealer on a counter near the edge and let the bag hang down so gravity can hold the liquid down, the sealer should suck out all the air before the liquid can rise to the seal area.

That's great advice! A lot of people have asked for an update video so I will try that! Thanks

Wet food is more in line with damp food. The big question is the longevity of any vacuum sealing machine. My old food saver machine failed after about 200 sealing operations. The pump was plastic. They tend not to draw much more than about 21 inches of vacuum, some a little more. Most manufacturers don't give that spec. If you live in Denver (higher altitude), less vacuum is obtainable.

Quite a few people have asked about an update on this machine so I'm planning on doing one soon. I will say that the Seal a Meal I had for a year and a half broke. Luckily I had this cheapie and it has picked up the slack and at this point, had more use than the Seal a Meal and is still going.... even after the corn juice incident 🤣. How much longer will it last, I don't know, but it has exceeded the Seal a Meal and was about 25% of the price.

I bought a really cheap vacuum sealer. It works! I have tried various bag hacks however and hardly ever gotten lucky with that working. The big expense is the vacuum sealer bags if you want it to work. The best deal on those is the big box of sealer bags from Costco that recently was still $20 and goes on sale sometimes.

I liked your video.. it was very thorough..I have seen in other videos that when they vacuum seal liquids like soup or spaghetti sauce, they actually lift the unit off the table and seal it with the unit above the bag..why not give it a try..would live to see a follow up video..good job..

That's a good idea. I might do a follow up video because I'm actually only using this vacuum now because my Seal A Meal stopped working recently.

Im gonna try a paper towel strip just above the veggie. Ive only sealed one thing in my life so far, that's a 20 pack of cigars I got off the net for later. Works well so far

Good grief! What would make you think that you could pour a can of corn with all its liquid into a suction machine and not have it suck up the liquid? You’re supposed to freeze the product with liquid first once it’s frozen, then you vacuum seal it.

Hey Mack!! That's definitely a good deal on that cheap vacuum sealer. Seems to work really well. That corn certainly did a number on it though. Lol

For the price, it really surprised me. I got a notification the other day that you've got the 14" Vevor now. I'm working *A LOT* and haven't had a chance to watch any videos in a while but I'm planning on catching up on yours tonight!! 😎

That was not a fair test with corn as a lot of the liquid had already been sucked out with the cheaper sealer.

Why do you keep holding the lid down on the white one?
@rebeccacaraska411212 күн бұрын
Because seal a meal, which I bought yesterday and am returning today didn't think we might need the lid to lock into place like every $20 sealer on Amazon. It's awkward and they have the audacity to ask $69.00 for it. It also doesn't suck out near as much air as my cheap Amazon sealer I paid $24 for. I had to replace because I dropped it during a move.
@oskar67476 ай бұрын
This video was good until the corn. My cheap machine says to keep the bag below the machine when sealing liquid and use manual mode. And I'm sure that other machine would have had liquid on the table with a fresh can of beans with all the liquid still in the bag.

@@AllAmericanMack I tried it with rice and water. Didn't work very well. Even when manually stopping it it had time time to suck a lot of water out. I got the best result by just slowly rolling the bag and squeezing it until the water was almost at the top and then just sealing it.
