I like the Blackstone electric griddle. I have a stainless steel Little Griddle by Sizzle-Q that I use with my Weber grill. I like that it can be positioned over the burners so that different heat zones can be used and with the ultra-high heat of the grill steaks can be seared to perfection. But having a large indoor griddle like the Blackstone in the Winter is a plus! Blackstone also has egg rings to stop them from spreading too wide on the griddle.
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
Interesting that you mentioned the Sizzle-Q. I bought one some years back and although I have never put it on the grill, I used it on my stove. Even though it was completely not designed for that, it actually works pretty good. I did end up getting the egg rings and have used them quite a bit since I try to cook everything I can on the Blackstone.

There are going to be a little splattering but I've never found it excessive and it just takes a minute to wipe up. I have the larger 22" version with dual heating elements and controls but find the recovery time is longer on it than on the 17". But you do make an interesting point and I could see the benefit of dual controls in this model.

There will be minimal splatters if you're cooking something with a lot of grease like bacon but it's not excessive. You can also close the hood to further minimize splatter so I would say it's a good bit less than using a frying pan on the stove.

I’m seriously considering purchasing one but can’t decide between this and the 22. People are complaining the 22 does not cook evenly at all. Also how do you know what temp to use for different foods? Thanks!
@AllAmericanMack2 жыл бұрын
Having had both the 22" and the 17", I prefer the 17". It is a little less cooking surface but the recovery time is better than on the 22" and it has less hotspots. Someone had commented that they tend to use 400° for most things and I've found that it was pretty solid advice. There's a small learning curve for the temps but I now usually start the griddle at around 450° or maybe a little higher depending on what I'm cooking so that it doesn't cool down too much from the food. Then I adjust the temps to 400° or whatever I want after it's recovered.

For me it was the larger cooking surface than what a frying pan has and the ability to better control the cooking temps. I won't discount the fact that I think it's pretty cool too lol. When I bought mine, I knew I would like it but I didn't know that I would love it and would end up using it way more than I initially thought. I used to use those cheapy $20 griddles but the non-stick coating would always end up wearing or coming off after just a little use and I got tired of replacing them so often. For me, this griddle has been not only my favorite kitchen appliance but well worth the inveatment.

@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
Although I haven't seen anything regarding outdoor use, I think because it's labeled as an indoor griddle it shouldn't be left outdoors. Rain and moisture would surely seep into it around the temp adjustment knob and would likely get into the digital display. I don't know whats inside the unit under the plate below the heating element but I'm sure there are some electronics and circuit boards there that could get damaged.

Why not smash the burgers before you put the on the grill? That way, you can use the heavy duty steel smasher.

Are you happy with this griddle please come at back and let me know

Yes, I've been very happy with it. It's still my favorite kitchen appliance after 2 years of using it.

they totally should've went with a cast iron griddle, even a thin one, I would not mind waiting an extra few minutes for it to heat up

I still really like this griddle a lot, even after 3 years and haven't had any issues with it including the food sticking issues some others have reported. With that said, I know full well that the ceramic coating only has a certain lifespan so I'll keep using it until it becomes problematic. I agree with you that I would have liked to at least see a cast iron option and maybe we'll see one eventually. I'm probably going to get a Vevor or one of the other similar griddles next and a big plus is being able to use metal utensils.

I love this griddle and there's so much that can be cooked on it, plus it's fun to cook on! I highly recommend getting one.👍👍

One simple question, how many non stick frying pants have we all thrown out? Ceramic Teflon and all others all end up in the dumpster. In the long run. You will never see a high-end chef using a non stick PAN. And yes, I agree with you, hotspots are a good thing. It's how a real griddle works at a diner.

well probably 1 of the best review video's I've seen in along time but what u did to the shrimp and steak has to be some kind of heresy

Put parchment paper under the metal smasher and you’ll be fine

Very disappointed in the hood design. When moisture condenses on the inside of the hood it pours out the back of the griddle onto the power cord and table top when you lift the lid. Very dangerous and messy. Should have been designed for the condensation to drain into the drip tray. But it cooks like a champ.
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
You're right, maybe some type of intergrated channel that emptied into the drip pan would be better. My surface isn't level so I haven't got the condensation on the power cord but I get it all on the lower side and just place a rag there to absorb it.

Just bought one on clearance brand new for a steal $40
@AllAmericanMack2 жыл бұрын
That's a steal! I usually never see those great deals at the Walmarts in my area and I check frequently. I've been looking for a larger outdoor Blackstone and they were discounted about $20 here this week.
