I routed the stream through a mix bus via xlr out and into a m Audio track solo. No matter how much try, obs clipped at -24db of the stream mix. M audio said they dont need driver for mac os. But the audio input showed as audio usb codec. My stream is painfully low on volume though i push my limiter pretty dang hard. Anyone stumble upon this?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
Usually, the interface (M-Audio in this case) is the issue that is causing clipping. My guess is you do not have proper gain structure on the console to begin with and you are trying to compensate by adding volume with the preamps on the M-Audio unit or in OBS. Here is what I recommend: 1) Connect headphones to the console and SOLO the BUS mix. Assuming it is not distorted, you can move on. If it is distorted you have an issue in your board/mix setup. Fix that before moving forward. 2) Follow the USB output configuration in this video we are commenting on. 3) Connect the USB cable from the X-USB output to your computer 4) In OBS, add a new Audio Input and it will come up as X-USB (no driver required) 5) Play and make sure it is working and sounds clean. 6) Assuming this is clean it tells you the M-Audio device was causing the issues. 7) Finally, evaluate the volume of your mix, you need to make sure you have proper gain structure at each input (-18 to -12 on the input meter) BEFORE you build your mix. Once you have built your mix you can use the Bus compressor and add a limiter to help get your volume up to a broadcast level. If needed, you can add a "gain plugin" at +5dB to the audio source in OBS to help overcome the natural lower output level of the X32.

great year ahead to you and your family and church.i have a question. can i route a mixbus to 2 monitor outs on the console?If it can be done please guide me accordingly
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
Yes, once you have your MixBUS selected, just go to Routing > Outs and set your MixBUS to multiple outs and this will get it done for you. Also, you can set the output in Routing > Outs and then go to another output area (like Routing > AUX) and set your MixBUS as the source to multiple physical outputs.

Hey, hope all is well. I have a few questions, when I update my firmware do I need to update my digital snake as well. If so, how do I do it, A friend told me I need to do this when I update, just want to make sure how to do it. I have a (S-32 digital snake) P.S. can you do a video on how to update the digital snake step by step, thank you, I really appreciate it your help.

Updating the console is all that is needed. You do not need to update the stage box unless you are having an issue with the stage box. I'll add the stagebox update to my list of future videos. My stagebox unfortunately is mounted in a venue that is a movie theatre outside of our Sunday morning time so it will be a challenge, but I'll try for sure.

So, How to route using Dante using audinate usb dongle?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
That is certainly another path that can be taken, but this video was about the capabilities of the console in its' factory setup. DANTE is a great tool that I have interacted with in other venues, but I do not personally have the card to make any videos. I do think that Jake at Church Front has a good video that covers Dante on the M32 which you might find helpful.

can i connect x32 edit to my DAW without the mixer?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
No, X32-edit is just a remote control software for the console. It does allow you to build and save scenes that you could later load into your console, but it is really considered a “thin client” used for control. The DAW will need to connect into the console to begin working on any true audio changes and listening to the final output.

Do you know how to bypass the main speaker outs and have a mic input that outs directly to the computer, but is still controlled by the channel fader on the board?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is select the channel and then find the "Stereo LR" button to the left of the screen. This button is usually orange meaning the mic will go directly to the LR house mix. If you push it to turn it off (not orange) it will allow all of the controls of the board, but the sound will not be heard in the house mix. I touch on this in my video about monitors when I mention a talkback or music director mic. Here is that video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKi8lIGfmq6GfJY

@@AllamHouse thanks for the info! I have tried that and can’t get it to work. I will give some more background: we use wirecast for our online live feed for our small church. We don’t have a band up front, just a piano and an organ. I use 11 inputs on the back of the board - all for mics. Most of these mics I want coming through our main speakers. There are 3 mics that I just want to use for the live feed (only when we are singing). I get volume in wirecast from these 3 mics, but as soon as I turn off the main bus, on their channel on the board, I lose their feed to wirecast as well. I believe it’s a routing issue, I just can’t figure it out. I’d love to tell the board that I want it to send mics 1-8 to the mains and the computer, and then send mics 9-11 just to computer, but allow me to retain full control of them on the board.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
Your best solution is to use a Bus dedicated to your livestream and send that out to wirecast across USB (or whatever path you are using right now to get audio to your stream). This video below walks through the setup on USB. If you want to get it done quicker I'm happy to jump on a consulting call and we can cover this across Zoom. JUST finished installing an M32 last week after migrating from a Yamaha 40ch analog board. I think we get the routing, but need some help on streaming level. Often the stream volume is just to low. Is the answer a limiter? I think we are getting used to looking at the dbfs meters, compared to the analog board. Any suggestions? Thanks for the great content.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
My experience is that gain structure is the issue… especially when moving from analog to digital (it happens to us all). This video explains those issues and once that is set well you can move on to using proper compression and limiting on the board to get levels up to a broadcast level. Thanks for your videos! I'm trying to get stereo out of X32 into the ATEM mini pro. I have Vox, Instr, and Drum stereo buses all routed to a stereo Matrix which is routed out to two XLR outs (7&8). I have panning setup for buses only and not PA (pa is mono). I have a cable (like the one at your video @5:17) but it has two XLRs to 1stereo 3.5mm instead of 1/4". Is there any reason why that shouldn't work? Is there any reason that you chose option 2 instead of using XLRs to 3.5"?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
Your cable selection will work. I prefer to keep my XLR outs for monitors or other outputs and use the 1/4" AUX outs for streaming because the soundboard is usually close to the ATEM and doesn't require a balanced cable (like an XLR) to be used.

Do you have any videos using an x32 for FOH and another x32/x32 rack for streaming. I’m interested in the routing and also how to get the sound into wirecast having the ability to control the x32 rack independent of the console at FOH. Your videos thus far have been a blessing for sure.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
I do not currently have a video of this setup, but I do plan to make one as there have been increased questions about it. The basic setup is not hard, but if you get into complicated output routing and can become somewhat of a mind-bend to get everything working properly. Also, gain control will be handled by the initial console that the inputs plug into and the other one will just become a trim knob (instead of gain). It’s not horrible once you get used to it, but can be a challenge to train volunteers at the start.

@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have one specifically, but I’ll add it to my list to make. Here are the basic details to know: 1) computer and console need to be connected to the same network. 2) Settings > Network tab on the console need to have an appropriate IP address and Subnet Mask entered. 3) X32-Edit need to go into the settings area and search for the console. If needed, you can enter the Manual IP from the console. 4) Connect options of “Mixer to PC” or “PC to Mixer”

@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 11 ай бұрын
Let me know what you mean by "hybrid" so I can best assist. Are you using audio from the console and the computer at the same time... like tracks? or something different?
@srbh41413
@srbh41413 11 ай бұрын
@@AllamHouse - Oh, that's interesting you ask. Different worlds... By hybrid I mean an online event with both people present in the venue and people online speaking and hearing each other. This requires sending the online people all the sound from the venue minus their voices, while people in the venue hear those remote voices. In one of your routing videos, you show "sending to PC by USB and return from PC by USB" which I believe accomplishes this. But, then we need to route that incoming PC sound to be heard in the venue without duplicating the venue sound. That should be taken care of by the Zoom not playing the sound it's sending. Hope that is clear enough... In corporate world, hybrid events are the standard now ..
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 11 ай бұрын
Yeah, so the Zoom video I posted in a different response is the one that can accomplish this for you. You will have a broadcast mix leaving the console and going out to your Zoom attendees. Any Zoom audio will return (across USB) into the console and I usually pull that in on Aux 1/2 (or any pair of Aux inputs available). This setup allows you to interact with your house audio with the Zoom audio while only sending the broadcast mix out to Zoom. One thing to consider is any bleed from the PA into the house mics and how that might create some potential feedback loop. The best way to deal with this would be to moderate the session and mute the house mics while someone from Zoom is talking. If you want to automate it you could try to restructure the board configuration to use the XY features of the first 8 channels and have the house mics and the Zoom audio in the first 8 and this allows auto fader to turn down anyone that is not talking.

Thanks Sir for this very helpful Video. With the very third option, i need a bit of help to clarify this Please. I have my LR hooked to number 7and8 on S16, Do I still route the out1-16 to 7and 8 instead of the 15, 16 as demonstrated here , Secondly , How do I play out from the same computer such as maybe playing from spotify through the Aux . I wanted the Auxillary 1&2 controlling my playback control from the PC.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
Whatever you have that is functional right now, I would not change anything. Each setup is different and (not knowing) how you have the S16 routed could impact the approach you take. If you only have the 8 outputs on the S16 you would want those available for in-house needs and then use the other outputs for virtual needs like livestreaming. In my example I used BUS 11/12 since they were available and then I routed them across USB which means they do not need a physical XLR output (like on an S16). For your computer Spotify audio, are you trying to play that audio back across USB? or use the AUX inputs on the back of the console? Also, are you using a Windows or MAC machine?
@testclc1347

@@AllamHouse My machine is windows. I have a 6.5 to 3.5 jack cable plugged into the Aux 1(Mono Channel) from the PC. Let me get this clear. On your PC , do you have the USB1in2 as Microphone and USB1out2 as speaker ? I manage to have the Aux1 play using a a different speaker instead of the USB1out2. Just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything here. I've used bus 11 and 12 as well. How could I use other bus to feed as in ear monitor and probably use some other output to feed the reception .... Thank you in advance Sir..
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
So, when I used the USB cable for connection I would (on Windows) have the X-USB driver running to allow the computer to recognize the console. I would set My livestream to go out USB 1/2 (as mentioned in this video). Which would go to my streaming software. If I wanted to have audio from the PC come into the console on USB, I would go to Routing > Input and set my AUX In to User In 1-6. Then I would go to Routing > User In and set the 1-8 section to have 1-Card 1, 2-Card 2, 3-Aux 3, 4,5,6 all be Aux 4,5,6. Now your PC audio will come across into the console on AUX 1/2 faders and you still have the other AUX ins available on the back of the console. On the PC you will have to set your audio output to be X-USB. Monitors: You asked about using other BUSes for monitors and those would be treated like any normal BUS as they are a mono send out the XLRs (by default). This video here discusses monitors. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKi8lIGfmq6GfJY Reception: If this is another room in the building, I would send your livestream mix into a Matrix and use that to push out to other rooms within your venue. This will take a stereo signal and mix it down to mono before it gets routed out an XLR and over to an amp to feed that other location.

Thanks for the encouragement. All three of these options are great, usable options depending on your equipment. While a Matrix is a fine way of mixing your livestream, I find that Post Fader MixBUS approach is the most conducive. It offers a custom mix for your house and stream and allows your sound tech to only have to manage the house mix once everything is dialed in properly.
