@Narendra Balapa not nearly the same as Mark Waugh or other natural players. He had an unconventional technique that he developed and was scoffed at by purists all over the world. He however was just as effective as Steve Smith or Shivnarine Chanderpaul. There are always 2 types of players - naturally gifted ones and others who work hard to be effective. I've been watching games since 1982... Born in 1974. I stand by my statement. So tone down with your insinuating remark.

I miss the days of cricketers playing hard, but with respect. I loved the battle between Waugh and Donald, full of fire, but never did either disrespect the other. They wanted the other one to give them everything, and wanted to beat them, and gave everything with still respecting the skill and effort of their rival. That's the cricket I grew up with, and grew to love. And Tendulkar, well, what a player...If you have a kid wanting to learn to play, no better role model.

@louisjwiese55156 жыл бұрын
Think South African cricket actually never invested time and energy in Klusener, in order to develop his obvious raw talent. He could have been alot better as both a batsman and a bowler (scored a century at test level, but they never bothered training him as a proper batsman or giving him a chance higher up the order; and once took 7 wickets in an innings as a youngster at test level, but they never worked on his bowling action etc). He apparently used to train himself at home to bat to fast bowling. Why didnt the coach help him with that? Why did he have to do it at home? As a South African I can say I remember them using him both nationally and at club level, as just a second thought or fale-safe. Never as an actual key figure. What a shame.

90s had world class fast bowlers. And klusener in 99 world cup and for a while later made those bowlers look like gutless chicken. The word is 'terror' my friend. He did terrorise bowlers for some time. And i dont mind that he wasnt consistent later. Players like Lara like Donald said "fights fire with fire" and we as spectators and lovers of the game want to see just exactly that. Klusener had his glory and we will remember him for his daring approach to the game.

@4zafinc7 жыл бұрын
Varun Off course. I'm in no way suggesting he couldn't face pace. But when he faced bowlers really fast, the spells at times got to him. Its not as apparent as Ponting's spin issues cause you usually don't have that many super fast bowlers that can bowl consistently in line and length at one specific timeline. And don't see his lack of aggression during those years a weakness. In fact he kept up with the times in terms of pacing his innings till 90s. It is only when T-20 format came to prominence that people started casting doubt with his strike rate that he later proved wrong.

When great bowlers calls some batsmen great we're all assured they really are great, hopefully the dead pitches' trend will end soon that is killing quality bowling from where great bowling is born & giving rise to cheap sixes with ever shortening boundaries making batting records meaningless. One example is Sachin's 200 that seemed to come against all odds even overcoming an apparent conspiracy by his own partner who was seemingly refusing to give him strike when Sachin was on 199*, whereas Rohit sharma's 264 appeared too easy as his wicket as well that came on a badly played shot looked avoidable despite the opponents being Sri Lanka.
