Ever since ceasing operations in 1970, Allan Herschell trains have become increasingly harder to find, especially because the more popular Chance C.P. Huntington has increased in numbers, with now over 400 built. If I ever get the chance, this is definitely the one place I have to go to. My local zoo, the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ, used to operate two of these before they were replaced by C.P. Huntington engines in 1984 and 1999. A third C.P. Huntington was added in 2015.

I'm trying to find out where Iron Horse serial # 243568 is. She was sold New to Hamel's dairy in 68 or 69. The Dairy turned to an amusement park in 71 or 72. She lived there till the park was shut down and auctioned off in 1999. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Billy Strong assuming that the serial number that you posted is the correct one for the unit that was at Hamel’s, it is now operating at Heritage Park in Simpsonville SC

Allan Herschell Company. Now defunct, and merged with Chance Rides.

It's a shame these ceased production after the company was acquired by Chance. They're so much prettier than the basic-looking CP Huntington locomotive and cars.

Agreed. But the C.P. Huntington engines built since the 1980s seem a lot easier to use.
