It's so awesome that you're pushing back against the whole influencer-excess wedding trend!! Opting for a simpler, more meaningful celebration is a truly wise decision. Your wedding is about the love you two share, not the show, and that's something to be admired!

Appreciate it so much thank you! Now don’t get me wrong… I LOVE witnessing / watching / attending all of the fabulous frivolous wedding life but it’s just not for us! If it were up to Dejan and I, we would simply do ~nothing~ at all and go frolick on a beach somewhere 😂

I've been married for 35 years, my dress cost me £70 and my Mama made it for me. It's not about the wedding it's about the marriage. There is just so much pressure on weddings these days & the money some people spend on them is crazy. It's about two people, make it what you both want it to be. ❤

I bought a wedding dress when I was engaged the first time - yes, you read that right. And when I called off the wedding…three months before the day…. I held onto the dress. Had NO idea if I’d ever wear it or anything. Fast forward to actually getting married (different fiancé/groom) and I tried on a ton of different new dresses and ended up still loving my original. I had it altered so it had less of a full skirt and more of a mermaid skirt, and that was that! BUT I never wanted to hold onto my dress, not having kids, and so I sold my dress a few years later. And she sent me photos of her in it on her wedding day, and then she passed it along to another bride and sent me a photo of the two of them together with the dress. It was SO special, and honestly one of the BEST and my most favorite things about my dress. I spent so much on it, and then two more brides got to have it make them feel beautiful too. 😊

What a refreshing chat and conversation! Also, people always say like "oh, what if you regret not doing x, y, z" and I always think, then you can just do another wedding later! Like how sweet to renew your vows 20-30 years later! It's about the person and the relationship, not the singular day

It is simply elegant. I see Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy having considered this as her dress to JFK Jr. back in the day. It is clean lines, timeless style, sophisticated, easy breezy yet streamlined also somehow. The shoulders give it a little princess on a dress that otherwise is made for a queen. It absolutely is a NY wedding dress. That was a good choice for your previous wedding vision. ❤

A wedding is about celebrating the love between two people. Everything else is just extra. The dress, the food, the decorations… it’s not important. Of course you want it to be nice and memorable, but in the end all that matters is you marrying the love of your life in front of the people you care about ❤ it’s all I remember from my wedding. Will be married for 11 years this Thursday 🥰❤️

You are so right! A wedding is a day but a marriage is a lifetime. The dress doesn’t matter as long as you are happy in it. I’ve been married 23 years and while it seemed important at the time, in hindsight it really isn’t. To be honest as far as photos go, while I love my photos, they are definitely from 23 years ago and as you say your style changes!!! 😆

I’m sure your wedding will be amazing in every way whatever dress you decide to wear. We live in Scotland. My hubby and I got married in NYC City Hall 6 years ago. He hired a kilt and I got a dress from eBay for £50 and just had the train removed. We hired a photographer who took us around NYC for photos and we stayed for a few days as our honeymoon, then had a small party and blessing to celebrate with family when we got back home. It was all just perfect. I believe it’s not about how much you spend, it’s who you choose to spend it with that matters most. ❤ Hope your special day is amazing in every way for you guys. 🎉 xx

I found your wedding pics on insta and came here to hear your wedding dress discussion. It's resonating with me SO much because I'm in the process of dress shopping right NOW and literally have the same budget. I actually tried on the Jenny Yoo Viviana dress and loved it. It's in my top two with another more expensive option. I've worried "is it ENOUGH" bc there IS so much pressure on the day/pics/dress. But seeing you rocking it and looking absolutely amazing has made me fall in love with it all over again! It's stunning in its simplicity.

I also used the nuface leading up to my wedding. I can see a difference immediately after but you have to stay consistent. As I learned using it, the microcurrent needs access to muscles to work so try putting the prongs right above the jaw bone bc it won’t work through bone. If you do use it over the bone it could act as a guasha, if you will but you’re not getting any of the microcurrent benefits. Hope that helps!

I LOVE that you aren’t giving in to the ridiculous pressure to have a wedding that could send a couple kids to college. I love seeing the photos but I’m also always aware at the money spent. I saw an influencers kids’ first birthday yesterday and I thought what you thought about wedding “My god what did that cost”. There’s so many people really struggling financially in our current world that it also feels classy to not be boastful even if you can totally afford it. It’s a crazy standard and those children grow up thinking they need all that too. There’s something huge to be said about just keeping things super simple and enjoying the people, the memories, and yeah investing in your backyard space where you can fully enjoy that money spent. Love it! I’m so excited for you to have the wedding you’ve been dreaming of. That Sept 10/21 joke is hilarious 😆

FINALLY a brand has realized that it’s not realistic/common for a person to use all one brand in a single routine/day/process and now I’m genuinely more likely to purchase their product because of how it was presented to me. I work as a bridal stylist and I agree with so many of your thoughts on the wedding industry!! So many bridal shops are more concerned with making a sale and making money rather than actually helping the bride... Being told to size up and get alterations? It's just to make more money (especially if it's the same shop doing the alterations!). Being told you NEED to buy a dress now or it won't come in time? Depends on the designer but our shop can sometimes have dresses come in within a month or two of ordering. The prices of gowns? You should see the actual order cost versus the MSRP... I know that at the end of the day it's a business and we still need to make money but I try to focus more on empowering the bride to make an informed decision and give them an experience that is positive instead of adding to the pressure and stress that is wedding planning. I LOVE that you both are doing what feels right to celebrate and that you went with a dress that makes you feel amazing! Congrats to you and Dejan, you both deserve to have the perfect day without the outside pressures of the wedding industry cutting in!

Your outlook to the wedding is the only one I’ve heard in the yt space that actually makes sense - especially now in 2023 when most live together way before they get married. Why are you having a 3 day wedding celebration and spending thousands and thousands of dollars? To celebrate your life long commitment to each other publically (as opposed to the life long commitment you made to each other when you moved in together?). I just find it comical even vlogs talking about ‘life after the wedding’ or ‘life as a married couple’ when truly nothing has changed. Sorry about the rant and THANK YOU for speaking about this for all of us who feel this pressure to spend so much on a day which means very little in the grand scheme of things 🤍🤍

Maaan, I feel like this wedding dress business is such an American/British (apparently also Canadian) thing. I'm from Austria and have friends from other places in Europe and all the girls got dresses from wedding dress shops "of the shelf" - yes they are fitted to your body but that takes maybe 2-3 month. There are soo many options in all kind of price ranges like that! I got married last year and rented my dress because I didnt't want to buy a dress for a few hours just like you said. I bought my second "party wedding dress" that I changed into later cause that you can re-wear so much easier later. I always wonder why not everybody rents their wedding dress, makes so much sense to me :D LOVE your guys' attitude towards the wedding!

My wedding dress was a 2 piece satin grayish dress that cost $150 and caught the evening candle light beautifully. Our wedding was small and simple and my dad walked me down to the fireplace that he built with his bare hands in the home I grew up in. I was barefooted and relaxed… it was the best! The dress you showed is stunning, but if it’s not the one, it’s not the one. We did what we wanted and not what others expected us to do. It’s your day, your choice. Do what makes you guys happy. So much love and respect sent your way!❤❤❤

Weddings should only be about the bride and groom celebrating their love. Nothing else matters. Good for you guys doing it your way!!!

I totally agree about the wedding dress! There is so much pressure on brides to find the perfect dress. When I was trying on dresses for my wedding, every boutique I went to was pressuring me to buy a dress before I leave. No one was concerned about how I feel in the dress or if it was really what I wanted. The wedding industry just wants to take your money cuz you're most vulnerable on the most important day of your life. I ended up wearing a Free dress from a friend who kept her dress in good condition..no one even noticed! You do you girl, can't wait to see you on your special day =)

Absolutely GORGEOUS AND TIMELESS❤❤❤❤❤❤. (Wanted to point out one small skin change that has completely changed the game for me, because I had the same breakouts as you. No black coffee on an empty stomach. It spikes your cortisol. So even if it’s one big bite of something first, that’s the way to go. I’ve also been taking Turmeric and curcurim pills everyday for inflammation and knock on the WOODEST OF WOODS, haven’t had a flare up) so just wanted to share in case it helps. CONGRATS ON THE BIG DAY🥂💕

I got married in 2021 in an intimate ceremony. My dress was very simple - beautifully constructed by a studio in NYC out of raw silk, but simple. My plan was always to dye it black, cut off the train, and wear it again. This was the only way I could justify spending any sort of money on it, especially with it altered to fit like a glove. And I'll get to wear it again and again at special occasions!

I eloped over 25 years ago in Las Vegas. My Mom bought me a dress, I don’t even remember where it was from. All that matters is the two of you and the love that grows through the years. My husband is my best friend, and I love him so much. Would not change a thing about my wedding. ❤

We had a little wedding. 25 guests, town hall marriage and then a private dinner and cocktails afterwards. Small wedding are the one! We spent 15k and had beautiful flowers and a really nice meal for everyone at Spring in Somerset House, less pressure, and you don't have any huge planning stress!
