I've never made piroshki before and was in the mood for some today. It was my first time making piroshki, and definitely not my last! They came out excellent! My family and I enjoyed them. I'll definitely continue using this recipe. Thank you Alla!
made these, following this recipe this year for Christmas as most Latvians do (albeit at home you can buy them in the store). Good idea to double this recipe to get around 50-52 pcs, or risk for them all to be eaten within minutes. So good!

My family is from Latvia, we have been making these for decades. We call them Speka Rauss and we also add ground beef along with the bacon. Usually around Christmas we'll get 8 or 10 family members together and make hundreds of these.

I am making these tonight as my Grandmother is Latvian and I used to love these when I was younger (she cannot make these anymore as she is in a home - 96yrs old!). I've followed your recipe to a tee, I needed to add a little more flour (100gm ish) as the mixture was a bit wet. Thank you for sharing!!!! I will be making the black bread next :)

Now that's bacon! When I was little my Mamaia would cut some up and make a little platter with tomatoes and cucumbers and feta cheese. Not to mention all the fresh warm bread.... And my mom used to put it in scrambled eggs. Oh childhood.

Mom was from Latvia and I have made these for years. Every Thanksgiving everyone is excited. However, mom told me they were called Timincutzings (not correct spelling). Those may be the roll with caraway seeds same dough. Amazing food!

I'm confused - in the video, you said one teaspoon of yeast, but in a recipe is one tablespoon !??

sorry, typo :))) so its about 1 sachet which is 7 gr or fresh yeast 10 gr! hope this helps :)

+AllasYummyFood... ok thanks. I baked them today (just double ingredients for all family).. was sooo tasty and fluffy.. I tried lot of recipes, but never turned out so great...I'm gonna save this recipe.. Thank u..xx
