He doesn't show anywhere near the array of skills on show in the Beaudy vid. Like I said, if running the team better, goalkicking, and world cups are your measure then Grant Fox and DC were both better. As for your defence argument, Beaudy had the best chase down defence in history. Never saw Dan saving any tries.

@@911dionysus The real problem is we keep assessing players based on SR. SR is like 4 levels under test level. Players like Mounga, ALB, Goodhue & Bridge get their spot then messed up AB squad. Even if you see Beaudy didnt lift the SR cup, he was outstanding in AB jersey.

After DC retired in 2015 Beauden Barrett couldn't carry this team like DC. 2016 first loss to Ireland Beauden was at 10. British Irish Lions drawn series in 2017 Beauden couldn't tactically drive the team or nail crucial penalties to win that series. Two world cup failures in 2019 and 2023, home series loss to Ireland in 2022, first ever losses to Argentina, Beauden's been part of some of the worst losses in the All Blacks history. It's Beauden's pace and highlight reel moments that people get caught up in but there's a reason why he later played fullback more than 10 because he never was a great 10. Dan Carter is one of the greatest players to ever play rugby, Beauden doesn't come close to that distinction.

I prefer BB, it's just a preference. Dynamic, knows how to sniff out a try. Many tries he got...no one else could have got them. Boot...hard to beat Carter, I doubt any will...but who knows? It won't be BB. BB has a mean record, he is just a rugby player, DC ran the show, and mostly with Richie, probably the best ever to wear the jersey, so very hard to beat that. Even the games they lost, they lost...well. BB's era, well he played with the best of them as well...and not so best of them. When it comes to highlight reels, it's hard to beat the King, but for numbers and seat of the pants, hard to beat BB, but thats just me.

I’m sorry but even prime to prime they aren’t close. On your logic you could but Cullen at 10 and claim he was close to the best because he would cut up the opposition in open play. Even in his prime Beaudies kicking was relatively poor, distribution relatively poor (by AB standards), game management (particularly behind a beaten pack) - poor. The only thing he has ever had over DC is his ability as a strike weapon himself. That’s not what we need from a 10. A 10 sets up others - plural. A 10 who can unleash the other 6 players in his backline will always be more productive vs one who can just unleash himself. In this sense, Cruden was better prime to prime vs Barrett

And even after the player of the year awards , Mounga came along and ripped the 10 jersey off his back . Mounga made Beauden look like a donkey , first in super rugby then on the international stage 2017 Barbarians vs All Blacks . After half time they had to move Barrett to full back just to save face . Mounga is the most complete 10 nz has had since carter and cruden . the only reason he doesnt have the accolades at international level is because he played behind a forward pack that went backwards . he had to endure the dual play maker tactic that never worked and had a 12 next to him that thought he was the game breaker . now the All Blacks finally have a front row that does there job but we have no 10 . i hope razor gets his boy . cause if he does , i know razor will give mounga everything to succeed .

Richie was only really world class behind a dominant pack. The difference between Richie, DMac, Barrett vs the Bokke as an example is negligible. Anyone thinking that Richie coming back is going to revolutionise our game and be leagues better than the incumbent is just swallowing razors excuses. He may be incrementally better yes, but the difference will not be large
